Hi everyone.

Beautiful temperature out and the sun is out. I sat down on the couch when I got home and snoozed all afternoon.

Jamesbo just because it's "just what they do" doesn't make it right. Although I've thrown their script this time. The lender has called my agent a couple times today asking if I was feeling better and if it was okay that he call me. I really was going to call him but I fell asleep. I had a couple errands to run but those will be done tomorrow. We're all getting off early so it shouldn't be a problem.

Chris if the picket fence is enough to keep the dogs out of the area, why didn't you put the picket fence up around the rocks?

Norm that reminds me of George Burns. He said he has sex almost every day. Almost on Monday, almost on Tuesday, almost on Wednesday...

Dan the selling realtor for the house I'm in now was so awful, I wouldn't give her the lockbox back. She'd call and I wouldn't answer, and she would tell me what time she'd be by to pick it up. I'd always leave. Finally she quit calling. I eventually threw the lockbox in the lake. I didn't give her her sign back, either. I gave it to a friend of mine and he cut it up for a ladder rack for his pickup. When I sold my first house I told my agent, I don't want that woman in my house. If she calls and has clients that want to see it, tell her no. To my knowledge she never called.

Koda are you going for a long distance award at the H/O show this weekend? Have a good time and I hope you don't have any trouble. Post us up some pictures. I'd just as soon trailer it up there, but when I was at the OCA convention in 1987 there was a beautiful 442 there and a ball cap was on the air cleaner that said Trailered Cars Suck.

Okay I'm hitting the sack. I'll probably be wide awake but whatever. It's AMT Day tomorrow and lunch is at 1, and the lead said if we were done with our work we wouldn't have to come back afterward. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Mike, I agree with you, all I'm trying to do is help you get to where I think you want to be

I was in the real-estate business for a long time, and I told everyone that came to werk for me the same thing. "People risk their lives every day trying to rob a 7-11 or a liquor store for a few hundred bucks. What do you think people will do for 10 or 20 thousand"

Mike - The picket fence was just thrown together from a bunch of jumbo paint sticks stapled together and painted white. It's rickety and ugly, and was never meant to be a permanent measure to keep them out of the area. It's coming down in the near term now that the moss is nearly completely established. We want the dogs to be able to go up into those areas because they're almost always shaded.

Good evening guys,
Hope everyone had a good day. Purposely got my workout done early this morning so I could ride this afternoon. I rode south about 125-miles to Poplar Bluff, Missouri on a pretty scenic highway. Great BBQ joint there where I grabbed two full sides of ribs that I brought home for dinner. My wife made vinegar slaw and baked beans to go with the ribs. Great ride and great dinner, pretty damn good day! After dinner I took my wife to Lowes for her to restock some of her refinishing supplies like paints and sandpaper. It's been a full day, but a good one. Hope everyone has a a great evening!

Hi guys, retirement party was great. A little calmer than ones from the past, I and everyone I saw there was good. Not a drunken brawl, I guess we have matured....Rainy and humid here this morning. No "Big Head" perfect...

Slant, I'm only going 350. I am sure others will be more. A LOT of people trailer. Some people are taking the boat across the lake.

Good afternoon guys,

Maggie had a vet appointment for her annual bordetella vaccine at 1100. Not a big deal, both dogs don't mind going to the vet, Monty tagged along for support. Don't ask me why she gets one, there's no way my wife is ever going to board them in a kennel. I guess if they were ill and had to stay at the vet for a few days.

I did something pretty stupid yesterday. When I was preparing for my ride I needed to pull my truck down the driveway a little ways so I had space to pull the bike out. I just put the key in, turned the ignition on, and put it in neutral and let it roll forward about 10 feet and put it back in Park. Unfortunately, that's where I stopped, I forgot to turn the ignition off and remove the key, and this morning discovered the battery was completely dead. Duh, another senior moment!!! Have it on the charger now and hoping it didn't damage the battery draining it down to nothing.

No other big plans for today. Looking at thunderstorms late tonight and tomorrow. Gonna try to get out and mow later this evening after it cools down some. There's two cruise-ins on Saturday afternoon/evening, probably going to try to hit one of them.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Hi everyone.

Got home pretty early today, because I skipped AMT Day. I can pick up my "small gift" at the tool room tomorrow. We finished up pretty early this morning, and are set up for tomorrow.

Gonna run my errands that I slept through yesterday. If I have time I'll mow, otherwise I'll do that tomorrow. I'm working Saturday, if it doesn't rain I thought I might take the Deuce and a half to work. That's always a hoot. I'll have to set that up tomorrow afternoon.

Koda just to clarify I don't look down on anyone who trailers their car to a show. Kudos to those who drive, except anyone who races the car they need to get them home. That's not the brightest idea. Most or all of the people going to Pebble Beach trailer their cars, so the organization has a drive that everyone has to go on to show that their car is fully operational. Good idea. And what a sight for people who happen to be along the route, seeing all those classics driving past.

Beautiful out. One more(two more?) to go. Hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Greg wearing a lamp shade? That would be hysterical.

