Hey everyone.

Sunny and 40 right now. I had thought about a burn pile today to make up for the shortened one the other day, but it's a little breezy.

Sandy I laughed when you said it was going to 12. It just struck me funny. It reminds me of the counting song on Sesame Street. Perhaps if the guys are worried about someone else taking their commissions they should work a little harder themselves.

I had a couple Bugs when I was younger. I'd love to have another one but they seem to be a bit pricey around me. Make mine a 70 Standard Beetle or a 63 Sunroof painted up like Herbie. Actually they were all Standard Beetles in 70. When I lived up home a buddy of mine and I would drive downtown Chicago to Warshawski's and buy parts for the VW. My Dad for years bought stuff from the JCWhitney catalog. JCWhitney for those of you who may not know is just mail-order Warshawski's. Cool place, I don't think it's there anymore.

John I learned how to drive a straight shift at the expense of Shaver Chevrolet's service customers. I laugh now at the rare times I have a car in for service, and the young guys bring my car out bucking and kicking because they can't get the clutch right. Does Aunt Connie respond to someone talking to her? Maybe she just doesn't have anything to say. I hope she's not uncomfortable.

Well I guess I'll try to get something done so the day isn't a total waste. Hope everyone is doing well.

I found "The big MAW-Truck" yesterday, hope it doesn't come any closer to my garage, seems a little too big:

and spotted something that could become my next victim:

Mornin all.

Nop Nice looking Bus. That trailer looks like once it shows up it'll never leave.

Sandy. Hope they figure out how to get sales up. I'm pretty sure the economy isn't helping much.

Mike, I've never had a bug, came close a time or two. Maybe someday. I'd rather have a nice little notchback instead.

Have a Friday all.

Morning all!

A balmy 2 above this morning. It was -2 at home when I left. Don't think we'll make it to double digits today. I dug out my good wool long dress coat so I'll stay warmer when I walk at lunch.

My first hubby had a Vdub bus. No friggin heat in it , I thought we'd freeze several times lol. I liked driving it. It shifted so easy.

Took the bandages off the incisions last night. Feels better without them. Still painful inside but better. The stitches are catching on my clothes now, lol. I never had stitches before on the outside.

I was reading on a forum from women who had the same Cytoxen and Taxotere drug combo that I'm going to have, and all I can say is Oh My God. Guess the bone pain that hits 3 days after infusion is debilitating. That's from the shot they give you so your body makes white blood cells. Fingernails and toenails turning black and falling off. Metal mouth and mouth sores. Charles horses and muscle spasms. Nothing like the drugs I had 23 years ago. I know all of it may not happen to me but a lot of it will.
I'd rather hear it from people who have been through it and have no reason to lie, then to have some nurse lie and say its not going to be that bad!! I hate liars...

I may not be on here much once the chemo starts cause I wont have much nice to say and don't want to depress you all. Sure would be nice if it was good weather so I could get outside and do things to take my mind off this. As it is, im stuck inside with nothing to do but think and read horror stories lol.

Quiet in here today... the sales aren't happening lol! Nicole took a ton of stuff with her this morning so she can head to Columbus right from work. I hope she'll be ok this weekend, winter storm watch goes in effect this afternoon. Cold and snow. Chemo day is supposed to be a whopping 0 degrees! Isn't that lovely? Im really sick of being friggin cold.

Well you all have a great Friday and stay warm!

Happy Friday everyone.

Got to the Awful house and the bank and the post office this morning. If it warms up at all I'm going to adjust all the car covers now that the wind has died down.

Sure Jamesbo that would fit right in. What's that green one behind it? Looks sort of like an IH Travelall.

My 2liter Bus was actually pretty quick. Someone took the FI off and put that stupid Pinto carb on it, and I was forever dealing with carb icing. After that Bus developed some brake problems I had it parked in the back yard at my rental house, and a tree fell on it. Smashed it flat. I wish I would have been smart enough to keep it and part it out, the trans was worth a few bucks, the center seat, and it still ran fine. Instead I sold it for a couple hundred to a guy who probably made a ton of money off me.

Sandy I don't think the nurses call it lying. They call it trying to comfort you. Hm some comfort when you find out what really happens. By the way check your mail.

Well gee Scot you gonna tell us what the interview was for? Like Tom Petty says, the waiting is the hardest part.

Okay gonna get all my ducks in a row. Hope everyone has a good day and weekend and stays warm.

They have competition with Thomas and another company as well. But it's like every so often the demand diminishes and they lay off. As a matter of fact they have almost folded a few times but someone bought them out and carried on.

It's a pretty good sized plant with another South Plant five miles away that is where I would be if I landed the job.

Afternoon, all...

