Lowrider 56 Olds?

I know it's not the thing to do to a 56 but has anyone ever seen a 56 on wire wheels (Daytons) and juiced (hydros), any pics? I see chevies done all the time but I have never seen a tri-five Olds done.

Two guys I have seen in this area had '55 & '56 Olds converts with wire wheels and the cars looked real cool...especially when they were travelling around together.

I had my 56 on wire wheels before it got painted but took them off as soon as I got the skirts

I grew up on lowriders and i love the wire wheel look. When pulled off right it just add's the right amount of street cred and class. I like the teal and white 56 now if it had some wire wheels and air bags thats the way to go. No need to go the hydro route unless you are looking to 3 wheel or hop. My friend had a 53 ford custome line lowered on 14 in. zeith wire wheels that was the ticket right there man.

Bags are for weed, groceries and mini trucks not cars.

I would love to get an old aircraft set up but I already have a full set up for the Olds (nothing special, just 2 Prohopper pumps) and we are going with a double whammy pump with all polished hard lines for the custom 48 Fleetline. Both will never be hopped or 3 wheeled and will just have front, back, pancake and will be drivers! The Olds will be a quick job and the Fleetline will be full show.

I have an extra set of 72 D's in the garage but I'm thinking the Olds will get Truespokes.

I've been thinking about bags myself, they're so much less maintance when done right. Also the wire wheels are out of the question for me, if I do get rims it will be a set of astro supremes with 520s. BTW 360scamp I would love an aircraft setup as well but those things are expensive as hell. If I could find one cheap enought that would be the only way I would put hydros on the 56

I thought about Supremes for my 56 but they are getting played out. Kinda gets boring going to the shows and seeing the same thing over and over again.

To each their own but I think that a chrome hydro set up with polished hard lines looks way nicer than a set of air bags. Even though air ride has been around since 1909, a nicely done hydraulic set up is more of a tip of the hat to the old school, not only low lows but also to the custom guys like Bill Hines and Ron Aguire.

Just make sure you run an auto drain on the tank if you run bags. A lot of guts don't do that and then wonder where all the water and rust in their system came from. You also want a minimum of 1/2" (I prefer 1" just to be safe) of clearance around the bags at all times. Seen too many of them fail while on the road due to rubbing or guys not running the right size shocks and relying on the bags to support the whole car instead of the shocks.

i took all the bump stops out, he front has droped springs and the stopps were holding it up from going all the way down

Some of those cars look great but to me when the wheel gets close to 22 inches and the profile of the tire is around three inches it looks like the thing is riding on wheels without tires to me; I just can't get used to it.
