Any other posi options,68-72

Having a hard time finding a reasonable deal on a posi rear for my 71 cutlass.
Found a 66 reasonably priced, but owner states the 66 is 1 inch shorter.
Does everything else line up correctly?
Any other easy options for a posi?
Thanks.

Can you not build the corporate 10 bolt that's in it?

Long story.
I bought a project with a incorrect rear end,and pulled the open rear from my cutlass for that project.
I now want to upgrade to a posi, but have no carrier.
Thanks.

I would put out a wanted ad, if you can get a '71-'72 10 bolt for cheap you can put an auburn posi and gears in it for less than $1000. Mine is holding up just fine, and it was built in 1998.

I know Brian Trick (507olds) builds rears as well...although that may be over your budget.

There is an abundance of posi units & gears for the 71-up 8.5" 10-bolt.Your 71 Cutlass came with one of those rears originally, and that sounds like what you are trying to build.

8.5 would be great..The problem I'm having is finding one at a decent price.
I've recently lost my job,and the car is on stands in the garage.
My drop top is sitting in the elements, and having a car without wheels is really bumming me out...

I have a posi unit from an 89 wagon with the tow package here that I could pull apart and get you a fair price on. It would be an auburn cone type and not the trac lock style though. I don't remember if it was a 3.08 or a 2.73. I'd have to pull it apart and check. Let us know what the budget is, and we can help within reason. I also have a good set of 3.08 gears here.
