The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Mawnin everyone!
Well Freya is making today just beautiful compared to the last few. Sunny and blue sky that would make Willie Nelson proud. Maybe a bit windier than I'd like.
Clint - seems like not too many of the new gen know the value of some cars, huh? Admittedly the cosmetic parts look great, but a car like that is only original once. Take it for a test drive and see how much pavement it'll roast.
Scot - I knew there was a downside to all that heat...knats and such? November seems a long time off right now doesn't it?
Jim - jes take a BFH an go whack de co servers. Never met a puter it dint feel good to jes whack once in awhile. It's starting ta git better, but onee a bit.
John - look after those peepers (lol not peeps) ok? Nothing scarier IMO than stuff going wrong with the eyes. Well, unless it's finally understanding wimmen.
Sounds like de cutting crew is active at de condos behind us. So much fer nice quiet mawnin. Might have ta pull a Jamesbo an go out an watchem. Den have a rest!

Clint. I wonder if the Vette has a "Duntov" cam in it, it was an option back in the day. As for the kid with the Shelby, ruined a very desirable car, perhaps you can give his contact info out to a local Ferd club or Shelby registry to exact some form of punishment on him that involves the use of tire irons!
Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....Priceless! Vengeance is mine sayeth the Carroll!!
Clint sometimes people just don't get it. Did the father not impress upon the kid just what the car was? Well, the value of the other 403 just went up a little.
Well my motivation has gone out the window. The neighbors' son is next door, with his frickin' dog of course, so if I go out and mow the dog barks non-stop at me, and my dogs can't be out with me. If I go move cars on the driveway, the guy spies on me then calls the folks and tells them what I'm doing. I don't care if they know, but don't go tattle on me. I thought I was getting a 6 month reprieve from him but he's been over there almost every day since the neighbors left. I hate that I'm gonna have to spend hundreds of dollars on a fence because of someone who doesn't even live there. I shouldn't care what he thinks but he made a point last night of bringing up the cars I had on the neighbor's driveway and it's none of his damn business. It isn't his house.
Ah you know what I'll do, work on the blue van. It needs the oil changed and a few other things. Big trip coming up the end of June. Hope I can get my front end trim. It would be nice to have turn signals.

Mike - Just 3 words to remember for that jerk next time he opens his yap. 'Go pound sand'. Then turn and walk away. Sometimes growing a thicker skin is tough to do, but often necessary.
I suppose you could call the cops on him as retribution. He might get the idea....
Have fun with the oil change. Dump the used oil behind his shed tonight when he's asleep. Better yet, dump it under his car and watch his face in the morning when he sees he's developed 'quite the leak'....

See Allan that's the thing. The guy doesn't live there. Obviously if my Mother was out of town no one would tell me I couldn't go to her house, and I'm not saying he shouldn't be there. But he has to bring his frickin' dog every time, and he knows it agitates my dogs, and I've made it rather clear to the neighbors that his dog is a nuisance. Yet he brings it anyway, and in my book that makes him a *****.
So the guy has left now, and I go out to mow and it thunders. Bright sunshine and it thunders. My dogs flip out so we come in. I can't catch a break. We can do inside stuff for a little while until the dogs forget about the thunder. Right now they are both hiding under my desk. Silly dogs.

Happy Saturday everyone.
Such a bright, crisp morning. I love when the sunlight coming in through the windows is brighter than the lights overhead.
Jamesbo I'll probably be the last holdout for getting a smart phone. My flip phone is about 8 years old and that's just fine with me.
Might take in the junkyard after the Awful house this morning. I really need to mow this afternoon. I -really- need to get my Deere out of the basement.
Here's a question, can cruise control parts be successfully transferred from one vehicle to another? The cruise on the blue van doesn't work, but the cruise on the grey van worked great until it blew up. Blue van is a 90 and the grey van is an 84.
Well have a good day all. I'll check in later with my incredible finds from the junkyard.

