Towing- 1500 vs 2500
I’ve been looking at 2500’s new and low mileage used.
‘I’m just not sure I want to take on a new truck payment and the added size when I still like mine so much.
Renting a 2500 will cost about $500 for a weeks trip up to Bowling Green vs. an extra $2-300 monthly payment for the next few years.
Not decided yet… but it’s an option.

Here's a photo of my current tow vehicle, however this photo was taken back in 2016 when I first bought the black/silver 79 Brougham. Since this photo was taken I now have my own 16ft open trailer, and a 20 ft enclosed trailer (photos to be posted). Also, this photo was about 80,000 miles ago; the truck now has 108,000 miles on it, largely due to us self-moving from CT to Sc several years ago. I have been looking into perhaps buying a newer F-150 or even going to a 250 but really, why bother. Our extensive long haul days are over and the over the road car shows are one, two, three per year tops. Sometimes the truck now sits in the driveway for weeks without being used. It was always very well taken care of and I have a super extended Ford warrantee on it, so I'm loathing the idea of getting another one and all the bs and car payments that come with it.
I think I'll just keep what I have. Also, note how everything is dead level in this photo. Safety first.

Found a photo with the enclosed trailer attached. Loaded (with the 79 H/O) at that time, it got 8.5 mpg or so. No straining that V-6 Ecoboost whatsoever, unless it's on a really steep incline. This motor IMHO turned out to be better than the V-8 for towing/hauling, with its gobs of low end torque. I've since learned to set my adjustable hitch at a higher setting to get rid of that sag you see here in this photo. My wife had nothing to do with that.
