Good morning guys and Sandy

A little rain this morning, going to clear up later in the day. Had french toast for breakfast with homemade strawberry jam, couple fried eggs, simple but good. Guess I'll work on the 48 today and install the last storage cabinet. Will have the 455 home this coming week for the 48 so gotta get things ready.

Use to bird hunt, but all of the old gang quite when the sports clubs around the state started leasing all the hunting rights on the farmers lands. Hard to find a person to go hunting with or a place to hunt. Still have 3-side by side's and 3-pump action. Sure do miss hunting quail, pheasant, chucker's, and other game birds.

Have a great day all

1-Stevens 520 pump
1-Ugartechea Model 30 side by side made in Spain
1-Stevens 530A side by side
1-Sears & Roebuck mail order side by side made by savage fire arms

All twelve gauge

and 1-20 gauge bolt action clip fed stevens I used to teach my kids to shoot

No fancy guns here just utility arms

Cool Pat,

I learned to shoot with my grandpas Mod 12 which I still have. Its a 20 gauge with 2 barrel sets, a 21 " barrel cylinder bore for quail, and 28" modified for doves.

My the bye, I mak'in sum Barbequed shrimp with french bread to sop the onion/ butter mixture up. This is jes like it's served at Pascal's Manalies in the "Big easy"

All ya need is this stuff, butter, onion, worchestershire sauce and of course sum shrimp. I melt the butter in a cast iron skillet toss in de chopped onions, then de shrimp coated with the mix and worchestershire sauce. When the shrimp are done, I jes set the skillet on a trivet on the table and dig in. Yummy

I just have a Mossberg 22 bolt-action which I bought new in 1948. The receiver holds 17 shorts and the gun fires as she did when new. As fast as ya'll can work the bolt and the trigger! When I was a young guy, 2 friends and I would crow hunt together. None of us EVER even winged a crow, but there was a lot of stories, and a lot of cigs, and beer consumed. This model Mossberg is the same as they trained army snipers with back in the 40's and 50's. Most accurate .22 rifle of it's day!

Both the wife and I are in our 80's, and although our home is protected by a state of the art security system, I felt that the old rifle might not be the best firearm to have for home defense. I went to the county sheriff's office and talked to a couple of deputies for their advice. Both of them told me that my rifle had too long of a barrel to wield indoors. Both of them told me to get a short-barreled, short stock, 20-gauge pump-gun. I found me a inexpensive Mossberg Youth model. I bought the gun at Walmart and bought a couple of boxes of Heavy Dove shells.

The next day I hauled my new equipment over to the sheriff office. The three cops in the office liked the short 20-ga. and then asked why I was going bird huntin'! They said, "Boy, ya'll need to get something that will kill someone! "GET SOME BUCKSHOT!" One of them said, "Just the sound of that thing inserting a shell will get the intruder running as fast as he can run!" I hunted all over our area and could not find ANY buckshot. The stores told me that when they put shot-shells on the shelf, they're gone in ten minutes! I bought 2 boxes of buckshot online! Going to buy some more!

I feel a lot safer, now. I sleep with the shot-gun next to the bed. My friend told me not to teach the TW how to use it!

--Don

P.S. And of course, the cops advised me "If ya'll kill 'em on the porch, drag 'em inside!"

Norton,

Just the sound of racking a round in a pump shotgun aught to scare a crook away. I know it would me. The perfect point and shoot gun.

Jamsbo,

Love Cajun shrimp. Haven't seen that mix around here. I stock up on a lot of Cajun seasonings on line because of the lack of choice here in the PNW.

Evening All!

Well the world didn't end so that's a good thing, lol!

No weather whinin today! It was absolutely beautiful!! 80 degrees and sunny all day!! I wanted to spend the day bonding with my lounge chair, but we went over to West By God Virginia and gambled for a few hours. Left them over $400.00 and came home empty handed! But it was fun!

Got home 5ish and spent the evening making more planters. Larry cut the hay fields around the house. Still pretty wet in places.

Looks like rain around here all next week and into the weekend. I'm taking vacation days next Friday and the Tuesday after the holiday, but don't think I'll get to plant my flowers unless I do it in the rain. It ain't a lookin pretty! Gotta plant at the cemetery too. I'm sure it will get nice when I have to go back to work. Don't know if we'll have a cookout or not.

Adrian!! Nice to hear from ya! I was beginning to wonder about you! Sorry to hear about your friend/co-worker. What happened to him? That is awful young.

