replacing front coil springs 67 -any tips?

Got new set of coil springs from Fusick. Going to try to get front back to more stock looking height (and so I can get pan under oil drain).

I've replaced front coils on other models including A body GM.

Anything I need to know on these to look out for?

Any angle better than another to try to get them out?

Thanks,

D

Pretty much the same as the A-body, except you have to be careful and not destroy the speedo cable and housing that goes in the left spindle.

Be careful and make sure they are seated correctly.

Pretty sure Dan's talking about his 67 Cutlass. The front wheel speedo cable is only on the full size cars - not an issue here.

Wow, I would have sworn the subject line said 67 Delta! Guess I'm seeing things. . . Sorry for the misinformation.

Be careful when compressing the springs. The right way to do it is to rent a spring compressor from your local auto parts store. If you use a floor jack under the lower control arm to compress the spring be extra careful. If one of those springs pops loose when it is compressed it could send you to the emergency room or the morgue. Good luck.

Don't even think about using a floor jack. I you need a spring compressor, I'll rent you one for the price of postage.

Good man Jamesbo. I just mentioned it because I know it is the "Redneck" way of doing it.

Live and learn!
I didn't jack the car up high enough when i removed mine. The lower arm sprung down like donkey kick and ended up with a nice hole in the floor from the recoil

I fortunately survived!

X2!!!!
Rent a spring compressor for a few bucks! It isn't worth your own safety or anybody elses safety
I think Autozone gives you back the money when you rent a tool from them and return it.

Think about the rental as a cheap insurance policy. NOBODY gets hurt!
