Shim a power steering pump?

Anyone ever have to shim a power steering pump? I just replaced mine, and the angle is a little off, which will probably shorten the life of the belts. This is the first time I've come across this, has anyone ever had to shim a power steering pump? Thanks.

You have both of the power steering pump bracket spacers in the proper locations, right?

I'll check, it was 2 weeks between when I took it apart and put it all back together. The link you posted will be helpful. Thank you.

The bottom line is that shims were not required before you took it apart, and have never been used by the factory, so I'm willing to bet that it is not assembled correctly. As Eric noted, the most common cause of PS belt alignment posts is missing factory spacers. I'll go even further and suggest that it's the lower one, that goes between the bottom bracket and the side of the block. These fall out during disassembly and get overlooked. It's likely on the floor of your garage someplace.

I plan to show it to a few knowledgeable people I know this weekend, and at big Olds show on Sun. I think I have that spacer, and put it in the wrong place. It's now a matter of having the time to get in there and put it in the right place. Thank you all for your advice.

Or, you could just use the SEARCH function...

No need to, since I linked to the thread which contains the following illustration (which you posted) in my first response to him:
