2 stroke diesel engines sound gnarly. They can be doing 3k rpms and sount like it's doing 24k rpm lol . I wonder if it's even possible for an engine that big to spin to 1000 rpm. I wonder what kind of power it makes at 1000 lol.
You mean just before it bends a rod?

Notice the lack of counterbalances on the rod throws - this is clearly a very low-revving engine:

If they need a refit about every 5 years, then they're getting their bearings checked and possibly overhauled about every million miles.
That's just a guess, though.

Hey Kyle I was looking @ some older threads, I see you were getting rebuild info for your 77 olds from cutlassefi ( Mark ) I believe, Just a ? Did you ship your motor from Manitoba to him in the U.S , what kind of work did you do to it, I'm considering buying a used 350 olds off Kijiji up here and would like to know how it went. Maybe a cost as well would be helpful.
Thanks Eric
Thanks Eric
As for the engine in this thread, these engines and photos have been around for close to 20 years now. The article linked in the first post DOES have some new photos, especially the bent rod, so thanks for providing the link.
