BEAUTIFUL CAR my man. I wish mine had been in half that shape. I myself am not fond of the lowrider cars, but we have to have all types to keep the game interesting. You have to have found the car of the year, my god what a find. And on top of that, a Delmont 88 with a 425, that in itself is a helluva find. Cuz the 425's were an option with the Delmont back in 67. Mine unfortunatly has a 330/350 but with the work done to it sounds like a monster. Still a dog, it ain't no 425 but sure sounds nice. Anyway, you have a beautifull car. This is my Delmont 88 after lots of work. Enjoy her while you can and welcome to the forum. There are lots of GREAT folks on here and they have a book of knowledge... Stumpy

Well, the internet is an amazing and wonderful place!
So this spring, my husband and I purchased a white 1967 Oldsmobile Delmont 88, w/ 425 Super Rocket... and it turns out that it was the same car that shainerman was posting about in this thread! Not sure if he still montiors this forum, but huge props to shainerman for taking such great care of her. The documentation here is priceless!
This Delmont is our second resto (although truthfully, it doesn't need a whole lot!) Our first project was a '75 Camaro (I've attached a picture from the first day we had the Delmont and the last day we had the Camaro!) - we were infatuated with muscle cars when we first started attending car shows several years ago. As of late, our tastes have changed to bigger, cruiser-style cars... and we were in the market for something a little older than the Camaro so we could enter more shows. While browsing the internet, my husband found this car. We found out from the seller that while it lived in St. Louis its whole life, it was built in Kansas City, and my husband's grandfather and great-uncles worked in that plant at the time! So our family could've built this car, and we had to have it.
The body is in great shape, but we put her in the body shop to have the surface rust in the jams and under-side of hood/trunk lid attended to... also some minor leaks around the windshield and back window getting fixed, and repairing rust and holes in the trunk, complete w/ new splatter paint. We just went to visit her on Sunday to drop off some replacement seals we ordered online, and I've attached a picture of what she looks like at the moment. (We're going back to factory GM white...) It's always hard to see a car in that shape, but she's almost ready to paint and will look brand-spanking-new in a few weeks!!!
Winter maintenance (should finances allow) include the installation of a bagged suspension and conversion to 4-wheel-disc brakes!
