Mike / Allan - unfortunately the drug issue is all over the place around here so not sure where I can move to get away from it.

Supposed to go to the pawn shop tomorrow to get back the jewelry. Hopefully we will be able to recover everything.

On another note, tonight I was working on the Cutlass differential housing. Decided to clean it and change the oil out, man that stuff is thick and black. Probably never changed in 43 years.

It's a V6 automatic convertible. Anything further up the food chain would have required a mortgage. I got a few dollars off because Ford has some plan with Delta, there was some rebate money, and I think this particular car had grown a little long in the tooth.

It drives really nice, and it's comfortable. We put the top down when the salesman was giving his delivery bit, and I just left it down. Well when the sun went down it was cold as hell so I just turned on the heater. I stopped for a bite then put the top up. It will probably just sit on the neighbor's driveway until I get back from New Jersey.

Mike - congrats. So now you and Paul are officially the Stang guys here. What were the magic words? Something like "I can get you into this car faster and with less effort than the pants of a two bit hooker"?

My bro is feeling much better. Just got back from the hospital. He's up and walking around but still having some issues. I couldn't believe how much medication they're giving him, and he's not too happy about it either. They won't let him leave till he has at least one poop. Wierd huh?

EDIT: ESC on my car means Electronic Stability Control.

Afternoon all.

Allan I'm glad your brother is doing well. I think one could expect a few issues after a major surgery like that. It is an odd criteria for "discharge."

I guess Jamesbo hasn't found his tome yet.

Here is the debut picture of the Mustang. Funny, I'm not usually one for ordinary or mainstream stuff, and here I buy the ubiquitous Mustang. I don't know who decided everyone wanted grey or silver. Not sure what I can do to spruce it up a little. The magic words were, I could buy a new one cheeper than the used one I was looking at. I had a little negative equity and the rebates took care of that, plus they just wanted to move a new car. So who was I to argue?

Scot I think you should buy the racetrack. Who better to be the next custodian? No not that kind of custodian.

Went and looked at a Vista Cruiser this afternoon. Found it on craigslist and the guy had an optimistic price on it. He wasn't there, he works nights so he said go check it out and call me tonight. It's got some rust issues, needs tires, rust just starting around the roof glass, roof glass delaminating but not cracked. He told me it needs wheel cylinders and a master. It's a good start but needs everything. I don't know if even I would lowball him as much as it needs. I've got a patch of weeds this thing would look great sitting in.

Work tonight. I have no clue what the weekend will bring, but I have a feeling it will go fast because I'm not even close to being ready for my trip. Wish I could take the new car, how fun would it be to drive 15 hours with the top down.

Okay have a good weekend, Happy Fathers Day to everyone. It seems early this year.

Mike the 'stang looks good, if you take a long road trip with the top down, remember a cap and sunscreen. Alllan, good to hear that your brother is improving, my oldest bro. had a stent put in 6-7 years ago, but refuses to quit smoking. Gotta download Homecoming pics.

Evening everyone. Well, did not get back the stolen jewelry today. Was supposed to go get it but they backed out. Hopefully Monday afternoon.

The good thing was I had more time to work on getting the Cutlass ready for GM Carlisle today. I stripped the gas tank of undercoating and found a really mint original tank with all the original blue colored type and markings on it underneath. Going to clear it tomorrow and take a pic.

Mike - nice looking Mustang. The new 6 cylinder is such a nice car, don't blame you for getting that over the V8.

My mother’s best friend was married to my dad’s oldest brother and introduced my mom an dad. So I got sum closer cousins [actually more like brothers] Anywho his boy and his sons were coming to visit de mountains next week

As fate would have it, my aunt passed away jes before her grand son and great grand sons arrived. She was 99 [woulda been 100 in October]

So, De trip got postponed til after de funeral on Monday. But since more family gonna be in town, we’ll have more in de mountains..Kinda an unplanned family reunion.

Meanwhile, de super model went to de beach with 5 sisters. Check you local listings fer de sibling mass murders on de Gawga Coast.

In utter news, Uncle Don [whose not my uncle but someone I’ve known since I was 7] lost his black lab “Smokey” after 18 years of being his constant companion. At 86, hr still wanta anutter one.

