70 Ring gear question

70 Ring gear question

A 70 olds cutlass open rear with 42 teeth on the ring gear would be what ratio? Thanks

If you have it open to count the ring gear teeth, it is very easy to turn the gear to see the numbers stamped in the edge of the ring gear. That will have the number of teeth on the ring gear and the pinion gear. Divide the two numbers for the ratio.

Or, count the teeth on the pinion and do the math.

3.23

3.23 should be 42 RING.... everything else is 41 or 40 or 39 etc. from the factory
