differencial housing lengths

i have a 68 cutlass s candian car. it has a chevy 12 bolt open rear end.
hopefully some one can help me out. about 4 years ago while the body whas off the frame i came across a 67 canadian 442 parts car with a posi rear end.
at that time i swoped rear ends. My ? is are they the same lenght? and what other differences are there? they were both chevy 12 bolts. i'm not shure if the posi was the original to the 442 or not. Anyhelp would b greatful. thanks.

p.s. sorry for any confusion i'm new at this.