Zo, last week de Super model and uncle Don go to de shelter and pick out “Inky” Well “Inky” so it turns out, didn't last a week tearing up an 86 year old man’s house, so I got to give him a ride back to de shelter yesterday.

It’s a “no kill shelter” so “Inky” isn’t in any peril, actually, he acted like he was glad to get home. What he needs is a big yard full of yard apes not an old man’s mountain home

Zo, tomorrow, I get ta go to Standing Rock Ala [pop 128] fer my aunt’s funeral. De Super model and her sisters hopefully will make bale [after de killings] and be home to go with me.

I’m kinda likeing it up er wit jes Red, it's sooooooooo much simplier

End of tome

Howdy everyone Happy Fathers Day.

Nice day to sleep. Should be a nice night as well. I know we're having pizza at work tonight, because the foreman is happy that we've got all our training done for the month. That should be the least of his worries(he gets paid extra for that) but heck free pizza.

Jamesbo Godspeed to your aunt. How nice to have the impromptu cast of Sparticus in the mountains.

Where's Clint been? I hope I didn't run him off. I'm sorry Clint I said it should rain on you. I was only funnin' . You know I'd never wish rain on anyone.

Darrell I hope you get your stuff back tomorrow. If you press charges would the court mandate rehab? That might actually be a favor to her, though I don't think she'd see it that way.

Dan years ago I bought a 59 Ford Skyliner in Chicago and drove back to Atlanta. It was a nice September day and I had the top down most of the way. By the time I got back I had the worst sun burn I'd ever gotten.

Well it's time to start night #2. Hope everyone is ready for the week to start. Official start of summer coming up!

Back in '82, when I bought my '76 Vette, I pulled the T-Tops and went for an afternoon cruise, when I got home I was light headed and nauseous, I crashed for a couple of hours, and took stock of my glowing tater! I wear a cap at all of the car shows that I go to, and generally when outside in warm weather. It doesn't help that my hair keeps getting thinner.

Well, Fathers Day is winding down and I didn't have to do anything today except enjoy. Life is good.

Dan? Bin dere donedat. That's why I don't have T tops anymore. I also don't use the sunroof on my Sonata. What a waste of $$ on an option package.

Jim - Yew en reddog hav fun in de mountains. Condolences on your Aunt's passing. 99 is a long life and she probably had stories to tell if anyone would listen.

Darrell - That sucks to be forced to wait to get your property back. You should also sue that girl in a civil suit for breach of trust. You'd win.

Mike - ok, it's now day 2 with the Stang. What ya gonna buy next? I know you're already thinking that. Seems so appropriate that this vid has a black 65 Stang in the background (00:24). I'm thinking that something blonde and wearing black like this would slip nicely into that new Stang of yours. Carrie Underwood rocks!

Hey everyone. For those celebrating, hope you had a great Fathers Day! I got to play tennis today for 3 hours and went over to my parents house for dinner. The weekend went by to fast.

Jamesbo - sorry for your loss.

Allan - yes you're probably right about winning a civil suit. The only problem is that she doesn't really own anything. Once the drug addiction took over, she basically hocked everything she had just to keep getting a fix.

Mike - yes the courts probably would mandate that but she already agreed to go willingly to a rehab place.

Have a good night everyone.

Darrell, wouldn't the Police make the Pawn shop give the items back?

I think the police do a seizure first on anything that is determined to be stolen. It's the Pawn shop that's going to be the big loser in this case when the merchandise is given back. So it turns out there's multiple victims. Don't know if the Pawn shops have insurance that covers a bad pawn though. Good thing they're required to keep accurate records though.

I was unsure as he didn't file charges. I know around here, pawn shops have to hold merchandise for 30 days in case it has been stolen.

Yup, even up here they have to hold it. I believe there's a squad that makes the rounds to the pawn dealers at least a couple times a week looking for anything reported stolen.

Mornin all.

Happy belated Fathers day to all you dads.

Mike, I'm Here. You can't run me off that easy. Speaking of sunburns, I got a pretty good one right now on my left arm. Thats what happens when you drive 4.5 hours south in the morning, and 4.5 hours north in the afternoon in a truck without a/c.

Jamesbo, Sorry to hear of your Aunt.

Allan, I'm with you. Verts just aren't my thing. And besides, With my MPB I'd have to always wear a bonnet anyhow.

