Windshiled Trim Clips

Does anyone have and advice on installing the screw-in windshield clips in my 64? I've replaced most of the metal in both front and rear channels. There are no remaining clips. I've been putting it off for a while. I have a drawing with lateral measurements that seems pretty straight forward, but I have not found good info on the height to put them, and where to measure from. Once installed do the clips allow for a variance or do they need to be exact?

Do you have the clips? If not, wait till you get them, and then set them in place, and you will see where to put the riots,or screw type. They probably will set on the window ledge bottom. You can also put one clip on the trim. and set it in place, and look where it sets, and then put them all the same height.

Use the studs that weld on with a spot welder. I've never understood why one would spend all the time to replace rusted pinchweld metal then drill holes in it to screw the clips on. That's just asking for a leak.

I do have the clips already with the screws but I also have a stud welder. I think it was the company I got them from that really pushed for me to used the screws. I’ll look into it more before starting. I’m pretty sure I saw directions on how to set up the stud welder to work with them.

I used the screw type, when the car got a new complete paint job. So after sealer, primer, color coat, and 3 coats of clear, they were pretty well seal off.

GM used screws on the 3 on each side clips. These seems to sit low and its way better to have them mounted when the glass is still out for clearance. Choosing the right glass seal thickness is also important so there will not be a lot of hassle to get the molding to attach to the clips. Its never a fun job.
