New exhaust system 1977 oldsmobile delta 88 royale
So im looking to put a new exhaust system in my 1977 oldsmobile delta 88 royale but with a bit more performance and a bit of growl, i also like the dual exhaust look so if you guys have any suggestions im all ears
I am not sure if it is a perfect bolt on, but the only trans x member for duals is the one from the 90s Impala SS. Of course there is always the aftermarket..........
The 1977-1996 B-body cars use essentially the same frames. The Impala SS double hump crossmember fits, HOWEVER, the crossmembers are different for different transmissions. Unlike the earlier cars, you cannot simply slide the crossmember to match your trans mount location. I suspect the Impala crossmember only works for a 700R4.
As for an exhaust kit, the Walker Dynomax 17375 cat back kit for the Impala SS DOES work on the 1977-1985 Olds B-body cars. It's a 2.5" mandrel bent kit. You will need to fabricate the down pipes to fit an Olds motor, and whether or not you plan to use cats is up to you and your local regulations.

alright cool thanks for the info will definitely look into
Have you taken your Olds to a local exhaust shop yet? You might get a better price having the exhaust installed locally vs. buying a kit online. Plus, the exhaust shop owner can give you advice on choosing a muffler. BTW, where are you located?

The local shop will not have a mandrel bender. And no, this kit does not work without a double hump crossmember. Aftermarket ones are readily available.

i haven't taken it to a shop it's not in a condition to drive at the moment and im located in Albuquerque
Once you get your Olds running you can either drive it to an exhaust shop with the old exhaust or have it towed with open exhaust manifolds. I don't suggest driving it with open exhaust manifolds. Not only is it HELLA loud but you could melt wires under the car with hot exhaust.
If you order a kit similar to the one Joe linked you'll have to weld the pipes together yourself or use the included clamps and have an exhaust shop weld the system together once assembled. As Joe said, chances are that a local exhaust shop wouldn't have a mandrel bender (especially if you go to WalMart or Meineke). However, mandrel bent vs. crush bent exhaust wouldn't give you a HP boost detectable with a butt dyno.
