Mike, I want the DX sign for my shop if you go get the coupe.
MikeII, Maybe this system that just gave us one of our few ever ice storms, will bring you some moisture. I'm with you, I'm done with winter.
John, That sounds like my kinda weather. Glad to hear Aunt Carmy is doing so well.
Jamesbo, I thought it was sacrilegious to post anything positive about a Ferd if you were from this site? Altho that sure would be one to be proud of.
The Missus left early this morning. Her mom did a sleep study last night so she has extra chores this morning, and there is about a 1/4" of ice everywhere. My dog ate Sheet as soon as he went out the door this morning to go feed the mules.
Brian, my condolences to you and the family. May she rest in eternal peace.
Muggy but dry & sunny in da Swamp. High near 80 today. I'll take that as opposed to lows in the 20s.
Jamesbo, I made a chicken-sausage-okra gumbo Tuesday that I'm probably going to eat for 8-10 days in a row! When I like something, I like it. I eat it with a little brown rice, cooked with a sprinkling of wild rice, along with hunks of French bread & butter. I also slo-cooked a huge cabbage with sone onions, sausage, & pickle meat, & other spices on Sunday; so I'm working on that as well... Good w/ boiled taters or even some of that brown/wild rice.
Mike, it would be fun to get and drive once or twice, but it would soon turn into just another hunk of iron to jump off, change oil in, and replace batteries. Steer clear. (Now I'm running for cover! LOL)
Y'all have a great day of Thor, Olds buds.

No, Jamesbo... I (personally) use either filé or okra; not both... I like the okrie for a change, but my fave is filé. We used to buy it at a roadside stand in Raceland (LA), where my Dad's folks are from, when I was a kid. These Cajuns used to grow the sassafras trees and grind the leaves themselves. It was the best; but nowadays, I jes buy it off the shelf at da sto'.
Come on down!
First of two tonight. I got up early this afternoon and it was nice out, ran a couple errands and intended on doing a little bit on the wall, and it started raining. So much for that.
MikeII, I'm repairing a seawall that is holding my back yard out of a lake. The original wall is likely 40+ years old and what was built on top of it is probably 30. A section of it fell in a couple years ago and I've been trying to build it back. Not exactly sure what size the blocks are, bigger than the regular size. It's what was used originally.
Don't worry John, one more won't matter. If it comes with a good battery it will give me one more I can use to swap out with another.
Oh forgot to tell you. The black truck turned 100,000 miles the other day. So I stopped and took a picture. It had 71000 when I bought it five years ago. Not bad for an 02.
Well time for it. I'm planning on going to the big swap meet south of here this weekend. I've lived here 20 years and have yet to be able to go. So that is my plan.
Slantflat, sure do like your picture with you "one and only". Grandson has a Shepherd he found on side of the road, looking about 1/2 starved about 3 years ago. She has grown into a beautiful lady, his care and feeding and working with her has produced a beautiful and loving pet.
Couldnt resist to call the Company im trying to get, when the one ive been in conctact with guided me to take contact " at the first quarter of february".
He didnt sound too.... happy? for me calling at 3rd day
Told that hes got many calls now, quess his phone has been ringing non-stop now
But ill rather be too eager so they sure know i want to work for them. Thats how i already at my former Company jumped to "top" of it at just 4 years, being eager to do everything and willing to learn everything. And meanwhile didnt ask for top-salary.
Theres one sure trick that many didnt quess. If your not the top-dollar man, they rather ask you to leave for over-times over-time.
Well. Told to call 14th day again, when he has things settled, then i know more. Long 11 days.
Got some real worm-lovers these days! Clint, your distinction (usually vying with Jamesbo) seems to be vanishing. Any news on the "help" front?
