Hi all i have a 1968 Cutlass S and would like to ask for some help in decoding a rearend. I wanted to first figure out what rearend I have and then try to figure out my gears. Been working on my car and doing some upgrades. Car is mostly a cruser but whats having a V8 if you dont get on it every now an then. Thanks in advance for any help.

Front passenger side tube reads-kdc216A

Bottom front passenger side casing reads-GM52

Rear passenger side casing is either-87890/6789d

It has 2 ribs on the rearend casing

 

If it has a 12 bolt cover that looks like this then you have a Chevy rear which is what the KDC is and that is 2.73 gears