Mike, I would think so, but it just depends if any changes were made between the years. I'll be cutting my grass this afternoon, but I gotta get my ears lowered, and head to Maynerds for a couple of things, then go see a buddy who had surgery on his shoulder last Tuesday.
NnSaturn day - and here Mike has Chevy questions! JK Mike. I don't think there's much difference between 84-90 Chev vans based just on the exteriors. What parts are you looking at swapping? If it's the modulator just compare the electrical connections to see that they match.
Beautiful day here again! Still early and quiet. That'll change soon as all the rug rats an teepee creepers wake up and decide to go on the warpath. Ha, I just got around to watching The Lone Ranger (Johnny Depp version) and I'm amazed I sat through the whole thing, sort of. I did pause it a few times an walked away a few times. Good ting I didn't pay good $$ to watch that schlock.
Well, it's been almost 5 days now that I decided to discontinue the BP meds on my own without consulting my doc. I feel so much better than when I was popping those stupid pills.
Guess I should cut the grass too. Seems to be a common theme lately....

Ah breaktime.
I did indeed go to the junkyard after the Awful house today. No van parts, but I did find the reading light/visor holder for the Cadillac I've been looking for. Here's a question that isn't about Chevy's. Did the 307 in the Cadillacs have an aluminum intake? The one in this car sure looked like it. I can't tell on mine, there's too much stuff covering it up. This one today the engine was half taken apart.
Nice and hot! Got most of the mowing done. As with times past, I ran out of extension cord for my electric mower before I finished, but today I rigged up the broken switch on my battery mower so I can turn it on and it stays on without holding the deadman. Actually the deadman broke which is why I couldn't use it before. By the time I finish up the sun should be in a position so I can wash cars out front.
So here's a weird thing. Half of an outlet in my living room doesn't work. Never heard of that. Also, my cable box evidently has fried itself, because it won't turn on no matter where it's plugged in. We had some rain yesterday afternoon but no lightning. Odd. Actually when this house was remodeled 14 years ago they used some rather cheep switches and electrical items. I've replaced about half a dozen light switches since I've lived here. This will be my first outlet.
Okay back to work. I just looked it's 89* here in the Greater Stockbridge Area.

Mike - that's probably the 'A4' aluminum intake. Olds also had it on their 307's too I think till around 84? Check the front of the manifold close to the t stat. Should have an A4 in there somewhere. From what I have read, it's not a great manifold and was problematic - probably enough that they only used it from 82-84. Here's an info blurb I ran into about it, can't vouch for accuracy though.
This intake is loaded with problems, first it has the most casting flaws of any Olds intake, second it has ridges on the base of the plenum. Casting flaws can be smoothend out easy with a dremel so I wont focus on that. Lets talk about the ridges. The ridges are on the floor of the plenum (just under the carb), this might be good for low throttle torque and throttle responce but it kills top end flow. The A4 has ridges because it was installed on very low performance engines (bone stock 307's) that wouldnt flow enough to keep the velocity high enough in the intake for good atomization, so the ridges were added to create turbulence, turbulence will stur up the intake charge and help fuel atomization. But turbulence will kill overall flow and peak HP, so if your looking for peak HP the ridges are not a good thing. On the A4 there is so little room between the plenums floor and roof of the runners. These ridges run right into the runners up untill they split (heading toward the heads). These ridges take up so much space (in that area between the plenum and the runners sharp turn and split) that I assume this is the area of restriction, then add turbulence and this is getting nasty. I have seen people port out the A4 and smoothen down the ridges, this is not a bad idea. So the intake is not useless, it just needs some work. A port match is a good idea as well.
Anyone know anything about electricity?
I thought my outlet had gone bad, but now I see that two outlets, next to each other on the same wall, only the bottom outlet works. The top outlets don't. All the other outlets around the house work fine. Breakers are on. I'm stumped.
Got the mowing done before the rain came. Now it's clearing but still thundering. The dogs aren't happy.

