OK its not on an Olds, but am trying to get at the screws to secure the end of the column to the base. Has anyone ever cobbled up a tool to remove the tilt pins? or is there a better way to get at these buggers? BTW this is on an 89 GMC truck. The NAPA is closed and the local advance auto does not have the tilt pin removal tool. Any help is apreciated.

 

I just use a bolt that screws into the tilt pins and a slide hammer.

 

Thx Joe, I'll try that. Do you know off hand the size? I don't have any in my stock right now.

 

I'm afraid I don't - it was over a decade ago. Also, an 89 may use metric threads.

 

That is my fear as well. Thx for the info. I may just have to see about a duke's mix at the hardware store.
