Miserable day for golf. Was hoping for the best, the best never happened. The cold/warm air front was directly on the edge of our location - instead of heading on a Northerly direction it continued to dip South - drizzle, mist, 44°F & 30 mph winds - quit half-way through seven holes. Dank, cold wet sock when I got home - then another 30 minutes drying off the clubs, bag and laundry. Argh.

Norm - You said it, "Miserable day for golf." Sounds like more of a day for a warm fireplace, warm whiskey, and a hot woman!

Guy's,
Heres a couple pics of my wife's latest masterpiece. It's hard to get a good picture showing true color, but the vanity's main color is called "champagne", with the drawer fronts antique white, with the stenciled pattern in champagne. The chair is antique white with the carved rosette in champagne.

Well I have a confession to make. While I was out this afternoon I went to the junkyard. I said I wouldn't go there anymore because of their facemask policy(and that they wanted to SELL me a facemask to wear 10 feet), but I really can't see spending 200+ on a steel rim for my car. Aura's are showing up more and more there so I figured I'd better take a peak. You have to choose your battles sometimes. What I found was a Pontiac G6 with the same wheel size and tire size as my car. The tire that's on it looks great, it's 4 years old and plenty of tread. Some no name brand. But when you buy a wheel the tire is considered scrap, and the total bill for a 17" steel rim, $24. I might swap out my bad rim with this new one and see if my trouble isn't actually the tire. If it is, this one goes on the back and one from the back will go up front. Hm, I can't wait to check this all out.

Chris the dresser set looks nice. What was it before it was Champaign and antique? Once upon a time my friend gave me a set of 80s shiny black dressers. They were awful. I don't know why I even took them. Well, after not using them for about a year, a put an ad in the HOA's newsletter. 65 bucks. I figured someone would talk me down and I would have gone as low as, just take them. This woman from the other side of the lake came over with her pre-teen-aged daughter. The daughter wanted something elegant like what you pictured, the mom wanted cheep. She gave me the 65 without even quibbling and the daughter I could tell was horrified. The mom said, don't worry honey, we can put some purple unicorn stickers on them. I kid you not. Boy am I glad I was never a teen-aged girl.

So now it's cold and overcast. I can barely walk now from the rock floored junkyard. Wish I had a hot tub. I'm going to start up the stove and then sit and veg. I get to stay up late and then sleep in. It seems like so long that I've been able to do that.

Mike - That's great that you found a wheel/tire combo for your car, I hope it works out!

The dressing table set was just a plain dark brown. The people who had it were downsizing and just didn't want to move it because it would not fit in their new place. You could tell it was very old, with the antique type of lead glass mirror, and all the screws had the old slotted screw heads with irregularities caused by being hand machined. It sold within 10-minutes of her putting it on Facebook marketplace. She never marks something as "Sold" until the money actually changes hands because she has had a couple of "no shows". By the time the buyer came to get it today around 2:00, 201 people had expressed interest. She may have priced that one a bit low!

Glad you found a good deal on a wheel/tire, Mike! Chris ,your wife is awesome! Any time someone can enjoy a hobby and make a profit at the same time is great! I know I won't make a profit on my labors on this truck... And since you asked I'll post a pic, but none of them are very good that I have, I'll see.

Before

and after, mostly repairing swiss cheese, it is actually pretty good for a 56, looks better than me, another 56 model....

Greg - Thank you for the compliment on my wife's work. Looks to me like you're doing a fine job yourself on the bodywork! I wish I had your skills. The pics are great too, I'd rather look at pics of a truck resto anyday rather than furniture. I appreciate you guys letting me brag on the wife, she really appreciates hearing your nice comments. Being new to doing refinishing, she doesn't have alot of confidence yet in her own abilities, but your comments go a long way towards building it up! Good luck pushing forward on the truck!

Good morning everyone.

Tiger let me sleep in today, nearly 800. Went and had a nice breakfast with some friends at the Awful house. Now to get things started.

It's sunny but chilly and windy. I'm going to do the switcheroo thing with the new wheel today. I hope I get some results. After that I'm going to see if I can get the dogmobile in to have the tires rotated, and also a couple scrap tires dismounted from their rims. Now that the weather is going to start warming up I can blast things at work and then bring them home and paint them.

So tell me if I'm just too impatient. Last evening I answered two ads on craigslist, one for a Suburban and one for a VW pickup. Both were fairly early in the evening, and here it is almost noon today, and I haven't heard squat. I would think if these people wanted to sell their cars they'd reply. One very bad habit of craigslist people is if the car sells, they don't take down the ad and they don't reply. Frustrating. I gave up looking at marketplace. Their searching sucks, I put in one thing and get every ad except what I'm searching for. The local ads will include Virginia but the out of my area ads will include McDonough. McDonough is less than 5 miles away. Lately no matter what I put in it gives me Toyotas. I sure as hell ain't gonna buy one of them.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday. Some say it's the first day of spring. Maybe, but I've always known that to be the 21st. Not going to change my thinking at this point.