Mike outlets are easy. It depends on how the outlets are wired as to what is the problem. Chances are the topside has burnt out. One way to tell is to find the breaker, turn it off, take off the cover and check for continutity between the posts on the side and their respective outlets on the "female" inlets in the front. Another way is to get a 120v circuit checker and see if things are happy
Me all done too! Got the lawns mowed, dropped some extra fertilizer and grass seed and gave it a bit of water. Supposed to rain tonight so this was just a head start. Place is looking not too shabby.
Garage got cleaned (swept, power washed and vacuumed dry) so I can now move the Cutlass into the middle and get back at the work that needs to be started (or finished) depending on how you look at it. I'd like to see this car out and running this summer. Don't expect it will take anywhere as long as the last 2 years when it basically came apart. So now the missus's Saturn is out on the driveway and I'm parked on the street (mostly to **** off the HA's living next door).
Mike - looks like Scot has you covered there.
Jim - haven't had a flip phone for years now. The missus does though. I gave it to her for Christmas about 6 years ago. She hardly uses it (if you can believe that) so it looks pretty much like new. Still even has the plastic film over the display...
Enjoy your evening. Do stuff that makes others wonder what's up.

Mornin all.
Darrell, I already know my baseline, I was hoping to at least see a little improvement, Looks like my HDl is up some. The doc still isn't too worried since all my other vitals are good, and all of my changes haven't dropped the numbers in the past. He's pretty sure my body naturally keeps it at around 200. He's did have a concern with some instances of cyanide showing up in some Red yeast. I told him if there was it was Darrells fault.

One of the benefits of the product is actually an increase in HDL. Also, yes your doctor is right about some of the contaminents that can be in Red Yeast Rice. However, you can tell him that this is highly purified, molecularly distilled and made in a FDA facility so this is a high quality product, unlike the kind you can buy in big tubs at Costco. If he ever wants to see the data sheets on the purity of the product, I would be happy to fax or email them to him or yourself if you like.
Happy June everyone.
Holy Moly, I stayed in bed until 11 this morning. The dogs wanted to get up before 6 this morning and I said no way. Finally I got up and fixed their breakfast, which they wanted nothing to do with, and it was rainy and gloomy and I couldn't get past all that. Didn't help that I took a nap around 8 last night and then couldn't get to sleep later.
Not sure what to do today. One thing is get to Walmart before the church crowd gets out of Awful house.
Jamesbo that reminds me of a cartoon I saw once. A guy was applying for a job as a preacher and he asks, can I have Sundays off?
Thanks Scot. Odd situation. Everything worked fine, I turned the computer off and left for a little while, then when I got home it wouldn't turn on or the TV. After some monkeying around I got them both to work but found out it was their respective outlets. Strange half of two outlets goes bad at the same time.
Lots going on this month. In a couple weeks I'm headed to New Jersey to finally get my hood. Then after I get back I'll mark one more trip around the sun. Then my sister and her husband are coming to visit.
Well I'm gonna head to Walmart and get that out of the way. After that it's anybody's guess. Hope today starts a good month for everyone.

Sunday afternoon already???
Cut/paste beautiful up here.
Went to the market early this morning and bought some fresh sausage (brown sugar flavor). Also bought de missus a really nice bouquet of flowers (and some chocolate) just cause. When she got up I had a nice breakfast ready and waiting. She didn't like the sausage but did like the eggs, toast and chocolate. Took her a second to spot the flowers cause they were right in the middle of the table. Must have morning vision and smell - o - rama instincts....
Just made a strawberry smoothie and enjoyed it out on the deck. Dang! It disappeared to fast. Guess I better go plan what to put on the grill tonight. Rain is forecast so I gotta get it done before 6 I think.

Little Johnnie desperately wanted a bright red wagon for Christmas.
His friends were writing letters to Santa Claus, but Johnnie decided to go one better.
"Dear Jesus," he wrote. "If I get a red wagon for Christmas, I won't fight with my brother Hank for a year." Then Johnnie thought, Oh, no, Hank is such a brat, I could never, ever keep that promise. So Johnnie threw away the letter and started again.
"Dear Jesus, if I get a red wagon for Christmas, I will eat all my vegetables for a year." Then Johnnie thought, Oh, no, that means spinach, broccoli and asparagus. Yuck! I could never ever keep that promise.
Suddenly Johnnie had an idea. He went downstairs to the living room. From the mantel above the fireplace, he grabbed the family's statue of the Virgin Mary. Taking the statue to the kitchen he wrapped it in newspapers and stuffed it into a grocery bag. He took the bag upstairs to his room, opened the closet and placed the package in the farthest, darkest corner.
He then closed the closet door, took a new sheet of paper and wrote, "Dear Jesus, if you ever want to see your mother again..."

