Oh yeah.......come on now...
You can't own a bike like this and NOT speed and rip it up to full speed at
least once. I ripped it up to 187mph and my speedo was pegged and I was
turning only 500rpm short of the DEAD ZONE on the tach....I was already waaaaay into the red.

Now the 1999-2000 model years were the UNGOVERNED Hayabusa years.
Those can hit up to 200mph out of the factory. 2001-present can also
but they require a remapped TRE that allows it to utilize the full power.
It actually runs BETTER after the remapping, or so I'm told via the Busa forums.

It's a simple $60 mod IIRC. I haven't done it yet because the ONE time
I raced my buddies 2004 R1 we both hit top speeds and yes.....my helmet was buffeting off the tank pretty damn good....that's why I was looking at Double Bubble windshields to put more air OVER me instead of right into the top of my helmet while in clinch mode with the bike.

On a side note tho......there is nothing more fun then riding a bike that
gets 33/50mpg and has 1hp per 2.85lbs of vehicle as a daily driver.

Yeah I hear you on that. I had the bike when I was living in Regina (Canadian prairies) and if you took the highway due south out of the city it was dead flat and straight for 6 miles. First time I buried the needle I cruised out of town at about 70 mph til I got to the first bend and seeing no radars I turned around and cranked it up heading back to the city.I remember that I had my chin resting on my hand which was flat on the tank and only had the one hand on the gas.I never caught up to a car but I was looking at the speedo then looking up at the road then looking back down etc.I was pushing towards pinning it when I saw the headlights of 2 cars coming out of town heading my way but still far away.Glancing at the speedo I saw she was pinned but still climbing and when I glanced back up the 2 cars were right there and went past at around 240mph ( 70 + 170 ) It's like those cameras they have right down by the track at Indy and the cars pass at over 200 mph. That convinced me to ease off but man it was a rush
