Anyone here used them? Planning on it. Easy way to have dual purpose rear,able to have rear disc cheaply. That way I can drive to the strip,change gears in 20 min and have a lot of fun,then change back and go home.What are your thoughts?

Dude just buy a overdrive tranny and be done if you want the best of both worlds.

This will be too expensive and way wacky to install.

They can build the 700r4 and even the 200r4 to handle alot of power these days. Give a tought in that direction too. Jim

 

A quick change rear has the final drive set up in the rear of the diff. pull a cover swap gears and your done in 20 min. NOT like a ford rear.Still can't go with overdrive,going from 2.73 to 4.88 with just 1 extra gear in trans?

 

Aren't most of the quick change diffs noisy due to the style of gears they use? If you were to buy a brand new one, ready to install in your Olds, it would probably cost about the same as a Gear Vendors overdrive. The difference being the Gear Vendors unit will change at the flick of a switch. That way you're ready for the occasional stoplight race. Not that anybody would actually do that. Because that would be illegal and unsafe.

 

Local racer has one for 400.00 with correct size rear brake set up. I need to get longer tubes/axles and spend a few hours welding in spring perches.Some noise from rear,nowhere near as bad as a gear drive.Then I have unlimited gear ratios available. Just seeing if anyone has had the idea to use something like this. I see the major manufacturers have "street" versions of their units available.
