... transmission question

Once again as mentioned before I am not exactly car savvy. I went to get a transmission flush but the dude said he could not do it because there was no cooler hoses. My question is should I get a cooler set up and how should I run it. I have a '56 Hydramatic Automatic transmission.

Thanks again,
Shaun

Shaun, you need to check your radiator to see if it has a transmission coolet. It might not since it is older.

Look at your radiator and see if there are two lines going into the side or bottom of it that come from the transmission. The service guy you talked to may have been an idiot and didn't want to do the transmission flush. Especially if your car has solid lines for the transmission cooler. If your car doesn't have a transmission cooler then that is fine. If it shifts properly then why worry about it?

You could always buy a transmission filter and pan gasket and change the fluid yourself. It is easy to do, especially if you are handy with tools.
