71 cutlass convertible rear end

Hi guys I have a 71 cutlass with a 350 trans/engine. I'm installing a newly built 455 engine and a turbo 400 trans. I currently have a 10 bolt rear end, can I buy aftermarket kits to make it posi? Can I purchase aftermarket gears to increase my rear end ration? or should I go with a 12-bolt rear?

That is a great rear to build. The 71-72 Cutlass/442's came with an 8.5" 10-bolt. There are plenty of parts available for that rear,so you can build it however you want it.

Thanks for the information 507Olds, is the 10 bolt durable enough to handle my 455/400 trans combo? What gear ratio would you recommend? It's a 71 convertible for cruising. And where can I buy gears/posi parts for this, any recommend brand parts? thank you.

Yes. It will be fine with the 455. There are plenty of parts available for that rear. I can supply a kit. I would run a 3:23 or 3:42,for what you want to do with the car.

Hi 507OLDS, how much would a kit cost to make it posi and change the gear ratio? What brand parts would they be? Thanks, Dan.
