Why????

Why is it that every time I leave this window to look at something else I have to sign in again when I come back, even 10 seconds later. I always hit "remember me" but it's getting quite annoying. It's been like this since I've first joined. None of my other forums do this so I don't think it's on my end. Btw, I'm working off of an iPhone if it makes a difference.

Secondly, and even more annoying..waaay more annoying is that I keep getting stupid pop up ads for verizon. This just started like a day or two ago. I've tried unsubscribing etc but no luck. Again, only while I'm on this site. Really getting tired of it. It's like as soon as I close the pop up, it's back like 5 seconds later..

Please help!!!!!! These issues will eventually drive me away from here if not addressed.

Thanks, Boz

Don't know, perhaps the way your pc is handling the sites cookies. Normally if you check remember me it does. I checked your issue with my pc on IE, Firefox, and Chrome, all function properly.

You need to turn on your browser's pop-up blocker. You don't say which browser you're using, but all the major ones have the feature.

For Firefox, click Tools --> Options --> Content, and then right at the top of the window is a checkbox "Block pop-up windows."

Also, if you don't already have it installed, you want Ad-Block plus.

Having your browser's pop-up blocker activated and using Ad-block are pretty much standard requirements for surfing the web these days.

Does this site have popup ads? If it doesn't then he has a problem with adware.

I don't think so. He may be confusing pop-up ads with mouse-over ads. That's where words in the postings on this site (and others) suddenly become active links, and just passing your mouse over them causes them to activate. Very annoying, and this is what you need ad-blocker for.

Regardless of whether this site has pop-ups or not, having your browser set to block pop-ups and running ad-blocker are common-sense, everyday things that anyone browsing the internet should be doing.

If he still gets pop-ups, he probably has adware/malware on his computer as you say, and he should run a program like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. There is a free version, and it is excellent.

Click on "downloads" at the top.

I'm using an iPhone. My computer is not hooked up right now. Pop up 2x while trying to type this. It's a verizon ad. Same one every time. So it's not one if those hovering over a word things. I'll look into the settings on my phone and see what I can do but it never did this before and ONLY does it while I'm on THIS site.

Your popups, then, might have nothing to do with this website. Your phone's browser software may have embedded ads. Some apps I download have ads at the top or the bottom of the screen which can get in the way.

Do you get ads when you visit other websites on your phone?

Can you install a pop-up blocker on your phone's browser?

This a ONLY happens on THIS site and only recently started. So far, I have not found any settings allowing me to block pop ups but I'll keep searching. I have not done anything different or gone on any other sites that I haven't been for the past few years. This is completely out of the blue...
For what it's worth, not sure if this is related or not, but the bottom corner of this site is turned up like a page turning. That's never done that before either.

When on an iphone this site is loaded with popups. They just happen. Sometimes if you scroll up it rolls the page up from the bottom right corner and bingo an ad. The touching of a blue highlighted word gives you the same result. Touching a banner while navigating also rewards you with some quality ad time.
