62 Rear End-Disassembly???????

I pulled the rear end out of my 62 Olds to clean up and have the center-bore on the axles machined down. Having a problem getting the axles out. Do I have to take the bolts off the bearings and they will slide right out? Loosened the center section already. and pulled the pinion. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm assuming undo the four bolts on the axle flange and pull, use the drum as a slide hammer if needed?????????????????

I have not worked on a 62 rear but if it is similar to the o type rear , then yes remove the 4 bolts, you should not have to use the drum as a slide hammer, the drums should be off, then the backing plate will come off, I got a cheap slide hammer and kit at Harbor freight, but did not need it to remove the axles. I am unclear how you got the pinionout without taking out the carrier? you can not get the carrier out without removing the axles?

this is the slide puller I bought