Whelpt, TGIF, and a bachelor. Not too bad. Sending the S/F WSW motor out to a Corvette restoration guy to get it lookin' and hopefully workin' like new again. Wipers were as dead as a doornail last time I tried to switch 'em on; me thinks it might be a ground or the switch, but I'm hoping the motor needed rework after all these years anyhoots. It actually didn't look too bad, so maybe somebody R&R'd it over the last 50-something years.
So here's the "before" picture. We can compare it to the "after" picture soon, unless this guy's name changes to "Tony."
Mike, here's where I usually bow out of the (automotive acquisition) conversation. We'll focus on the wall race. I don't think either of us is to the 1/4 mile post yet.
Good luck with the job hunt, Inline... sounds as if you've been there before. Maybe you could teach my youngest brother a thing or two....
Y'all have a great Friday, Olds pals.

John, I need a more caloric friendly option. I'm not getting any taller unless I'm laying down. I don't need the worm
No. No leads yet. We'll just keep on keepin on at this point. Got to the Shop at 5:3 this morning. Hoping to get everything scheduled done today. We'll see.
It's a C-5 - the last year (2004). I'm ashamed to say I have very few pic's of it. But here is one of my fave's: I had just finished the test drive at Ross-Downing Chibby and was getting ready to go inside to do the paperwork!
Nice car! Always liked C5 Vettes. Sometimes been even considering half-seriously about buying one. Oh and targa-roof! Are you sure you dont want to send it there for test-drive?
Oh and thanks for all the well-wishes. Im not in trouble, i still have the old Company to go back if i dont find nothing else. The one im trying to get is just my nr.1 option to get. Theres plenty of companies left to ask for if they say no. Usual time to look for next seasons employeers is from feb. to march. Movement between companies during season changes is actually really high on our job.
Its not about i wouldnt be qualified enough, atleast they lied theyd like to get me ( ), its just about ( if i understanded right) do they find a spot for me. Its currently the most wanted Company to get imo, so theres not many leaving after the season, and many who would like to get there, sooo......
But im positive ill get there
Ill send it back at december when it starts to rain snow again.. Lets make a deal, you pay shipping to me, and ill pay shipping back to you..... And i can send you some of our best beer as a gift with a car
More spamming here, you cant tell im bored. Soon ill go heat sauna and leave you alone
As im huge fan of motorsports ( not so much for going to look them) but technically-wise, ive been through literally hundreds of some of motorsports greatest inventions through-out its history. Nascar, F1, Group A ( road), Group B ( rally), hillclimb, interserie, Canadian-American cup ( CanAm) etc, just to name few most known ones, you name the rest.
But anyways, i was just going through my folders where i have saved everything interesting, and i have to show you one of my all time favourites. Listen the sound. Its really wicked machine. Turbocharged Ford BDT ( nothing interesting yet), and separately helicopters gas-turbine APU running turbo's impeller at constant speed. This is some really creative thinking out-of-the-box! And it works.
I'm not sure if it's a Michigan thing but for the longest time I've noticed Chinese food places with wacky names. For instance one of them was 'Kung Food' Well in my travels I noticed this place and had to stop in to get a menu...
Cool but it was sunny this afternoon when I woke up. The lake is lower and lower. Hehe, this has got to be killing the board members.
So, Friday. Last night was trying. I worked with another guy who is a great guy, but kind of tough to work with. We just go about things differently. Chasing planes all night, parts not available, people getting in our way, and of course at end of the night when I was doing my paperwork, I found I needed to make an entry in the logbook, which meant going back to the plane(provided it hadn't been moved or flown away) and I got out of there after 6. Hopefully I catch a break tonight and can get out a little early.
Mostizzle that's a sweet looking car. Did you drive it to Wok around the Clock?
John that's the first time I've seen your Corvette. It's the best color. Not sure I'm adding to the stable just yet, the elusive video is not doing me any favors.
Jamesbo it's a little like a Chinese firedrill.
Okay off to work. Hope everyone has a good weekend.
