Clunk when slow backing

I recently started hearing a clunk / pop when slowly backing and maneuvering into garage. When going into drive to align better also hear pretty loud pop..
Then again when back to reverse to enter garage. IOW hearing it when going back and forth between reverse and drive to manauever into garage.
Do not hear or feel anything similar driving down the road. ?
Mike

First I'd check the ujoints, then suspension bushings.

Yeah, my go-to check for u-joints is listen for a clunk when going between D and R.

If the clunk comes from front LH or RH side evaluate each ball joint.

X3 on the u-joints. Have someone shift the car from D to R and back while you listen outside the car. If not the U-joints, the next most likely cause is excessive backlash in the rear axle pinion.
