I think Brian Trick had some custom made several years ago, but he hasn't been active on the site for a few years now. Jim Mitschke (monzazz) would be the best person to ask about one.

I really don't understand why the Richmond gears were made to work with the 3.08 and 3.23 carrier. Pretty sure the majority had 2.56 to 2.78 gears. I also want a spacer as well for my 2.78 carrier.
rEASON -
most OF THE posis were 3.08 and 3.23
2.56 and 2.78 were just regular OPEN carriers. Base geaRS BASE CARS. Not needing limited slip for any reason
Hope that helps.

That makes sense. Is a spacer available? The gears are $400+ Canadian, $600+ with the set up kit and bearings. Posi is nice but puts it well over $1000. I am interested in 3.90 gears and a spacer this fall but curious of the cost to get one made?
I have a set of new Richmond 3.90s that I bought a long time ago from a fellow member on ROP that I haven't done anything with - yet.
Keep me in mind when you get to the point of buying gears and I may be in the mood to get rid of them.

Since you are asking this question it appears you are unfamiliar with them.
The O-Type is a 1967-1970 Oldsmobile rearend with a 12 bolt cover and a 10 bolt ring gear. In 1971, Olds discontinued it and switched to using the 8.5" 10 bolt rear.

The O-Type was never made with c-clip axles.
The ring gear bolt circle and the center opening diameter are different than 8.5" 10 bolt ring gear.
Therefore, the 8.5" 10 bolt ring gear spacer is not the same and will not fit onto the O-Type ring gear/carrier.
If you're starting from scratch that is a good idea, but if you already have an O-Type (or three), 673 posi carriers, Richmond ring and pinion gears, and all you need is a ring gear spacer to put together a performance rearend, it makes more sense to just get a ring gear spacer instead of looking for a complete 8.5" 10 bolt rearend.
I sourced one 20 years ago for a 278 limited-slip carrier to install a 308 gear on it. National Drive Train. You have to call. They will try to sell you a 8.2" Spacer. You have to specify 8.5 O type.
It's not a hard piece to make with the correct steel and dimensions. Then you will need longer bolts. ARP had the bolts and washers. Of course if you in that deep MAW replace all bearings seals etc...

Any rear built with a spacer should never be considered for use in a Performance application. The machined step just before the ring gear flange is there for an important reason. It positively registers the ring gear in correct correlation to the pinion gear.Once the bolts are tite the only stress put on those bolts is shear.Once you move the ring gear away from the flange, the stress on those bolts is SEVERLY amplified. Many times the spacer moves the ring gear completely off the machined step,so now the ring gear is just hanging out in the air with the bolts taking all the stress, real smart. In 4 decades of doing rears,I have taken apart many rears with a spacer almost always there is wear & sometimes metal transfer on the surfaces of the spacer & differential flange indicating the ring gear moving around in.stead of being stable.Spacer plus 400 HP & a burnout with sticky tires = well try it and let me know
