And, IMO, that is the only way to eat soft-shell blue crabs; unless you hire an entire elementary school full of children to pick the meat from them; and, that would still take them the better part of this year. There isn't much 'meat' on a soft-shell blue crab.

Hi everyone.

Nice out, a little humid. I've had enough rain for awhile.

Crab, they always have crab for me, they go to such trouble.

Slow start to the day, I thought we'd be there all day. But we finished before 11 and left after 11. Here's some good news, our lead isn't going to be there tomorrow. The brake side lead is in charge of the whole shop and he likes getting out on Friday. I swear, at 630 we could say Ralph, we don't want to work anymore, and he'd say okay see ya have a good weekend.

Just feel like puttering around this afternoon. I need to get a couple things done on the black truck, we're going to see my Mom this weekend and that's what we're taking.

Look at that, working through break. See ya's all later.

Hi everyone.

Got out before 10 this morning. Strange how things perk up when there isn't a big giant thumb pressing down on things. It was so early I stopped at the Awful house on the way home.

Nice out, but clouds come in now and then, but no rain. Haven't heard a forecast. Not too hot so it's outside stuff to do.

Off till Wednesday. Took Monday and Tuesday off so I can stay at my Mom's a little extra.

Okay got more stuff to do. Have a good afternoon everyone.

Good morning everyone.

Thanks Jamesbo. We leave out at 0'Dark Thirty in the morning. My buddy and his wife are staying at her sister's, which is 5 minutes away from where we stop for gas in Alabama. He says to call him when we stop and he'll come see us. I believe he wants to see Tiger, and me being there is beside the point.

Just got back from the Awful house. They are open all night again, but have what looks like shower curtains hung between the booths, and only two people can sit at the counter. The girl that lied to me about the two egg breakfast was in the section where I sat today, and I asked another server to help me. She said okay and the other girl didn't say a word. Usually they won't do that, it's taboo to wait on another person's customer. I must have some clout there. Hm.

No rain today and it's coolish out, so I think we'll do some work in the yard. There's some branches down that need to be moved, and I might get out the line trimmer. And of course get everything ready for our trip. And I need to keep telling myself it's Friday. I keep thinking it's Saturday.

Have a great day everyone.

That looks like some nice squash Jamesbo. I don't know if she likes it, though. How old is that stone wall?

Very pleased with what I got done in the yard this afternoon. Cut down a couple dead trees, cut down a couple small live ones, I didn't want them getting any bigger. Trimmed around the back steps so I don't have to duck when I go up and down the steps. Looks a lot brighter.

I twisted wrong trying to move a cut down tree, and I have this terrible pain in my side. I hope it feels better tomorrow, it's a bear trying to drive the black truck with any kind of malady.

Time to hit the showers. Gonna relax and then hit the sack early. Have a good evening everyone.

I must be looking at a different image - I don't see a single squash (yet). I will say, that's a right fine row of eventual squarsh! Our family used to grow tons of squarsh. We'd pick the blossoms (we had tons of squarsh blossoms), wash them, roll them in an egg batter coating, then fry them up in a skillet on the stove (along w/ the morels we picked in a couple of our favorite areas). Squarsh blossoms are delicious. Sometimes we'd stuff 'em.

Mike, The wall is only about 20 years old. I had a crawl space, dug out behind it.,with a trachoe built a mini basement for the hot water heater, pressure tank and hvac, put in a screen porch above [with roof under the floor ] piled the dirt up and built the wall

It looks old [like the house] but it's a block wall faced with rock from fields around here

Norm, I only had fired squash blossoms once [at a fancy restaurant in Charleston S.C]. Oddly enough it was when the TODAY show was going down the coast on a cruise ship. For reasons I can't remember, Phyllis Diller was seated next to us . I like fried squash blossoms OK but a] I'm not a very good fryer and b] I like squash casserole a whole lot better

Didn't she use one of those long cigarette holders that ladies used back in the day? Oh wait I remember a picture of FDR in a parade or something riding in a open car with one of those cigarette holders. Anyway ...yes Phyllis Diller was scary for sure....

I do recall her w/ that crazy long handled cigarette holder. Seriously, I don't recall anyone thinking it was cool wearing their hair the way she did. Most likely far too early for anyone to be viewing these images!