Mostizzle, bring me up to speed on the SCX package on the Acheva. After about the 94-96 Cutlass models,I sort of stopped paying a lot of attention with what was coming out.
We had bought a 91 Cutlass sedan with the International package on it. Man, that digital dash was something else. We had about 240K on it when we gave it to our oldest daughter. I wouldn't mind finding a 91-95 Cutlass Convertible that has not been rode hard and put up wet, but I don't want to do a second mortgage to get one.
Goood Morning , y'all ! Slept in today, since it is Saturday. Taking the wife to see her new "baby" a Chihuahua, which was going be a Christmas gift, but didn't happen. I'm sort of partial to the little ankle biters, mostly cause they make my wife happy.
John, do you remember Tekee Outee in the French Quarter. I tried it once and it's the only time in my entire life I called the hotel doctor. sick as a dog and missed the King Tut exhibit the next day. Later I heard that Sugar Bowl players were strongly advised not to eat there if they planed on playing
Hope ya get the wiper motor clean and werking
Mike, How many more courses of block ya get laid??
Moistizzle, Cool car
Inline, ya need to keep sum in the freezer [or in the snow bank outside]
James, thanks brother. It not the A body I wanted but it's a neat little project none the less. I'll probably make a project thread for it once the weather breaks and I start making some progress on it.
Got home early and got some sleep and now I'm ready to go. Think I'll spend the day picking up trash at the shop. Say, what will an old TV picture tube do if I put a hammer to it? I thought if I wrapped it in a plastic bag I could break it and it would be contained. Is there some kind of gas under pressure in there that will make it explode? Maybe I should stand back and shoot it.
Might make an impromptu trip to Florida this weekend. My sister and I are still trying to find a place for my Mom and there's one just a couple blocks from where she is now and it's ridiculously cheep. I want to go see it to see what is wrong with it, or maybe it's just the break we've been needing. I'll have to see what flights are like, luckily the Super Bowl isn't being played in Pensacola.
Okay well off I go. Brunch at the Awful house then to the shop. Is it brunch when it's not Sunday? Have a good Saturday everyone.
Afternoon, all... quick entry, since I still have to go scrape leaves out of the roof gutters while everything is still dry... one of my all-time favorite chores!
Jamesbo, I remember that there was one in the F.Q., but I never went, and it's prolly been gone for 30 or so years? Not surprising to hear what you say.... What year was that? I always thought of it as a joke when I was a kid. Kinda' like Lucky Dogs. Never ate one in my entire life, and no desire.
Ever heard of boomerang flu?
No, nor had I until I caught it. Basically, you have the flu, get over it then two weeks later it comes back twice as bad! Not fun.
The sale of one of my properties has fallen through so it's back to the drawing board with regards to the new house. Not fun
But on the positive side, the diet is going ok, I've now dropped 22lbs and two sizes on my waist.
Inline. You should come to the UK for a job, we can't get enough skilled labour, for example I've had eight positions empty for over six months but just can't find the right girls to fill them.
I wonder how many more pages of this thread we will fill before you guys finish your walls?
London Cutlasss, would you post a picture of your 1955 Consul Convertible? I haven't seen one in about 55 years. Neighbor had one, said it was an "English Ford"
Rain. So much for picking up more trash at the shop. I guess I will stay home and clean house. Was all set to hop a plane to Florida and go house hunting, but the main one I wanted to see wasn't available, ie the tenants who are in there are sandbagging and not answering the agent's phone calls. Might go tomorrow for the day.
Jamesbo we've been to The Coffee Cup before. Good food but Mom says it's too far. She'd rather go twice the distance to the Cracker Barrel.
London if we're counting pages it will be a novel. When I got home from the shop yesterday I put on my boots and went out and cleaned up some of the old wall that had fallen in. It is now a big pile that will become structure as soon as the water comes back up.
Got the stove fired up already. There was still heat in it from last night, so it will be 80 in here before ya know it.
Okay, have a good day everyone. What time does the game start?