I still don't know whether to chance going to the Olds dust off tomorrow. They're callin for rain/storms mostly in the morning and a muggy 81 degrees tomorrow. The show is from 10 - 2. I'd have to leave here by 9. I don't want to run Teepo in the rain! I put the mats and the jack back in the trunk tonight. Now I have to get the spare back in there.

This Tuesday night is the BOP cruise in out in Solon, but it's supposed to rain. I'd like to go cause I'm sure Blue will be there, so I'm hoping they'll miss on the forecast.

I'm tired, so I'll talk to ya'll tomorrow! Have a good evening!

Morning all ; it looks like it's gonna rain but is supposed to clear later. Got a spreader load of compost to haul up the mountain to my doc's mansion and spread on part of his lawn that could use some good fertilizer. I could also do some planting of the flower pots and planters on the front and side of the house. This is a long weekend for us so Monday is a holiday for most folks. It should be nice and sunny tomorrow so I may get the Olds out and running for a bit.
Jamesbo I don't do any hunting anymore but I sometimes have to dodge pheasants on the road and try to hold back the girlfriends dog from scaring up grouse in the field across the road.
Sandy I hope you do see Blue somewhere along the way soon and can get him back online here.

Evening All!

Darn.... I never thought to go over to the show as a spectator, Jamesbo! I don't know if Blue would have went. It rained over here early morning to about 11:00, then big ole dark clouds were all around lookin like they could pour rain at any minute until around 1:00. If they'd of had the show after 1:00, we could have went. It cleared up and was a beautiful day! Got up to 82! Just a perfect day - sunny and breezy.

I bonded with my lounge chair for 2 hours! Got a nice sunburn! How I have waited for that!!!! Clipped all the dead daffodils, hyacinths and crocus out of a couple flower beds. Didn't get to all the beds yet. I wire brushed and sanded a couple metal plant stands I have that were getting rusty looking, and re-painted them. We made up some hanging baskets for the front of the house. Larry mulched the one side of the driveway around the roses we have along the drive, then he ran out of mulch, so he has to get some more.

I filled the birdfeeders, and put out 2 hummer feeders. I saw a little hummer last evening! First one I've seen this year! Brought down a few summer yard things from the garage. Still have to get all my wind chimes out and hang them up.

Jamesbo.... those eggs would have to cook a lot longer before I would eat them! They still look raw to me, lol. I'm one that if I eat eggs out, I have to tell them "well done, kinda brown"! That does look good though.

Well if it's not rainy Tuesday evening, Blue may be at the BOP in Solon. I might go out as a spectator and see if it's not pouring. I believe it is supposed to rain all week though, so they may reschedule it.

Citcapp.... I don't have Blue's email address. I only PM'd him on the site here. I'll just have to go out to his house one day and see what's up. I miss him terribly!!

I heard there were some awful storms out Dallas way - hope Rob and all made it through ok. I only caught the tail end of the story. Well better get stuff ready for work in the morning. Days like this just go too darned fast!!! I'm looking forward to my 5 day weekend coming up though! Talk to ya tomorrow!

Yep.... we're bracing for the storms that are coming our way. It was sunny earlier, but the clouds have moved in and the wind has picked up. Those poor people in Minn. & Missouri!!! Hope our friends there are all ok! What a sad, sad thing. I guess the storms we're expecting are from that system. Hope we don't get any tornadoes! The week's not supposed to be a complete wash out, we'll have breaks in between rain/storms they said. I truly wish I could send ya'll some of this moisture.

Clay is off today. Brian is back from his sales calls in the Indy area last week. It's a quiet morning in here. I brought the planters I made and put on each side of the door out here. They look nice.

Jamesbo..... that egg stuff doesn't look very good to me. I can eat "dippy" eggs, if the whites are not moving, lol! Aren't you golfing today?

Have a good day all and stay safe!

Morning ya'll, been pretty busy around here, same old stuff. My thoughts go out to all affected by those tornado's.

Sandy, the guy who died was doing this new thing called "planking" where you lie down like a board and someone takes a photo of you. I don't understand the draw to these stupid things myself. Anyway he tried on a balcony and fell off. Very sad.

If only I could go to bed with a loaded gun beside my bed, that would be so good, not that I really need it where I am but thats not the point is it The gun rules over here are so strict it's not funny. The first time I fired a gun I was in another country

Good golf score there Jamesbo, I'm not even close to that when I play without a partner

We have a "Safety Day" at work today so they will be providing brekky, but I will have to wait a couple hours for that After all that talk sooner would be good, lol.