.... and Happy Friday.
"Only" got down to 31 at da' Plantation last night, and it ain't much more than that now. We certainly won't hit anywhere near 40, and there's lots of bits of ice all over everything. It's been sleeting, raining, and snowing (albeit very lightly) since the early a.m. Isn't spose to let up.

Lit our first fire of the season this morning, since we're not planning on going anywhere today. So far, so good; once that flue warmed up, it sucked like a hoover.

Sorry for the grim prognosis, Sandy. I'm w/ Jamesbo on a couple issues, tho' --> Better keep us in the loop, even if it's to grumble at us for a few days. Second point: after meeting you, my overwhelming thought (that I was hesitant to verbalize) is how great you'd be in a sales role! But obviously that's yer decision; my only other comment is that you might decide to do only what you can do in that role, and not be pressured by the jackasses into unrealistic goals, etc. I can sympathize w/ your decision if it's final, however. But perhaps doubling your salary might make it worthwhile, if that was feasible. Shoot for the moon! But you express yourself great, have a real "people" personality, and are occasionally bored to tears around the office as it is now. I'm sure that part would change.

Mike, Aunt Connie is not comatose per se; she can hear, I can tell, but doesn't always respond. I think she had a TIA about 2 weeks ago. There was a marked decline in just one day back then, and she's never been the same. I got her to eat and drink some stuff last night, but regretted it after she began coughing. As an ex-SLP, I really knew better; her swallow is "shot." But I thought I could bring her a little comfort with some mashed beans, smoothie, water, and Ensure. Poor girl went into a coughing fit for longer than I care to admit. I got the nurse to give her a breathing treatment, and it seemed to help after a while. No fun at all to see her like this; we're just praying for God's mercy to prevail. But we know that will happen in His time, and not ours. It's kind of funny, 'cause hospice seems to want to cushion the "blow" for us, and wants to treat us with kid gloves when they're describing her condition. We see her practically every day, so it's not like we're delusional. We know better than they do what an atrocious state she's in. You don't feed people lorazepam and morphine if they're doin' fine.

Good luck and fortune with the interview, Scot. I think our high school bus was a Bluebird! They been around for a while. (Brand new in '72.)

Whelpt (and as Scot said), y'all keep warm, Oldsmofriends.

p.s.: I see everybody stopped what he was doing and immediately put his real name in his signature (NOT). I feel like Rodney Dangerfield.

John, The head of the Ga Hospice asso was up here a few years ago and suprised me when she said, "Familes just won't face reality of their loved on not leaving here." Perhaps they are trying to lighten the loss. I dunno just a thught.

I'm sure that's prevalent, Jamesbo, and is probably the general rule.

Good morning everyone from the worm.

Congratulations Adrian! Looks like everyone is healthy and happy.

Gonna get up to a whopping 48 today. If I don't get anything done then there's something wrong with me.

Scot sounds like a good place to be. I especially like the big FC busses. Hope they give you a call back.

John you gonna be at the plantation the first week of February? The Good Lord willing and the Creek don't rise I'll be down that way.

Okay time for the Awful house, mail some bills, Walmart. Have a good Saturday everyone.

Evening all, looks like the weather is cooling down around here.

Who am I kidding, I don't give a rats about the weather, my lovely little family just added one, I am more then pleased to introduce Allegra Reid Madden to my family!!!!!!!! see added pics

I have always wanted a school bus that you guys have over there but a short bus so it is easier to transform into the coolest bus around hehehe. Hope all goes well Scot and you land the job.

John, we are hoping that all goes well with auntie connie and that she is in very little if no pain at all.

We are still sending good thoughts your way Sandy. Hope all is going well and you can get into some sort of routine before long and finish even sooner

The pic of me holding Allegra is of her less then a hour old. Tink and Min love my beard so I will be growing it until I either get the absolute $hit$ with it or they do, so it looks like I will have a full beard for a while

It has been a fair while since I have been on this forum but I can say for sure that it had been the best thing outside of my immediate family I have joined ever!!!! I have had the pleasure of constant communication between alot of good friends and even better I was able to meet a couple of you and I am sure I will meet the rest of you before my time has come.

The next time we are in the States we will be doing the west coast but I am sure we will be able to organize a meet somewhere so we can have another CO official get together

Time for me to go to bed, Have a great day ya'll

Adrian

Evening All!

Snow and cold here. Blowing and drifting with like 15 below wind chill. It's not pleasant outside. We got up to around 30 earlier today. Snow has been coming down real hard all day. We probably have at least 9 inches, and the drifts are high. It's been blowing and all the screens are matted with snow.

I went out to fill the bird feeders this morning and the snow was piled against the breezeway doors about halfway up. I had to shovel it away to get out. Huge drifts! I shoveled around the bird feeders and got them filled. Larry plowed the drive but it was filled again within 2 hours. It's bad out here.

