Pertronix Ignition Installation Question

Pertronix Ignition Installation Question
I've decided to install a Pertronix electronic ignition conversion. Hopefully some of you that have it done can answer a few questions for me. The parts house I'm buying from has standard or lobe-sensing. I'm not sure what lobe-sensing is... or which one I need? Can I use my stock coil... or do I have to replace with their Flame-Thrower coil? (I'm considering the coil even if it's not mandatory.) The online instruction make it sound pretty simple, but they seem a little vague... can anyone give me a step-by-step for dummies?

The lobe sensor should allow you to use your own distributor without further modification, as it senses the peaks of the distributor cam lobes without the need for additional magnets.
The system should work fine with your original coil. Frankly, under normal operating conditions, their extra special coil will probably provide no noticeable benefit.
See their instructions, which answer most questions, here.

Okay, so sounds like I want the lobe-sensing one... and I'll start out using my existing coil and a new cap & rotor.
I read in an older thread about having to replace the 12V wire to coil with a constant key-on power source... but I don't see any mention of that in the Pertronix instructions?

There were CD ignition units that early in a few cars, but if you don't have a separate OEM electronic box and a special CD distributor, as pictured, then yours is just a regular points and condenser.
