Ring gear

Cracked open the diff last night on my 71 project and all looked well. 3.08 peg leg. Noticed a marking on the ring gear of L21. Does this have any significance or info that would be useful? Thanks

Not any significance, but you should feel a little lucky, since most of the Cutlasses came with 2;256 or 2:73 gears.

Bug Man ,

If you're talking about the rear in your '71 442, then 3.08 gear ratio was standard with Turbo 400 and A/C.

Does that only go for '71? My 72 Supreme came with a 350+TH400 and a 2.73 peg leg.

It is for my 71 w/air and 400TH. Well that 'splains it then. I always thought any non posi cutlass or 442 got shorter "road" gears (i.e 2.56 or 2.73)