I was going to go over to a cancer center and look at wigs today, but I didn't want to be on the roads, so I guess that will wait. But not too long....

I called Dr. Rehmus office yesterday and wanted to talk to the nurse/teacher that does the chemo class because I have tons of questions, so the girl transferred me and I got voicemail. I left my name and number but she never called me back. I told Larry that if I don't hear from her on Monday that I am going to cancel the chemo appt. until after I get to talk to someone. I'm not going into this without some answers. One of the waitresses Jean works with is still having awful bone pain, and her chemo was over a few months ago.....

My incisions are feeling better today. When I bend down, like to put on socks or tie my shoes, the neck one hurts. It feels really tight. I sure hope the chest one heals good and doesn't leave a big scar, cause it's really bumpy and raised right now.... Guess I'm getting a glimpse of how I'm going to look when I have my surgery, lol. Frankenwoman! My chest is about 3 different shades of green and yellow bruising.

John... thanks for the kind words. I like people and have always had a good rapport with customers and vendors. But I just don't want to be in sales. I know I'd be busy, lol!

Scot... I sure hope you get the job! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Jamesbo... I'd never drop off here for good. I'll be complaining, I'm sure.

Adrian.... congrats again! She sure is a pretty baby.

Mike.... I'm with ya on the comfort thing, lol. They need to be honest with people. We're scared enough as it is, and to not know what to expect is scary too.

Well I'm gonna get off here and do some more researching. Have a great night all and stay safe and warm!!

Good evening everyone.

Congratulations Adrian! And if I could find a school bus for you, could I trade it for a Holden Ute? I guess we all want what we can't have.

It's still cold here, but add snow and wind to the mix. I'm starting to wish I had looked into a trip south this winter.

Sandy, good to hear that you are starting to feel better.

Scot, good luck. I hope it works out.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

Morning All!

Still snowing here, 13 degrees. Gray. What more can I say??

Don't have anything planned for today. Not going out anywhere if I don't have to.

Made up my mind that I'm going to postpone the chemo. I'm calling tomorrow and telling them. I have to get to the dentist and get some work done, which has to be done before chemo, and I haven't had time to do squat. I'm not sure that I will have the chemo since all it's going to give me is a 3% chance in 10 years of it not coming back. Don't think that's worth all the pain and misery. I don't know. I want to talk to someone over there.....

Well you all have a good day once you get up, lol!

Howdy everyone.

What a nice day out. 60 and sunny. Then that's it, it's either going to be cold or rainy or both.

Sandy I thought the mastectomy was what would guarantee it wouldn't come back? As for the 3%, what happens after 10 years?

Dan, yes, I was sleeping in! Tonight is my first one back to work, so I sleep as late as I can so I'm not a zombie at work. I actually planned on getting up at noon, but in a rare occurrence, my boy got up on the bed with me and we cuddled for over an hour. He doesn't usually like to do that. I wasn't going to turn it down.

My neighbor called me a little while ago to ask me a HOA question. Now, I haven't been on the board for several years, but whenever they can't figure something out they call me. I was pretty good at running things and I was the only one I knew that didn't have some hidden agenda. I don't know what it is about a Board of anything that makes people think they are suddenly someone. Actually I'm glad my neighbor still thinks enough of me to call.

Question for you's. What's a good product/material to use in the blue van for sound insulation. This will go behind the interior panels. I'm not so much worried about temperature, but even with the carpet and panels in it still sounds like a big metal box. I know Dynamat is expensive, could I get away with Styrofoam? Is there a similar product to Dynamat that isn't so expensive?

Guess I'll start the ritual of getting ready for work. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. Haven't heard from Darrell in a few days, hope he isn't stuck in a snow drift.

Mornin all.

Paul, hope bowling is going well for you.

Allan, You notice the oddest things

Mike, I'm no help in the sound insulation area. Unless it was a conversion van, They all seem to be really loud.

Sandy, Hope you start to see a warm up. Sounds nasty. The wifes phone said we were gonna get the majority of a 6-10" snowfall last night and the balance today. Right now there is a skiff on the driveway. It was nice yesterday until later when the wind picked up and turned real ugly as the front blew in.

Congrats Adrian, I hope Mother and baby are doing well.

Went to my long time buddies fathers memorial yesterday. Then had a long chat with my other buddy fron Chicago. He's the one who is an A&P and got layed off after the owner of the plane got hit by a car and was killed. He got a job with another private owner finally and now works out of the Kenosha, WI airport. His dad had a stroke earlier this month. I guess I should count my blessings. This coming to grips with mortality really sucks.

Have a day all. stay warm.

Going to be a mild 60* today, but supposed to get some 2+ inches of the dreaded white stuff tomorrow with the high in the 30's. Jamesbo are y'all supposed to get any?

Allan, I believe that is a special needs bus. They have those doors on both sides.

