Windshield washer runs continuous with wipers

My 67 Cutlass Supreme windshield washer didn't work even after replacing the motor. HOWEVER, now it's started working continuously whenever the wipers are on? Any thoughts on the cause? Do I have something reconnected incorrectly?

Thanks

Check to see if there is a ground to the washer terminal (dark blue wire). Or the actuator is hung in the on position.

Inside the washer mechanism there is a pawl that gets engaged by an electromagnet and activates the pump actuator. There is a spring that returns the pawl to the off position after 1 rotation of the pump disc. If that spring has popped off, your washer won't turn off.

my 69 Camaro did the EXACT SAME THING! it didn't work at all, i ordered a replacement Anco unit, and after installing it, it pumped fluid any time the wipers were on. i checked everything, then sent the unit back and got a replacement....it worked flawlessly.

In addition to this, if the arm on the pawl is bent, it will not engage properly and the washers will run continuously.
This happened to mine after around 30 years of use.
