Talked to Spectra Premium tanks, they gave me a dimension of 9.5 inches from edge to strap center on the GM61A tank,(Buick Lesbre-Centurion) so that looks the same as my D88 tank. Filler neck at 11.5 so that seems a little short, but that could be dealt with, also asked about center to center on the strap slots just to confirm.
Hope this helps the tank dilemma
Great, hope it works for you, will you provide me with some dim's when you get it please, my care is a 72 88, Spectra never got back with me on the rib center to center dim.
I am trying to repair mine first but will go that route if those work ok, mine is rotted on the sides and top! bottom is almost perfect! This patch needs to be redone OG tank bottom, almost perfect after stripping. Top of tank, dirt sets and accumulates water, rust as pin holes.
So my 1972 88 is leaking front drivers side corner gas sitting in flang on tank. I idled it for 30 minutes totally dry. Does not look like any line are leaking. Then took it for a drive and it’s leaking. Right at flange does not look like any lines or hose are leaking, nothing coming from top side of tank.
any thoughts?
Tank is full going to drain it to half tank and see if still leaking

Yes, like Joe said, flange is usually the problem, possible the vent hose also. Pull the tank and bend flange down, you will see the problem, it usually holds dirt then rust's, see my pics, I had to replace all the fuel lines also, rotted also, way they set on the frame they catch dirt also.
So I finally got around to ordering fuel tank GM61A and now I can’t find it for sale anywhere.
I need a new or good used tank for my 1972 delta 88. Anyone have one or know a tank available that will fit?
thanks

I'm repairing mine, got one side fixed,(welded) pin holes in the top I believe the tank coating will fix, last resort JB weld. Bottom of tank is perfect!
see my pics above, I thought re pop tank would work, ( I was able to return free) but more work to make fit correctly then to continue down the repair road, which I already started knowing replacement tanks were NLA.
Some used tanks maybe avail in S.W. but how to find them is the problem, may have same issue.
I know this is old thread but sharing nonetheless... I also had trouble sourcing a replacement gas tank when restoring my son's 71 Delta conv a few years ago.. The '71 tank appears similar to the '72 with the extra fuel vapor lines. Since we were already replacing the trunk pan, we found a nice, rust-free one out of a '74 which has a slight bump for the fuel sending unit. Believe the tank straps were the same but not 100%. Sourcing a new 74-76 tank was no problem.
I found Rogers Radiators in Malden MA. I took them the tank. They clean it out and repair them, test with pressure and water. I looked long and hard and could not find a new tank for a 1972 Delta 88. If you call them they might know someplace similar near you, you never know.