Thanks all for the encouragement I hope I get it too.

Adrian congrats again brother. Another "loo" would be awesome, but I survived with 4 daughters and a wife with one bathroom. And have now dwindled down to 2 daughters at home and the wife. LOL

I hope everyone stay warm with all of these polar systems we are having

Morning All!

The sun was out earlier and I actually saw blue overhead! What a pretty color! Clouding up now though. Windy and below 0 wind chills. It's 11 right now, going to drop all day. Roads were horrible this morning. SUV's in the ditches. They had the 5 staggard plows going down 91 to try to clear the frozen slushy crap. Ice under the snow you could see shining through. Salt isn't doing much good on the roads.... The wind is making little snowballs out in the yards.... it's weird, lol.

Called Dr. Rehmus' office this morning and told them I did not hear from that teacher lady on Friday. The girl took my phone number and said she would hand it to her. I said I'll call back at 4 and cancel tomorrow if I don't hear from her.... Dammit they WILL answer my questions!!!! I'm the one who's going to be suffering in 3 days. Not them. They'll be going Cha Ching$$$$$!

I have to go over to my dentist at noon. I have a place on the back of my front tooth that feels very rough and is poking my tongue. She musta scraped too hard cleaning them the other night. I'm so tired of running everywhere....

Mike.... recurrence chances are not just in the breasts. Since there were microscopic pieces in the one lymph node, and since cancer cells travel through the lymph system, among other places, one of those cells could attach itself to my bones or kidneys or brain or where ever. That's why I have to go through chemo. IF it's in my system, chemo is supposed to kill it. This is just 'preventive'. Yeah, for 5 years or so.....

I'll get to compare my neuropathy symptems with Brian while I go through this, lol. God I hope I don't get neuropathy in my fingers and feet like he has. He's been on so many drugs for his in the last 5 years and he still has numbness and tingling and burning. This **** is worse than the disease!!!!

I hope Nicole is careful coming home. She said it's nice and sunny in Columbus and they didn't hardly have the snow that we have here. I hope she doesn't run into one of the sudden whiteouts or anything.

Well you all stay safe and have a good Monday!!

Hi, boys and girl...

Temperate morning in da' swamp, but not fer long.... . Pretty much ditto all the Gawga stuff for the plantation. This NOAA / NWS bulletin they sent out at work today says 30% chance for >=4" of the white stuff at the plantation for tomorrow evening! 80% for >=1" -- so we're pretty much gonna' get some; jes a question of how much. Sure glad I got the ol' standby generator standin' by .... I'd give the percentage of possibility of losing our power at 95%... when we had the big snow in Dec. '08, we were without it for over 4 days. We burned every piece of wood in the fireplace we could lay our hands on. I think we were burning treated wood at the end. . That was before we had the generator.

Anyhoots, I can relate to dem Hotlanta newscasts, Jamesbo; 'tis the same down here.

Mike (and all concerned members), I hate to be the bearer of more bad news, but my "middle" Aunt (Aunt Jean), who turns 91 next month, fell and fractured her ilium (pelvis) last nite; now SHE's in the hospital. I guess I know where all this is going to end eventually, but it sure is a bumpy road there... One of the saddest things is how predictable this was; she fell in the exact same place about 3 weeks ago and busted her face, but came through with no bones broken. She wasn't as "fortunate" this go-round. We told her not to do the things she was doing, but she has a head like granite. She'll say "I know" and agree, then carry on as usual. What can I say? I have to see what's going on with her, but from what I hear, they don't operate on these fractures; it's not technically a "hip" fracture. I know the pain was excruciating; they had to drug her up as soon as she got to the hospital.

Anyhoots, I guess things have to get worse before they get better.

Y'all take care and keep warm, Oldsmopals.

p.s.: wonder if they're going to offer a "snow plow" option for the new Z-28 ???

Howdy all.

Great day today, slept through most of it. Gonna be colder than a well digger's heal tonight.

Oh John God Bless Aunt Jean. I had to laugh at the comment that she agrees with you and does what she wants anyway. That's probably what helped get her to 91. I hope her stay in the hospital isn't a long one. You're sure a good egg for being so attentive.

So Sandy did you ever hear back from the doctor? Did you cancel the chemo?

Scot you can keep that snow down there, though I see our forecast is for light snow the next day or two. I haven't been to the store so I don't know if there's been a frenzy. I do need bread, perhaps I should go buy a dozen loaves. When do you hear about Bluebird?

All this talk about snow, and the subsequent Camaro, reminded me of this.

Clint that's too bad about your friend's dad. I hope your other friend's dad recovers soon. Hope you missed out on the bulk of the storm.

Paul, speak up! Nothing to say. Come on now.

Okay out with the dogs and then on to Night #2. Hope everyone had a good start to the week.
