windshield and back window

Couple of weeks ago I was flagged down by a guy who told me he had parts for my 54 Rocket. He's got a car in his yard with factory original blue tinted glass.. It's mint. He said it's mine if I want it, the door glass will be easy I'm just going to take the doors off but as far as the front and back glass I'm not sure what to expect... Anyone have some advice other than don't break it?

Take your time and use a spray bottle or squirt bottle of soapy water to lube the rubber as you work the glass out of the rubber. Found some plastic scrapers in a kit at Princess Auto...safer than using metal pieces. On a '57 you must remove the headliner to get at the studs that hold the windshield trim on...don't know about '54.

Use a good razor knife and cut as much rubber as you can away (it is probably not reusable anyway), this will make it easier to work the glass out of the window seal.

Yanked out the glass this morning, went really well used some picks, screw drivers and lots of lube and they popped right out. I got lucky in regards that the rubber around the glass was soft so it didn't put up too much of a fight.
