They"re Still Out There

Headed to my brother's brother in Law (MBBIL) house the day after Thanksgiving to pick up the paint for my 1964 Cutlass convertible, Pacific Mist. It was about a1 hr 45 min drive in northern Indiana. I pulled off the interstate and was within 6 miles of his house when my eye caught what I believed was a 1964 Cutlass tail ligh about 1 mile off the interstate. I figured I would check it out on my way back. On the way back I clearly missed it as I was back at the interstate so I turned around. I caught a glimpseof the tailight again and pulled into the driveway and there sits a 1964 F85 Sport Coupe. A car was exiting as I pulled in and the guy rolled dowed the window and said " can I help you ?" I told him I was an Oldsmobile guy and I just picked up paint for my 1964 convertible. I actually showed him the dried stir stick my MBBIL gave me. The Sport Coupe was also Pacific Mist.I asked if I could look at the car and he agreed but told me it was not his. He was storing it for a friend. It looked very solid and he told me it came from New Mexico about 10 yeras earlier. We went into his garage as it was 30+ degrees and windy. He called his friend and we talked and I asked if the car was for sale. he said " I don't want to sell the car but I need to sell the car " as he had too many projects. He was actually a Pontiac guy. We worked out a plan and the following weekend we met where the car was located and hauled it back to MBBIL's house/pole barn where it was 70 degrees and no wind and put it up on his lift to check the frame etc. We ended up making a deal.
The good:
Very solid and straight body panels
Very solid frame
Very solid floor pan crossmembers and rockers
Nice bumpers
Very nice side trim including wheel lip and rocker moldings
Original 290 HP engine
Original Muncie 4 speed, shifter and console
The bad:
No documentation other than the title
Completely roached soft interior parts and I mean completely roached
Holes in the passenger compartment floor pan (front seat foot area)
Holes in the trunk pan but solid wheel wells and body mounts.
I have attached a few photos.

That is going to make a very nice car and it has three pedals. Love 4-speed cars.

Doesn't that translate to something like your 83rd cousin 42 times removed?

Great save on the car! It really looks solid.

Holy cow! I would drive by that car every week or so and wonder it's story. I recently saw it wasn't there and wondered what happened. Let me guess it was on Route 2 a little West of I-65?
Nice to hear it isn't sitting outside another year.

It wouldn’t take too much to make that a sweet car.
Awesome find!

He didn't happen to get it from a "Joe Caraway" in Cedar Crest, New Mexico did he? Looks a lot like the car my neighbor got rid of about 10 years ago.

Just spoke to the guy I bought it from and he said the guy he bought it from had a last name of Schoenheider. My guy bought the car around 2015 and he thought Schoenheider had purchased the car 2012 or so.