Mike - I've sold many items of various values - from simple $100 items to a 2001 Ford F-550 ($25K) to a 2007 Toy Hauler ($37K) on Craigslist. I've always gotten in touch w/ respondents immediately and I've always taken down my For Sale ads right away. I think I've been selling items on Craigslist ~10 yrs or so. You'd think people would respond ASAP. Hopefully someone will get in touch with you today. I hope the wheel flips go OK. What year VW pickup did you inquire about? I like those old VW pickups.

Terribly windy here today. Temperature is so-so ~50°F wind is 25mph - 30mph gusting to 35mph - 40 mph. I've been in spring cleaning mode the past several days continuing onward w/ this momentum

I forgot to mention I have a package arriving today from LEGENDARY AUTO INTERIORS. I ordered a set of 1971 CS Dark Saddle floor mats several weeks ago. The interior is 1971 Sienna, they don't make the 1971 Sienna color floor mats, but I'm suspecting the Dark Saddle will look just fine. Since I replaced the carpeting a couple years ago I think it just makes sense to have floor mats to hinder discoloration & wearing of the carpet.

Mike - I hope E the owners' get back with you on the Suburban and VW if you're really interested. Mynwife is extremely prompt at getting back with interested buyers. However, prospective buyers are usually not so prompt getting back to her and it drives her crazy, which in turn drives me crazy.

Norm - I think the Dark Saddle mats should look really nice with the Sienna carpet. Throw up a pic when you get them in so we can see how they look. Over the winter I picked up a cheap set of plain black carpeted mats to throw in the 4-4-2 so I could save my nice color embroidered 4-4-2 logo mats for shows. The logo mats were starting to wear (fuzz up) a little around the driver's right heel area and they are too expensive to replace when I could just throw in a set of cheap $20 mats for everyday use. I wanted to get a set of rubber Oldsmobile logo mats to use for everyday use, and I would have paid decent money for them, but the only ones I could find were almost $200 a set and I thought that was ridiculous.

Changed the tire on the car. Something is either bent or knocked out of whack in the front end. Both tires are down to cord, left side on the inside and right side on the outside. The left front, the one that shook, has a flat spot and a bulge right at the edge of the tread and the sidewall. I'm surprised it didn't come apart. I'm thankful that it didn't. The "scrap" tire I put on is in better shape, has more tread, and is 3 months newer than the others. New set of tires and an alignment on the way.

Norm I've had good luck as well with craigslist over the years, but I've noticed more people without consideration lately. I guess it's today's society. Some of us are still ladies and gentlemen, but not many. It's sad, really.

Chris I've been looking for quite awhile for a diesel something. The Suburban is a little more than I want to spend but it looks like it is that nice. The VW is about an 81/82 and seen better days. As a rule they are pricey but this one is more reasonable than others I've seen. I emailed and asked intelligent questions to both parties and have heard squat. Eh, I'll keep my money. You'd think since you have to ante up 5 bucks for a car ad on craigs these days one would be johnny on the spot so as not to waste your money.

Well I can knock off already for the day, since I did such a good job with the car. But it's nice out so I'll keep on. Maybe pizza tonight. No need to question why I drive an hour and pass two dozen other pizza places. That place closed.

Norm - I checked out the Legendary Auto Interiors site and saw they have the correct style/shape rubber mats for a 67 with a 4-4-2 logo on them for $151 for the 4 piece set. I am going to seriously think about getting them, or maybe a birthday or Christmas present from the wife or kids. They never know what to get me, so they might be a good idea. Thanks for posting the name of the company!

Chris - My Legendary Auto floor mats were $156.00 minus $31.60 (discount) = $126.40 + $34.00 (Freight) = $160.40 (Total)
They're not quite as dark Dark Saddle as I had hoped/expected but they are quality floor mats - for that I am very happy & they will serve their purpose. I'm done w/ being outdoors for the day I'll toss up a couple images later down the road.

Mike - I'm hoping you hear 'something' (anything) today regarding your inquiries.

James - You're a cooking mad man. I just made Reubens.

Chris - You'll be quite satisfied with the quality from Legendary Auto. Suggestion: Call them when you place your order just to ensure you get exactly what you expect in terms of color or if you have any questions whatsoever. They are very helpful and their customer service is spot-on - very customer centric, IMO.

Norm - The pic of the 4-4-2 mats you posted are the ones I'm going to get if I decide to pull the trigger. All my interior is black, so those are exactly like the ones I would order. I don't know how often they have sales, but they are having a 20% off sale this weekend so maybe right now is the right time if I really want them..

