Tips on replacing dash speaker
'71 Cutlass. Thinking about installing a Retro Sound Model Two and using their 4x10" dual voice coil for the dash speaker. Anyone heard this speaker before? Is it decent?
I'm almost afraid to ask but what is involved in getting to the dash speaker?

I just purchased a dual voice 4X10 for my 71. I haven't installed it yet, but I plan on powering the dash speaker with the radio and powering the 6.5 kick panel speakers and the rear 6X9's with an amp.
I haven't heard one yet, but its a good idea so I'm trying it. I wouldn't just use the dash speaker though. You'll get better sound with more speakers.

The speaker was about the first item put into the dash at assembly - that should give you a warning sign!
It should be possible to do but lots of patience and clever tools will be needed.
Keep in mind not to put too much pressure on any plastic parts like the defrost ducts - old plastic can crumble easily.

Ugh. Yeah. I guess I'll take a peak under the dash when I change the radio before buying. Only have 6" speakers in the door now and it's a convertible so I don't have the advantage of the rear deck.
