Knock noise/tranny problems

Hello,
I am new to the forum and I have had my 93 Cutlass supreme for over a year now and I have loved this car since I bought it. I have been noticing a lot recently that my car has developed a knock when I shift from reverse to drive. I was thinking it was the cross member, or the dog bones/ torque mounts for the engine. I also am noticing after I start my car and try to put it in drive it will not engage at all. I have to let the car idle for about 10 minutes before it will work. And also I will hear a knock when the car is in park sometimes.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Your Cutlass has the 4T60 transaxle in it. If you have to wait for drive to engage until the car is warm then your transaxle is definitely near death.

Check the transmission fluid and see if it is burnt or has clutch material in it. Normally, I would say you could start with a filter change and transmission flush if you had a classic with a TH350 or TH400; however, I don't know how stout the 4T60 is. I know the early to mid 90s B bodies had the 4L60 in them. They were prone to failure.