Have a Monday all.

Morning all!

Sunny and humid here. Going to be one of those weeks again. I sure miss my desert.

Hope you all had a nice fathers day. Larry worked on his big tractor. It hasn't been starting. He replaced the solenoid for $200 then found out it was a little plug in contact thingy somewhere that was all corroded. So he was happy to get that done. He got the little gas furnace hooked up out in the back garage and the gas line ran over to the house. He dug the trench for the line a couple weeks ago. Now he has to cut through the house garage wall again and run the line through it up in to the attic and hook in to the main gas line. I tried to tell him to run a line to the garage when we were first
getting the natural gas...... what do I know??

I worked out in the yard all day yesterday. Putting all my little cute decorations in my flower beds and such. Don't know why. Then Jr and the little bratty princess came over and Larry grilled. I bought a poke tenderloin and he did steaks and chicken tenders. Nicole wrote some things in his card that I hope hit home with him.

So Steve has had his heater on for the last hour and a half. Dummy doesn't realize it makes the AC turn on quicker. Which is fine with me. I won't even go into the new thing with the control freak and the thermostat. Soon as I have my surgeries and find out things are progressing as they should be, I might start job hunting. I don't need this pre school behavior every day.

He is all leaned back in his chair telling yet another person about the problems with his toaster looking Flex not starting again. He's on his 5th rental car lol. Ford has replaced the neutral switch and all sorts of crap on that thing. It will start for a few days then it won't start again. So back to the dealer he goes with it. It's been going on for over 2 months now. Things come back to people in mysterious ways.....

I didn't win anything at the show for cancer I went to on Saturday. Cool trophies too, with the cancer ribbon sign on top of them. It was all participant voting so I wasn't surprised. I got there late. It was a 42 mile drive one way. I met the nicest young man there! He came over to my car wearing an Oldsmobile t shirt. He is restoring a 72 Cutlass... he had it there and I just loved it! It's in rough shape right now,but I think he'll get there! I told him how happy I was to see a young person sharing the passion for the cars these days. It did my heart good. He went and got his dads 72 and brought it. Very nice! His name is Keenan, I think, and he's on this site he said. I have to try to look him up. He's on under his own name. Keenan or Keegan... knew I should have wrote it down. He said he just posted a question or something on here last week. He was a great fellow. It was a nice show, lots of cars. So many cancer survivors there. We all posed for a group picture for the newspaper there. It was a gorgeous day.

Newton Falls show is this coming Saturday so I'll be cleaning Teepo every night this week. I haven't really cleaned her to my standards yet this year. Just haven't felt like it. But I'm falling behind on my trophies so far. Of course that was the first 'show' we've been to so far. She'll kick butt at Newton Falls.

I got a packet from the Akron Plastic Surgeons this weekend and they have me scheduled for Oct. 2nd at 6:30 am. I still want something earlier. I'm hoping when I talk to the Cleveland Clinic guy next week that they can help me out. I want to get this years bills paid off next year, not incur more!

Darrell... sorry to hear about your problem! Thats horrible. I don't know what has happened to kids. It's sad.

AllanR.... glad to hear your brother came through alright.

Our QA managed in Houston was just diagnosed with colon cancer, and the CT scan showed something on his liver too. I really like him and this makes me sad. He's 78. One of the guys in NY just had surgery for liver cancer. Im really fed up with this cancer crap everywhere I look!

Well its noon so I think Im gonna put on my shorts and go eat out in my chair. Have a good day all and pray for Homer please.

Waaaay more info sharing than necessary. It must be a real beeatch driving to work half nekked..... Can't be THAT hot in there.
Too bad no hardware at the show. I think I know who you're talking about. Was his car 'sort of orange with gray primer'?

TY for the + thoughts on Glenn. He's being released today to my sisters care for 1 week before he goes home. Dr says he needs to be monitored 24/7 for a week. Lucky she lives only blocks from the hosp and has a bungalow, so not much in the way of stairs to watch for. He seems to be walking better every day but still gets winded pretty easy. Could also be the meds he's taking.

Remember I said the hospital said they wouldn't allow him to leave till he had a poop? When I visited him on Saturday I offered to 'go' for him. We both cackled about that because they'd probably analyse it and wonder where he got some spicy pepperoni.... Hospital food really sucks from what I've seen of it.