Have a great day everyone

Crap, Adrian! I saw that fellows picture on TV. They've been showing the dangers of this new "planking" that young adults are doing now. A lot of kids are dying. Where in the heck do they come up with this stuff?? Who would think to lay flat on something and cause a new idiotic stunt? I'm sorry, but I have to wonder what are in some of their heads. That's just sad, I'll tell ya.

I saw Nicole today at lunch time. First I've seen her since Mother's day. She doesn't look real good to me. Not getting enough sleep since she moved in with Dave and his room mates. A lot of late nights and not much eating right and sleeping. She said she's job hunting again, but I get the feeling she's not looking too hard. My God I've never seen someone go through so many jobs in such a short amount of time! Oh well, it's her life. She'll learn I reckon. I told her that the 25th will be one year since she graduated - is her life where she wants it to be? NO! She hasn't advanced any in a year. It really makes me sad. She could do so much if she wanted to and had any self discipline. Can't get anywhere in life staying up half the night and sleeping most of the day away. But what do I know - I'm just mom!

Jamesbo.... you make me laugh! I only eat pop tarts on Fridays. I'm healthy the rest of the week. Just cook them eggs a little longer, and I'll eat em!

I'm surprised that it made the news over there. I worked with him for around 3 years . Just crazy some of the dumb s*#t people do really, step back and think "if I do this just how bad will I get hurt case it really is a dumb idea". Then no more deaths, simple.

I asked Nicole how she was doing and how her job was but she didn't reply yet. Hopefully she will get everything sorted soon, for everyone's sake not just hers. I will keep trying to head her in the right direction too Sandy cause she is a wonderful person, just needs some guidance. I think we all did at that age, some of us are/were lucky enough to get it.

Sandy, You're like my Super Model. She start's de ole Chinese water torture on me.............. and drips water on my forehaed until I say OK, I give up. A think the technique is passed down from mother to daughters. How to slowly torture a man until he gives in.

Well it looks like a wet day today so nothing to do outdoors. Might go and clean up the garage at my mom's where I keep the Olds over the winters. Need to get out of the house and do something.
Sandy I can relate with you on Nicole and not doing anything with her life. Kenneth has been out over a year now and is not working right now either. He only works for me to get some money so he at least can put gas in the car and pay insurance etc. He looked into the military and needs to make an appointment to meet with the recruiter , but he has been putting it off. He is not looking really hard for work either as I think he could find something. Nothing he wants I suppose as the jobs out there are ones yopu have to work hard for not much money.
Well have a good day and Jamesbo maybe y'all will get some rain soon. We have had to much of it in the N.E. so far this spring so I assume we are getting your share.

Morning All!

What an evening we had around here last night! Storms came in around 8 pm. In all the years I've lived here in Twinsburg, I've never heard the tornado sirens go off! Scared me!!! I went out and planted flowers in the bed out by the road when I got home, and it clouded up pretty good. I thought - I'll plant until the rain comes. There was thunder all around, but it never rained. I painted the plant stand - wind was blowing & thunder rumbling, but still no rain. Then the sirens went off! Black clouds all around, some of the areas had pretty good sized hail coming down. We didn't get any, thank God. Tincanio would have gotten all dinged up!

We finally got rain - blew in so hard you couldn't see through it, only lasted a few minutes then it got all light outside again. Got another round of thunder, lightening and wind around 10 pm. It was not a good evening. I was gonna head to one of the hallway closets because we don't have a basement, when those sirens went off.

Jamesbo...... that's a raw egg, you shi*!!!

So today it's about the same out here. Humid, cloudy and storm chances all day long. I don't know if the BOP show in Solon will be on tonight or not. We'll see if it clears up and moves out of here or not.

We have no computers again here at work. Brian is working with Houston - no one in the IT dept. down there yet. An hour behind us. And they pretty much keep their own hours anyhow. Friday, Windstream replaced our modem with a new one, and computers worked fine.

Adrian.... don't look for any replies from the heathen, lol! When she doesn't want to talk about something, she ignores it! She sure doesn't get this lack of wanting to work for things from me! She's always seen me get up and go to work, whether I was sicker than a dog, whether I hated my job or whatever. I have a strong work ethic!! I think it's just her whole generation. They want to start at the top and work up!! What's that old country song? "Mama tried to raise me right, mama tried"

Bulldog.... did ya take any pics at the show?