First: I think anyone who rides a motorcycle in a pair of shorts and a pair of flip-flop sandals is a 100% complete unadulterated idiot. Second: Anyone who rides a motorcycle in a pair of shorts and a pair of open toed sandals is a complete idiot. Third: Anyone who rides a motorcycle in a pair of shorts and a pair of tennis shoes is complete goober. Fourth: Anyone who rides a motorcycle in a sleeveless tank-top shirt, a pair of shorts and open-toed anything is a complete douche-nozzle. Fifth: I suspect anyone who falls into one or more of the previous four categories doesn't know how to ride a motorcycle & I hope they someday are at a complete dead stop, forget to put the kickstand down as they dismount and lay the motorcycle over on their leg and/or foot. That's the least amount of pain which could happen to them for behaving in a stupid manner without regard to their own safety. It's doubtful any of these *** hats would probably learn from that simple mistake. I don't wish upon anyone the notion of being dragged along the asphalt in their bare feet and/or legs, but I don't believe some people were born with a brain.

I began buttering bricks @ 7am, stopped @ 12:30pm to have them draw a pint of the Claret, and now I'm heading back out to butter more bricks.

Oh yeah, there's a gold/cream/yellow (1970 something) Toronado next door at the little automotive service garage next to my home. It's only in for some small stuff. I took pictures of it and I'll post them later this evening. The owner of the Toronado supposedly just purchased it.

Norm - What prompted the cautionary warning about the dangers of riding without long pants and boots???

My riding buddy that I ride with more than anyone else, rides in tennis shoes, drives me nuts. I mentioned the danger to him once and it didn't take, I tried, but I ain't his Daddy. The only thing more insanely stupid is riding without a helmet!!! Missouri repealed it's helmet law about a year ago and I can't believe how many people I now see riding without one. I've never been down in the street, but went down twice on dirt bikes in my youth hard enough to snap my head off the ground and knock me out for a few seconds. If I hadn't had my helmet on I might not be here or at least would have had a TBI. Always a helmet, boots, and long pants for this boy!

God only knows how many miles I've rode in these boots and they're starting to look it, but they're comfy. When I go to buy new ones they'll be the same brand, and probably model, great boots!

The rant about shorts & flip flops has to do w/ the large number of **** knockers I witness riding a motorcycle in shorts & flip flops - that is all. I have over 75K miles on my current all leather lineman boots. These boots are ~$195 & worth every penny. I'll find you a picture to demonstrate whey a lineman boot is the best riding boot.

Actually, I thought more about posting a picture - no reason to display shocking images of a completely torn/ripped out ankle of a human being from a motorcycle crushing an ankle; but, suffice it to say, the lineman rings are the best protection from blunt trauma to the ankle - providing far more protection against ankle/foot injury. Additionally, my boots are 12" tall - providing significant protection from abrasion/trauma/and severe burn(s) should I go down. There's a reason to wear good protective motorcycle riding equipment. BTW, in my youth when I rode non-sanctioned Enduro Class I've been projected forward over the handlebars, flipped motorcycles end-over-end with me still in the saddle and been down on gravel/dirt/rocks too many times to count. When I began riding motorcycle once again ~15 years ago after a 40 year hiatus, I took the 20 hour Motorcycle Basic Riding Course (MSF - Motorcycle Safety Foundation). I'd like to take the two Advanced Street Rider courses but they're hard to find locally. Regarding riding in general - some people "get it" others don't.

Norm tell us how you really feel. I won't tell you I used to ride in my sneakers. When I first got my bike, a big Harley, I wore my steel toed work boots, a big jacket, chaps, helmet. As time went on I ditched the chaps, then the jacket, then the boots. Rode in short sleeves, but always had long pants and a helmet. Never went down, but traffic in the Atlanta area got to the point it was no longer fun to ride, it was damn work. No longer had time to take off on a ride with my buddies, and after 5 years my bike was still perfect, and I got to where I wouldn't want to ride it because I didn't want to scratch it. So it sat in the garage and I finally sold it.

I took that motorcycle safety course when I was 13 years old. My folks had taken it and were friends with the instructors, and were going to set my sister and her then dumbass boyfriend/now dumbass exhusband, up for the course. He wimped out and the instructors said I could take the course in his place if they signed a waiver. I actually did pretty good. We were riding Honda Twin Stars and similar. I guess in the 20 years I didn't ride I lost all my skills because I was never a good rider, didn't ever crash but always felt wobbly. Norm we only want to see the ankle carnage if it's yours.

Got my errands run, had a big piece of lasagna, and now to settle in for the evening. Work is early tomorrow, it should be a good day. Still beautiful out, I should sleep outside.