Good Mawnin All

Copy/paste hot humid days with a sprinkle of afternoon t-stroms

I had an astounding Father's Day weekend. We rented a pontoon boat and pulled the kids on a tube all over Lake Sinclair. Everyone got sunburned but me I had the top up on the boat for my shade Every now and again we'd stop and everyone would just jump out and start swimming

Last evening the second oldest and I jetted up to McDonough and they had a huge turnout at Summit Racing and Hot Rod Walt & The Psycho Devilles put on one heck of a show. There were only two Oldsmobiles there, both '67 442's from Lansing

Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do...

Mornin all.

Scot. I thought the same thing. That would be a great way for you to spend your time. You look like a track owner to me.

Sandy, The kid started at the Hospital yesterday. They just threw her in sink or swim. She was really overwhelmed. She has a lot of learning to do on the small animals. They lost a poodle on the operating table. ruptured spleen.

Allan, You still have snow in the yard?

Mike. Pretty car. looks like a ball to drive.

Have a Tuesday.

Good morning everyone.

Jamesbo I'm sorry I wigged on the mandatory daily participation yesterday. For some reason people wanted to talk to me on the phone yesterday afternoon, got to work late, took turnover and never looked back.

Scot I figured if anyone would notice those bowties it would be you. My neighbor has a 68 Camaro in the garage he's rather proud of. Maybe I'll put some cheezy signs over the Chevy ones and take a picture and tell him it will look like that until he comes home. He's due back in November. I wish I could have made Summit last night. Work is really starting to get inconvenient. Next time I can go is June 30.

So I'm leaving tonight for places up north. Not really looking forward to the long drive but it's sort of hard to check a 4x6 piece of fiberglass on an airplane. It will be good to see my neighbors, I miss them.

Okay gonna hit the sack for a little while then start getting ready. I'll check in a little later hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all!

Tropical humidity here today. Just wet and yucky outside. Supposed to be around 90 here today. Summer weather finally. Saturday is the solstice, first day of summer so we'll start losing minutes of daylight again.. I like this being daylight until like 9:15.

Started cleaning under Teepos hood last nights for Newton Falls on Saturday. Supposed to be a 40% chance of storms that day. Figures. I'll be working on her more tonight. Don't think we'll be doing much Cruisin this week.

I should have went to the Riverfront last night but I didn't. Had to vaccum the dirt from the spilled planter out of Tincanio when I got home. It was cloudy and a powerful breeze came up but it didn't rain any. I called Jean and she said rain came down so hard there that you couldn't see a foot in front of you! I watered the planters and the front flower bed.

Jamesbo... sorry to hear about your aunt. I thought I said that yesterday but chemo brain again.. My mater plants are getting bigger now with little maters on them. My green beans are getting bloom now! They look good. I got lettuce seed but never planted it.

Brian was just asking me if my hair was coming back in yet. I told him it's starting, but I was never bald as a bowling ball to begin with, lol. We were talking about the heat and I was saying how hot these cancer hats and wigs are. Breathable my ***! None of these things let any air in to your head. Anyhow.... he thought it was unbelievable that neither Larry nor Nicole or anyone has seen me without hair! I told him it's very personal to me, everyone is different. He loves to tell everyone about all his problems. I said I'm a very private person. Gee... imagine that! To me it's no ones business what I look like without my hair. He just couldn't believe that. I told him the wig won't come off until I have a pretty good length of hair. I don't care that he went around bald. That was his choice. Mine is to stay covered. He annoys me....

So I put tincanios floor mats in the washer last night with soap and fabric softener then forgot to turn on the washer until this morning! I did that over the weekend too. Chemo brain sucks. I'm forgetting so many things. Just space them right out. I'm dropping a lot of things too anymore. Like I have no grip.

Clint.... I'm sure your daughter will get it! Nicole was pleased last week that doc let her do some kind of procedure all by herself! My cat has a lump of some sort under the skin on his left side that I'm worried about. I told Nicole to take him in and have doc check it. It better not be cancer. Seems lime everytime I turn around, someone has friggin cancer!

Well you all have a good day. I gotta get off here.