I saw that Dan, I'm pretty bummed. From what I read over the years she was the genuine article. Nice in every way, just like Alice.
Got a little bit done this afternoon. Did in fact get to Walmart, and while I was there I realized why my Mother didn't want to take me to the store. Got behind yet another preggo with welfare money. I didn't see the register but her change for paper was multiple twenties.
My neighbor, who is in New Jersey, asked me to move his car once in a while to give the illusion that someone is home. So today I went to move the car, a 200? Explorer, and rammed my head right into the top corner of the door. Knocked me senseless. Got a nice gash right above my left eye, which made the blood look like it was playing Plinko in my eyebrow. I probably would have gone to the doctor if it wasn't Sunday, but a couple Hot Wheels bandaids later and I think I'll be okay. I eventually got the car moved.
After that I moved my cars around, took the big truck for a little ride, and got everything arranged on the driveway with some room to spare. Even got some stuff done in the camper. Oh and two loads of laundry. Not bad along with injury. You know what they say, if you don't draw blood you're not working hard enough.
I think the dogs want some ice cream so that's gonna be our treat for the evening. I'll go get it in a little while. Can't decide between Sonic and Dairy Queen. Sonic is cheeper but DQ has a better sundae for me. I got issues with both of them so it's going to come down to the lesser of the two evils.
Okay have a good evening everyone and I hope your week starts out well.

Good evening everyone.
It was a beautiful warm and sunny weekend here. I took advantage to put in some time working on the Cutlass.
Sandy, is that the OCA show you'll be missing? Health comes first though.
Clint, that is a nice looking Mustang, but to do it to a real Shelby convertible?
Mike, here is a link to their website: http://www.vintagewings.ca/Home/tabi...A/Default.aspx
Not sure how the Mustang people would take it if I showed that to them
I know, but they sounded so good!
Have a great week everyone.

Paul, they'd probably say "everyone wants a picture with a 'stang in it!"
It's been raining here for about half hour - nice gentle soaker. More of same on Tues - Thurs apparently. Great stuff - it saves me a ton of $$ watering the grass.

Mornin all.
Darrell, No worries, He's just informative. Him and I have an awkward doc/patient relationship. but the wife likes him and he's thorough.
Didn't get much sleep. hopefully tonight is better.
Have a Monday all.

Mornin', all
Kwik moon day chek-in from da' Plantation. Cut & paste, muggy, 50% rain, and again tomorrow. 73* right now. Yard is waterlogged... all of SE LA has been pounded for almost a week now. Sure glad I got the grass cut last weekend, else it'd be a total mess out there and I'd have to wait at least one more week to avoid getting the mower stuck every 10 minutes.
Jamesbo, I'm still holding out with my little POS phone. The $30/month is also a big incentive, but da' better half has a little "smartie" with Straight Talk she only pays about $45 for w/ unlimited talk & text, and god-only-knows how much data.
Eye is much better thanks to the antibiotics & drops, although I still can't really see "up" with the right eye. But getting better every day... at least it doesn't hurt any more. Thanks, Alan!
Mike, sounds like you got yourself a real jackass over there; and I know you don't need it, 'cause you already have pets
. Unfortunately, they're everywhere. I know what you mean about not letting them bug you, but that's human nature. That's one big reason I wanted a place eventually where I couldn't see a single neighbor when I got my paper from my stoop in the mornings; it just happened a little sooner than we anticipated....
Plus the fact that they don't deliver the N.O. paper here anymore....
Scot, nice flyer! So you mean I couldn't run Coppertone?
Gosh darn!
Where's "2Ts" been? Hope his health didn't take a turn for the worse.
Sandy, you back to Twin Peaks yet?
Whelpt, the first wave of people moved to a new contract and contractor at the saltmine and there has been wailing and gnashing of teeth for a week now. Seems most folks were offered a 'take it or leave it' deal with average 30% salary reduction, and a reset of the vacation clock (1 yr., 5 yr., 10 yr., etc.). Only one person out of about 75 didn't take it, but I know they'll be dropping like flies over the next couple months. I'm betting 74 resumes went out.
My turn comes at end of June... I'm strongly considering declining if they pull that ap-cray with me -- which I'm sure they will. If it weren't for the health insurance, I'd have been gone long ago anyhoots. Or maybe if they let me work one of my days from the Plantation, that would sweeten the deal a bit and I'd consider even with a salary reduction. But I don't see that happenin'. Sounds like these guys are related to Mike's neighbor's son.
Y'all have a fab day, Oldsmofriends.
Gosh darn!Where's "2Ts" been?

