Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale 1978

Hi everybody,
I recently bought the car with a low mileage and good condition.
Although motor turns nicely does not start. there is not spark. Anybody knows of any immobiliser like the Cadillac?
Thanks
Theo

There is no VATS or similar system from the factory on that car. No telling what a prior owner may have done.

The easy thing is to temporarily run +12V directly to the BATT terminal on the distributor cap. If you get spark, the problem is in the wiring from the ignition switch to the distributor. If you still do not get spark, the problem is in the distributor itself. Failed HEI modules are not uncommon, but that is not the only potential cause.

Thanks Joe,
I will try what you explained and take it from there. Maybe the previous owner fitted something.
thanks again

Be aware that if the car does start with that temporary power wire in place, you'll have to physically disconnect the wire to turn the car off.