Jamesbo, I'm sure you know our parents and their generation did things a little differently, they didn't air their business like everyone does today, and maybe a little more restraint wouldn't kill us. Though sometimes you wonder why things were never brought up, I grew up knowing that my mom had one sister, my aunt Jenny, it wasn't until her passing that we found out that she had another sister that left home when she was about 18 (1930's), they suspect that she ran off with someone in organized crime (according to my 76 year cousin), the "Chicago" folks came up to Allegan County in Michigan to vacation back then, but she was never seen again.

Morning everyone.
Not much happening. Cool and overcast here but pleasant.

Mike - safe travels. Enjoy the company.

Clint - yes sir! Been gone for some time now. Wanna send Earl up for a visit? The Hells Angels yard next door has grass and weeds over a foot high that he'd probably enjoy. Then he could crap all over the place and improve the smell from there considerably.

Scot - sounds like a blast on the pontoon boat. Always wanted to rent a houseboat with a big slide.

Jim - how was the funeral? I know you probably see more than a fair share.

He also had the rear window of his CS blow out while driving down the highway. All the butyl had dried out and there wasn't any outside trim to stop it. Glad to hear he's as nice in person as he is on the forums.

EDIT: This would be him. Keegan

Hi everyone.

Getting ready to head out. The dogs are in jail and I'm pretty much all packed up. It will be a long trip, but since I'm driving at night I will entertain myself with thoughts of my peers changing an engine or repacking a strut. Or listening to the inane blathering of the management.

Allan that sounds funny, the back glass blowing out. Not quite as dramatic, but when I was driving my green Oldsmobile on the highway once the driver's door mirror departed. Just flung right off. It was a little loose and I would push it back to its mounting point, but I guess going 80 on the highway was too much for it.

I hope Keegan joins us here.

I saw a picture of a houseboat once, that has twin Slat 6's. I love the Leaning Tower of Power. It's fun when your car sounds like a tractor.

Dan I know no one's thought of this before, but what do you suppose life would have been like back then if our parents and such had Facebook and Twitter and the like.

Well I'll git to gittin' . Hope everyone has a good week and I'll be back this weekend.

Dan- the police would only go in there and take the merchandise if I filed a report. The shops are required to hold merchandise here in NY for 21 days. I was able to find one of the items, the other three are still missing and probably were stolen back in April. Since I don't know where she pawned them, they probably will not be found. Too bad, one is a family heirloom.

Mornin all

Darrell that really sucks. Sorry to hear you have to go thru that mess.

Mike. Drive safe.

Allan, My buddy had a stent or 2 put in, and is now on statins. He got really depressed and hasn't done much to change his pad habits. Unfortunately, he has put on some serious weight and isn't really healthy.

Well spent the morning cleaning up what seemed to be gallons of dog puke (mostly bile) and cleaning and bleaching the floors . So I'm guessing the day will only get better.

Have a day all.

Garsh, has it been 5 days since I've been here? I didn't even miss myself....

Copy & paste day: uber-muggy, mid-70s to start the day, then creeping up to the 90* mark w/ about a 20% chance of a visit from Elsie at some point.

A belated Dads' Day to all you pappy's out there in Cyber-Olds land. Hope all your steaks were perfectly seared with beautiful crosshatched grill marks.

Lotsa' stuff to do at the Plantation on the days off, like gettng the F-150 unstuck from the front yard after I had parked it in the shade and it wound up raining two days in a row. I got to try out a "new" 12V hitch-mounted winch I had bought about 5 years ago, but never used; I'm happy to report that it works.

Got the one air leak fixed in the garage… one of the O-rings had slipped off when I was fitting a piece of the piping onto a nipple. Tight as a drun now, and all systems “Go”…. So great to get the lift back. That Quincy compressor hums like a sewing machine; so nice to hear its mellow tones, rather than the POS airless toy I had been using before.

Still clearin' stuff from the Metairie home. I don't seem to be getting too much help from da' two brothers. Everybody's scared to throw anything away, and stuff I DID want to keep seems to mysteriously disappear. Go figger.

But box after box of “stuff” continue to enter the Planation’s doors. Hopefully, though, 90% of each one finds a place either in the recycling bin or the round file. I sure don’t need more “stuff.” But of course, we’re trying to hold on to the “stuff” w/ sentimental value, or really, any value at all.

