65 rearend fit a 69

I have an 65 Malibu SS a oak tree got the front cap and front part of top and windshield. The rearend is a 12 bolt posi trac. Is this a bolt in for a 69 Cutlass S? I have read that it will fit but is a little narrower.

U joint are different. I had a 70 3.91 W-27 in my 64 Cutlass I raced and bolted in but the pads for the coils are different but worked.

65 rear into a 69 chassis A-body gm

Yes all 1964-1972 rears can be interchanged between all A-body cars. In this case you will have a narrower 65 housing by 1" over all... so 65 rear is 60" drum to drum and the 69 is 61" drum to drum.
Next the spring perch will be slightly different 65 perch is flat and requires a cup and bolt to hold the bottom of the spring on the persch where as the 69 and all the late 66-72 have a raised perch round 1" ish high by 3" round diameter the spring pig tail will sit around the diameter of this perch.... and the shock length travel will keep the spring from popping up and out.
The last different hurdle is the u-joint from chevy to BOP -
chevy yoke will have the 1 1/16" cup and narrower cross on the u-joint and the BOP is the M3R 1 1/8" cup with a wider cross in the u-joint...a Moog 372 will connect your chevy yoke with your BOP driveshaft.

Thank you that will help a lot. I was also told if all the numbers match for a 1965 SS that it could be worth enough money to put another rearend in the 69. I know I got huge money for the decklid with the ss badging and the badges from the 1/4 panels.
