1963 olds generator light stays on

My generator light stays on when key is off. When car is running, light is off. I leave the car on trickle charger and it does start. Is generator bad?

Possibly or a bad voltage regulator.

Are you saying the GEN light stays on when the engine is OFF, key is OFF and not in ignition?

Sounds to me like it might be a stuck generator light relay .
Try disconnecting it . It should be near the horn relay .