One big issue was Dad’s bottle collection (a.k.a. by my Mom as his “Dust Collection”). Included are a few nice booze decanters from the 50s and 60s.I went thru every piece over the weekend and tossed about 2/3 of them (mostly beer bottles). But the remaining ones -- now dustless for the first time in eons – would make somebody a real nice starter collection. It’s just a matter of finding that mythological “somebody.”

The garage sale is this weekend, so we’ll see how much of the little stuff and misc. furniture sells. I totally disagree with the way my brother and his better half are going about it conducting it; but it’s their doing, and I’ll give ‘em enough rope to hang themselves (and me). I can hear the excuses coming already (“It was an off weekend,” “It must be vacation season,” etc.) But maybe they’ll surprise me and it will be a resounding success.

Then, Aunt Carmy, who's now living with Brother Dave, has taken to biting the hand that feeds her... I know she's still grieving, and isn't herself; but hopefully she can try and make it a little more pleasant for those who are now responsible for her well-being.

Allan (note the proper spelling!): Thanks, bro'. Please cheer! This is such a weird job; I've been on the chopping block about 5 times in the last 4 years and have survived; so it's not a huge surprise. Figures that the one time it's for real, there was no "doom and gloom" predicted. Everyone expected this transition to be relatively smooth. But before I leave, my Gov’t boss may actually ask me to hang loose for a month or two and possibly come back for a new contractor. Nothing would surprise me at this point. Sad thing, the way health insurance is these days, I think I would do it if I could remain part time.

Darrell, Sorry about the betrayal and thievery, as well as the zany drug fest that your neighborhood seems to be hosting. Hopefully the police presence and the residents’ vigilance will snuff it out before the whole block goes up in smoke, lest Cheech & Chong start scoping the area (sorry, Darrell, couldn’t help myself -- I know it's no joke, especially having your kids to worry about). But that’s great news on the business… hope it flourishes big-time. If anybody can do it, I know you can….

Sorry to hear of your loss, Jamesbo. Sounds like the sort that they just don’t make anymore, with a real “pioneer” sense of self reliance. God rest her soul. Hope I don’t read of the SM’s or any of her sisters’ demise, especially of a gunshot wound. Hope they had fun, and made it back in time for the grave-side.

Mike, quite a nice looking ‘Stang! That looks a lot like the gray that’s been offered on F-150s for a while now. When I was sellin’ ‘em a few moons ago, it was called Dark Shadow Gray. Very nice color. But I’m biased: both our Camry and Fusion are gray. Sounds like a good move to get rid of the Fiat.
BTW, LA now allows the licensed DMV title agencies to renew driver’s licenses. There’s an $18 “convenience fee” if you do it at an authorized private company… but it may well be worth it. I don’t think they can assist if you need to take the practical (driving) test.

In conclusion of MY tome, I just ate the last piece of coffee cake ring we had brought home from Heavenly Bake Shop (Hiawassee) a couple-few months ago, so it’s ‘bout time to get our keisters back up to da’ hills. I’m countin’ down da’ salt-mine days: 4 including today!

Y’all have a fab humpity, Oldsmofriends.

Some pretty good thunderstorms came through last night, and my neighbors tree getting smaller after every storm, looks to be about ground level this morning.

Morning all!

Miserable humidity outside today. Air is so thick I can hardly breathe outside. Don't think I'll be walking at lunch today. temps in the high 70's now. Pretty muggy in here too....my water bottle is sitting here sweating. Fan is on 2 and so far Brian hasn't said anything. I'm waiting.

Nice to hear from you again John!

AllanR... Keegan told me about his window, lol. He has the passion for the cars so I'm sure he will eventually get his car in shape. I loved his car, lol. A real survivor.

I detailed under Teepos hood real good last night. Now I will start on the body. Gotta detail her top and all the rubber. I sure hope it doesn't rain on Saturday. I will be pissed!

We had storms come through last night. We didn't get any hail as a lot of places did. I'm glad of that. Winds were high. I staked up my little mater plant cause it was leaning over and I didn't want it to break off.

Quiet in here. Brian is typing away over there.... must have some drama going on! Hope he doesn't eat here today. I need my break from him.

Mike.... where are you going again? Chemo brain...... have a safe trip.

Well I better find something to do so I'll talk to you later on. Have a good day all.