Sorry the color of your's weren't exactly what you expected, but I'm sure they still look really nice. I'll look forward to seeing a couple pics when you have time.

Good morning everyone.

Beautiful out, if not a little chilly. But, regardless of any vernal hang ups it is Spring for sure. Hm, exactly three months to my birthday.

My comfy bed felt too good today so I hid from Tiger and stayed in bed until 9. Decided against the Awful house. Might do lunch since I need to go over to my shop. Actually Tiger was sacked out on the couch, there'd be no hiding from him.

I texted the Volkswagen guy and he got back to me this morning. Sounds like more of a project than I want to take on. Besides, I think I better stick to something with air conditioning. Driving home in the middle of the afternoon in Georgia summer isn't going to be the most pleasant without AC. Unless of course it would be a convertible. I notice convertibles never come with a diesel engine. Wonder why that is. The smell is in the back. Noise issues, perhaps? Even the original Rabbit, whose claim to fame was the 50mpg diesel engine, didn't come with one in the Cabriolet.

So I need to get a good battery into a car that is blocking another car that needs to be pulled out. I have an unknown battery that I think if I charge the hell out of it I can put it in the car and get it to start with jumper cables. Some day I may have nice things. Eh, what fun would that be.

Okay I better get things moving. Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning everyone,
Mike - Good luck getting the car moved!

Started out chilly this morning at 33 at 0700, but it's sunny and warming up nicely at 51 now at 1030.

My wife made another sale yesterday, a large L-shaped office desk grouping that also included a credenza, bookcase, and filing cabinet made by a higher end manufacturer called Hooker furniture. Retail new they go for $2,000. We bought it for $40, and she sold it for $500. Between the ladies dressing table and the office grouping, total sales of $900 this weekend, not bad.

Highlight of my day will be going to my youngest daughter's house later this afternoon to visit with them and have pizza. Haven't seen them in awhile, her two boys are 3 and 8 now, and those two will wear me out in a good way!

Hope everyone has a great day!

We decide to not touch up the saw marks and nail holes on the batting to make it look older. The only thing left is to build some shelves in the storage closet and fill it up with skis, life vest etc

Over water. I just put gutters on one side [with walkway]The gutter slopes back to front The other side dumps directly into the lake off of the roof

If you think it would be more comfortable sitting in the open baking under the sun instead of having the shade of a hardtop roof, then you haven't driven a convertible in the middle of a hot humid summer day. There is a reason my convertible has AC.

Ask Norm what he does with his top when he's playing 18 in July.

I fold the seats down to keep from burring the back on my legs and I still "borrow" a cart top and wet it down

I prefer to keep my top down & under the tonneau cover. The AC (which I completely rebuilt) works great. I'm not a big fan of the style tonneau cover for this vehicle but I prefer the tonneau cover in-place as opposed to tucking it the rear window well raising & lowering the top whenever I like. I place a couple of large long towels over the seats when it's in direct sunlight.

Acorn (Winter) squash walnut cinnamon spice bread out of the oven in 15'.

The floor mats are not the color I would have preferred, but I'll live with it. They server the purpose for which they're designed.

Norm - The bread sounds delicious! I'm sure you won't forget the special topping . . . plenty of butter!!!

I think the mats look really nice. I think they help tie the interior colors to the exterior color.

Chris - I appreciate the comment on the floor mats - I still believe it's going to take some time for me to get used to the color. I ran out of butter, but oh hell yes is it good.

Norm, Do you have any pics of the tonneau cover in place? The only ones I've ever had were for Healy's and MG's. How does it stay in place?

BTW bread looks delicious

Off to smack whitey 8.30 tee time

James - That's the annoyance with the tonneau cover design for this model. How it stays in place (the fastening) is exactly what I don't like about it. I'll see if I have some pics if not I'll take a couple.

James - I thought maybe you knew how these stayed in place you were on this thread some time ago. None-the-less, this convertible top tonneau cover has a slide-in channel behind the rear seat & on top of the rear seat for securing one side of the tonneau cover. The real issue IMO is the convoluted plastic runner tabs attached to the tonneau cover on the rearward side of the tonneau cover which you must slide under the rear chrome trim/molding rail attached to the top of the rear deck where a normal coupe/hardtop would be located for the rear window glass panel. Some owners have removed these plastic tabs and replaced them with snaps and others have even removed the plastic tabs favoring Velcro. I think OEM snaps on the rear would have been a much better idea than these plastic tabs (which break-off in time). I might take some pictures when I'm out in the man-cave to show you what I mean. Once I get the tonneau cover in-place, I really don't like messing with it any more than necessary. Not a good design, IMO.
