New bumper for my 1964 Dynamic 88

Way back in December- or even November 2025- I picked up a bumper core for my Dynamic 88. It set me back $800 including shipping. I sent it out to a local shop to be chromed, and they found problems with it. They said it was cracked, the metal was thin in places, it had (in their opinion) been done at least once before, but despite all that, they could do the job. It would not be perfect, they told me, only maybe an 8 out of 10. So I authorized their repairs, and told them I would be good with something less than Concours quality, 10/10 bumper.

It's been almost 6 months since I dropped it off. I picked it up today- so yeah, I'm pretty stoked... mind you, I had one out of southern California that was chromed and ready to be installed, for the paltry sum of $4000. This one set me back $800 including shipping, and about a grand to have it done- albeit, an "8 out of 10"...
this is a good

Apparently thats where they had to do the repairs... I didnt see it before they tanked it and stripped it.

But the lamp is in the way, and they cut out the mount, repaired behind it and welded it back in. I'm a bit impressed that a chrome shop even bothered to cut out the mount and weld the bumper, carry out those repairs rather than just kick it back to me and tell me it's junk. But they did- they fixed it, and told me they were fixing it, and it wouldn't be 100%. I respect that.

Here's the results...

Thats pretty darned good, I think...

If you zoom in real close, you might see some pitting there, where they welded from behind along the top curl over the back up lamp, and to the end. Its visible to the naked eye

That's my new bumper. It set me back something less than $1800, and I think that's a pretty good deal. I can't wait to get it on the car.
