Your Starfire should have come with the Pontiac 8.875" rear axle - ten bolt cover, 12 bolt ring gear. The only new aftermarket gears I know of for that axle are the 3.55s sold by Fabcraft.

Yep, We have all been waiting for these gears. Ever since the sale of that copy ...it just has not been good. Nothing last forever... I told them to sell some of the rights to make some of these gears to like a Randy ring and pinion to at least get some equity to build other things they specialize in. ?? I do not know.
I have enough just trying to keep up with the orders here.
Keep checking the junk yards and swap meets and on line forums ...keep posting wants. THAT is a PONTIAC full size car rear so all 65- 70 FULL size car rears and even low powered Oldsmobile full size cars used that rear.

My advice You buy the parts from fabcraft or any internet site, you " might" get the right parts. You will be buying from someone who most likely never even see a differentials inside You buy them from Jim at JD race and Restoration, you will get the right parts You will get phone support if you need it. Jim has built thousands of rears. Jim is a member here, User name Monzaz

You find anything in your area. RUN it by us on the forum or me directly and will make sure it fits your needs. GET PICTURES. If they are not willing to send pics ...Please do not buy it...Too risky these days.

I believe Pontiac had some performance gears available for there B body rears even a 433, probably pretty hard to find as well, Olds offered the 342 gears but nothing steeper for their B bodies.

Correct. In the mid-60s, the steepest ratio Olds offered in the full size cars that used the Pontiac 8.875" axle was 3.42. Pontiac, on the other hand, offered ratios up to 4.11 in their full size cars and steeper ratios may have been available over the counter. One trivia item to note is that the Jetstar 88, which used the 8.2" axle derived from the A-body, did offer a 3.55 ratio, at least in 1964-65. Also note that starting in May 1966, Olds installed the 9.3" Typo O axle in many of the full-size cars. Once the Type O was released, the Type P axle was primarily used in the lower HP versions of the B-body (SBOs and 2bbl BBOs). By the 1969 model year, Olds had stopped using the Type P axle.

I know for a fact I had 2 sets of 8.875 FULL SIZE CAR Pontiac 4.33 gears...Found them at swap meets and guys selling them as TRUCK gears...lol.
I would say anything over 4.11 / 4.10 would likely be a speed part from GM counter.
Catalina / 2+2 were raced from Pontiac 65 66 era I guess that was small back in the day...LOL.
