Thermal Switch

1985 Delta 88

Thermal switches. There is 2 in the manifold and they each have 2 vacuum lines comming out of them.

What do they do? I forget. I was looking to remove the rear one to put in a water temp sender and the front one to put in a fan switch for an electric fan

Are they carb or emissions related?

Emission - one is for charcoal can purge, one for EFE (early fuel evaporation) - the valve at the exhaust manifold that directs exhaust through the intake to heat it up. If you remove the these, make sure the controlled device is disabled. In other words, you need to figure out if vacuum opens or closes the valves.
These diags may help you...
