1968 Cowl Seal
1968 Cowl Seal
All the repro houses list two different types. One is soft foam the other is a harder rubber. My 45 year old cowl seal is so deformed and petrified I can't tell which mine was. It was held in place with the metal clips. Does anyone know if the metal clips were used on the soft foam or the harder rubber?
Thanks,

I'm not sure what they used 45 years ago but I had purchased seals made by Soffseal and Metro (by mistake actually). The Metro seal was much stiffer than the Soffseal so I opted for the Soffseal
Here are my choices:
Parts Place lists two

OPGI lists two

Year One lists three (???? WTF????)

I had bought the hard one years ago cause my old one was hard (and smushed!)
The new rubber one is so hard that the hood would not close right - the rear would stick up 1/2" or more. Exchanged it for a foam and was much happier. Mine is a 72 tho.

OK, I ordered the foam (sponge) one from The Parts Place along with the metal clips. I got it yesterday (fast shipping and they didn't rape me on it) and installed it tonight. Easy installation (it helped I was able to use my old one for a guide as to where the clips go), looks like that project was a good one (It's nice to have the occasional project that goes easy and finishes looking nice). Thanks for the help everyone!