Afternoon all!
Humid as heck here and cloudy. Ohio.... what can I say? I want to go back to AZ.
Back to work today. Sure didn't miss this hot box.. its as muggy inside as it is outside! The thermostats **** has it set at 73. I'd like to drop it to 72. Can't wait until he goes on vacation. It will be nice in here for 2 weeks! Long slow boring day today.
So Nicole and her boyfriend Jon went car shopping yesterday. She came home with a 2014 Hyundai Elentra. Don't know if I spelled either of those correctly lol. She traded in the Intrigue and only got $1400 for it. I could have sold it for a lot more. I would have loved to restored it. So another one of my dreams that won't happen. I guess Jon helped her with the down payment and such. Larry doesn't know that and I'm not mentioning it. She called the insurance company before she bought it and figures she can afford everything. I told her I cant help her. Its financed for 6 years....ni told her that this is her credit now, if she screws up. And there is not another car sitting around for her to drive. So hopefully it will all work out for her. I'm 55 and have never had a brand new car. She's so proud lol. I'm happy for her.
Jon came down Saturday. Larry had to yell at Nicole in front of him. I was embarrassed. She just looked at Jon and said welcome to my life.
Larry was cranky over losing his phone and coming home and having to go mow at the shop and mow at home and he was tired. Our tennant next door told him that our driveway was so full of cars one night that they were parking on the street. He came in yelling at Nicole 'didn't I tell you no party's in this house while we were gone?' She said she wasn't having a party, they all met here and then left to go to a birthday party at another friends house. I can believe that cause our drive isn't that long. Tincanio and the intrigue took up 2 spaces. Probably could have got 4 more cars in the drive. Jon has a car, Matt has a car, Tony has a car. Of course Larry doesn't want to hear that. Ray said there were cars on the street so that meant a party. I asked our other neigbbor and she said there was no party. No music no noise no beer bottles clanking. No yelling or talking loud. She said they all piled in 2 cars and left shortly after they got there lol. But I don't dare say anything or I'm just defending her. I wont mention what we used to come home to when Jr lived there..... talk about messes in the house! Nicole had it all nice and clean, laundry done. She doesn't party...
So needless to say he didn't go car shopping with her like he said would on Friday night. She was upset but used to it.
I think the Riverfront is canceled tonight. Storm chances around d. Pretty crappy looking week. The BOP is on Sunday and there's a 40% chance of rain.
Paul... yep. I'll miss the Olds show in Alliance if I have the surgery on Aug. 8th. I just want to get it done and over with.
So they found Larrys phone! The girl at the lost and found who he has been in contact with daily found it yesterday after Larry zoomed in on its exact location via satellite, and gave her the row number and street it was on and all that. She searched the car again and found it. Black phone in a black car..... so she was overnighting it to him. That eased his mind some. Pretty cool app to have. Find my Iphone. Came in handy! I have to call Samsung and get my phone sent in to be fixed. This speaker crackling makes me crazy! Plus it just eats the battery cause the alert light is constantly lit up now.
Well I better pretend to do something for a few minutes. Have a good evening all.