Have a good day all!

Sandy, No I didn't have my camera with me. I normally keep a camera in the glove box of the Cutlass, but take it out when I store the car for the winter just never got around to putting it back in the car. If I had of been intentionaly going to the car show I may have remembered to bring it. But I was just out cruising when I came across the show. [ camera is now back in the car] .

I just checked the weather - showing just cloudy later on and only a 20% chance of rain, so the BOP will probably be on in Solon tonight!!! I'm going home at lunch time and uncovering Teepo and get her ready to roll when I get home tonight. I won't get out there until around 6, so most of the spots will be taken.

I'm hoping Blue will be there!!!!!!!!

Mawn'in all

cut /paste "Anutter hot dry one down ere"

Got a busy day today.

I curious if Sandy saw Blue last nite.

Scot,

FYI Sandy is a car show nut and wins trophies like crazy. I think its a lawn chair feddish or sum'in. Anywho, brace yourself fer Sandy's weekly post of Teepo wit more trophies. Dur'in de season, It's kinda like not hav'in to leave home and still see'in a bunch of car shows.

It's jes not my thing. After 35 years in de shopping center business star'in at bricks from a park'in lot, I hope I never see asphalt or shore junipers again.

I also know whar you HVAC guys leave your trash. On de roof. If all these copper thieves knew how much was abandoned on shopping center roofs, they'd go crazy.

Well dis year, Mr. Ground hawg and Br'er Rabbit have already distroyed my beans and brocolli. I've got to trap de suckers or quit. Fer reasons known only to dem, the don't sem to botehr my maters and taters much. Don't know about Okrie yet. My entire vegetable crop may amount to nutt'in more dan stewed okrie and maters.

Enjoy your breakfast and have a wonderful day

Rain today......what a suprise Everytime it dries up a bit , I gotta mow the lawn. I mowed the field last week and it could be done again Looks like I will be working on cleaning up the garage some more. First I gotta get another tool chest and drawers. Too many tools laying all over the floor and shelves. Organize , Organize.
Thursday and Friday look clear but I got so much to do I may not get out in the car much. Maybe the weekend will be nice even though they are calling for rain again.

Good morning all!

X2 on the cut and paste scorcher.

Sandy has a beautiful car and I hope she takes home first prize every show. You go girl! I would love to be able to show off my Cutlass, but it needs a ton of work first.

Speaking of HVAC trash leavers on de roof, there was a shopping center in Macon where the GA Lottery place was on Eisenhower Blvd. that thieves stole every single unit off the roof. I only gave the Lotto place a quote but the insurance for the rest of the whole shopping center must have not been up to date, because every single business shut down right after that.

I had a mole in my garden but he left for greener grass on the other side of the fence due to the drought. It's them dern pesky squirrels that think my maters are in the wrong spot and dig them up so dey can plant an acorn. LOL I have caught around 15 in my hav a hart trap and relocated them to the wooded area way down the road. However there are still about 8 - 10 more that are slicker than any DuPont product on the market.

I hope everyone has a great day! Last day of school for the kids here, so I'll be enjoying this last day of "calm before the storm"

Morning All!

Beautiful sunny day here this morning. Going up to the 80's, but severe storms coming in late evening again. Those poor people in Oklahoma now! It's getting ugly out there.

Well I went to the BOP in Solon last night. Will post pics soon.... Scott, yep ya got to get used to my pics as Jamesbo said, lol! I love to take em and I love to share em!!! It was a beautiful night for a cruise in!!! Not as many cars as last year, there. I didn't win a plaque, but I did win the 50/50 drawing for $167.00!!!! Teepo money, lol!

Blue was not there. I thought for sure he'd be there. I walked around the cars 3 times just to make sure he didn't sneak in. I just don't understand. Maybe he decided just to get out of the whole old car thing, I dunno. It makes me sad. Teepo and I will have to take a drive out to his place one of these days.

Jamesbo.... you sure make a fancy lookin waffle, lol! Blueberries sitting there, what is that green leaf thing? Sorry to hear about your garden. That's why I can't plant one. Too many deer and varmints around. It's bad enough with just the deer in our yard eating anything and everything. Destroying the fruit trees. Especially with how much it costs now to replace stuff. These city deer ain't afraid of anything.

Well gonna download my pics now! Have a great day all!! I'll start a new thread with the pics!
