My '55 came with front power disk brakes that were supposedly installed correctly. We'll at this point we've replaced the calipers, rotors, pads, bearings and seals. We've bleed them and still have issues.
When the cars off the pedal is firm. When the car is on the pedal has almost no resistance. We went to adjust the pedal and the guy screwed the adjuster to the side, not in the center.
I read to take out the tube from the power booster and stick a zip tie down to see if there's fluid. So we did that and there is a tad of fluid and some grease(maybe white lithium) down there.
Not sure if it's the master/power booster or a vacuum issue on the carb/Manifold side
Has anyone has this issue before? Or know what has failed? Thank you.
Yes they worked before. The car can drive and stop still. Just not getting the firmness in the pedal like you would think. They were similar before as well but had a little more resistance.
Hard to diagnose beings it has been altered, and you don't have history on the components. Like Oldcutless mentioned, check and bleed the rears for air in the lines also the fronts. If it stopped well before what have you changed since it started happening?.... Tedd