It poured rain all day today, until about 2 or 3. I was in and out of the weather all day. Overall it was a pretty good day, just soggy.

Still haven't finished the 403 install, I'm waiting for some motivation. I pinched the dipstick tube between the head and the header. The easiest way to remedy that seems to be to remove and replace the dipstick tube, but its stuck pretty good. Anyone have a tip on how to get it out and back in without damage?

I'm having a tough time finding a convertible. My friend wants me to buy a Corvette, but I don't want to spend that much money. But I can't find anything else that I like. I'm afraid I'll get the Corvette and not like it because it's too hard to get into and out of. I suppose if the seller has to help me out after a test drive that would be a pretty good indication. I've got a pretty narrow list of criteria, and that doesn't help

Here ya go Mike Ill drive it down to ya

Hi everyone.

Got home a little while ago from sunny Florida. Had a nice visit with the family. Didn't get anything done around the house.

Doesn't look like anything has been disturbed around here since I've been gone. Like really, how could I tell. I'm glad to be home, though. The black truck has revealed a couple problems that I think need some attention. The AC has a bearing squeal that cycles on and off with the clutch, and I'm getting a hammering out of the left front wheel. Sort of sounds like an out of round tire on a semi. Not sure if it's a bearing, nor how I'd fix that. It doesn't have tapered bearings, it's a hub type deal with CV joints. Probably easiest to take it somewhere.

Otto is that yours? What goes on up there now that the circus is done?

Things are clouding up. I better get my squash in before something falls on it. Sorry Jamesbo. I'm in for the rest of the evening. Work tomorrow, for two days only. Wonder if they missed me. Mike who.

Have a good afternoon everyone.

Jamesbo University Avenue is pretty far from me. And besides MARTA doesn't run to Henry County.

Hey Mike no not mine, just looked at the ad when it came up and thought it is a pretty cool ride vert for an Olds guy like yourself,

They are a neat 90's vintage Olds I thought you may appreciate it and I could pass it along if you wanted the wind blowing through the hairs of tiger and you as you cruise the roads.
Just neat and hope you appreciate the suggestion.... The Circus will live here forever although they may not take the wagons and crew for a ride to Milwaukee or FLA till they get some jingle jangle from some rich old circus buffs. My neighborhood has the barns and wagons waiting in the wings..... cool stuff if you like that nostalgic way of life that appears to be long gone.
Neat Netflix out there " American Experience The Circus" if you can find it.

Cheers,

Keith

I think this is it...

Otto, whatever you do don't settle for something that doesn't drive you wild. Eventually you will get something that you really like, but you will spend less time and money if you get something you really like FIRST.

Hi everyone.

Our number is now 50 wheels a day. I'm not sure why. Talking with the lead this morning he said we don't need 50 wheels a day, our capacity(amount we can turn out) is 70 but no one wants to reach that yet, and the bins in Atlanta and the outstations are full. We finished around 1130. Next week I go to the inspection thing. I haven't been there in months.

Keith that is a nice looking car. I've always liked that style Cutlass. My Mom bought one in 90, one of the first 4 doors. Nice to drive, well built, comfortable, though the upholstery looked like burlap. There's a few of them around here for sale now and then. One thing I don't like is the hoop over the seats. Makes me think Verti-Bird is gonna come scoop me up with its hook.

Been raining this morning. Everything outside is a muddy mess. Don't know what to do this afternoon. Veg, I guess.

Have a good afternoon everyone.

Hey fellow Wisconsinite - The way I cut that quote is a little misleading that is from Mike Slantflat I sent him a link for an Olds for sale in Baraboo. I am happy with not settling for something that does not get it, the 72 supreme my brother gave me.

I enjoy reading your posts and that 66 is kick ***, keep in touch.

Nice to know that you enjoyed the documentary Jamesbo , sure was a different world not all too long ago.

Mike, Ya know that problem you've had in the past with wet fire wood?

Well, I've figgured out a solution for you. I've got 2 oak trees blown down back in the woods [Easy ones with alot of limbs and not so much to have to split[

Why don't you drive your deuce and a half up here. Cut up the trees take them home and put the canvas top on the truck and park it in your back yard

Why not bring you deuce up here. Fill it up with firewood, put the canvas cover on and park it in your back yard and make a ramp from the deuce to your house