I once saw a guy and his girlfriend ride over a mountain cliff - they're both dead now. When I was working at that Shell Service Station in H.S. I was out on a no-start service call assisting a car/driver when I heard and then saw four motorcycles go down and come over the bypass on Route 20 (Elgin, IL). I was first on scene (of course) since it happened directly in front of me. Two lost their legs (they were cut completely off when each hit a road sign before going over the bridge and landing 40' below directly in front of me, two others slammed head first into guard rails - one on one side of the road, and the other guy on the other side of the road. They were all dead - I had to go looking for the lost legs with the police - they were in the field next to the round but we found them. Cause of the accident was riding (driving) too fast for conditions negotiating a curve but they also ran into sand - all the bikes went down, their bodies flew over the bridge. Then, I had to go to court to testify what I had scene - that wasn't fun as the wives/girlfriends, etc. were all in court. Rather traumatic for me at the age of sixteen.

Norm - Those are really nice looking boots, and I'm sure they offer a ton of protection. If I were to wear that style of boot I'd need to wear the lace up type because I like a tighter, more supportive fit directly around my ankles. When I go looking for my next pair I'll try on a few pair of that style and see how they feel.

I, like you, had been away from riding for many years before I got back into it about 7-years ago. I also took the MSF at that time to ease my wife's anxiety, but after the fact was glad I did for my own rider refresher.

Hey, while we're on motorcycles, did you have any thoughts on the styling of that new BMW R18 Classic I posted a pic of a few days ago?

Here some pictures I took of that 1970 Toronado. I really don't know much about Toronados other than the basics. That speedometer is crazy though, eh? I knew some people who owned Toronados back in the 1970s. I had a friend who owned a 1969 Cadillac Eldorado - that thing was like a river boat.

I have two friends who each own the BMW K-1600 - fantastic touring motorcycles. One of them owns several older R-Series machines. I've always admired the R-Series with those 90° engines. I like that styling for a vintage/classic BMW, but I really enjoy those newer K-1600 machines, as well. I think to each their own.

I like how the Toronado has the AC controls to the left of the steering column so only the driver can reach them.

Indeed, I thought the same thing when I was looking at that. And, I mean push-button controls. I'm not sure any other 1970 Oldsmobiles had push-button AC controls did they?

Norm - Thanks for your opinion, much appreciated! I'm toying with the idea of trading in or selling my Yamaha and buying an R18 demo unit that only has 250-miles on it. Haven't seen it in person yet or even test rode one, but I'm going to try and get to the dealership in the near term to see how I like it. Believe it or not, due to it being a demo, it's discounted to $15,800. Normally around $22K. Kinda makes me wonder if it's gotten dinged somewhere in it's life as a demo?

Speaking of BMW. This afternoon after donating a pint of the Claret & returning home, I could hardly believe my eyes while looking in front of me while driving & approaching a red light. There's a $147,000 BMW i8 Roadster in Donnington Grey w/ a Texas license plate in the lane next to me just up ahead. What an absolutely gorgeous vehicle. I reside in Podunk, USA (pop. 3800) and sure enough the car is heading into downtown Beaufort. True, we're fast becoming a tourist town mostly because of the Town's history, but we're way off the beaten track from anywhere. We occasionally get a celebrity cruising in (Geraldo Rivera on his mega yacht), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (since he lives in NC) & Michael Jordan enters the Big Rock fishing tournament each year (he was here two weeks ago); but, I've never seen a truly expensive motor vehicle around town anywhere (as you might expect to see the occasional Lamborghini, Maserati [although I have seen a Maserati here] or Ferrari in larger cities). I really loved the look and sound of that BMW i8 - what a roadster.

That's a crazy hot car! I think I'd be too scared to drive it, and would have a meltdown if it got a road chip on it. But, if you can afford the car, you can afford to have it professionally touched up anytime. Ain't ever going to be in this guy's future. My buddie's '66 427 tri-power Vette is worth around $115K, and to his credit he takes it out all the time, I don't think I could do that, I'm too OCD!

That Toro is sweet. My '70 brochure shows a Delta 88 dash with the slide levers for the a/c, (Four Seasons?) but there is a pic of the push button control version shown in the options pages. Comfortron perhaps? Love the BMW i8. great styling.

Norm, A friend of mine's brother in law had a Toro and had a giant speaker sitting on the floor under the dash where the hump should have been

No golf today. Our Member/Guest tournament is today & tomorrow, course closed. I'm not playing. Just as well honestly. I played 27 holes Wednesday & after hitting it hard buttering bricks yesterday the left-side of my back is pretty tender (painful); but I'm going to butter bricks as long as possible.

James - I'm trying to imagine the utility of a giant speaker under the dash where the transmission hump would normally reside. Odd.

Norm, Lookie what Donny gave me, His son found it at a garage sale. I know it isn't valuable [because Arnie's signature isn't rare] but it kind cool

Hi everyone.

Got out of work way later than I would have liked. The No Sense Of Urgency syndrome strikes again. Then, after we are finally done, the lead takes forever to come up to address us. We left at almost 1230. Unheard of for a Friday.

Norm that's a nice looking Toronado. And an awful sounding story.

It's overcast out and a wonderful temperature. I need to mow, I need to go check out a new veterinarian, I need to pay a couple bills, let's spin the bottle and see which one wins! I might stop over to the shop for a little while, I haven't been there in a while. Then back home for an early bedtime so I can get up and go to work at 4. Sheesh.
