Evening everyone. Cleared out here today and got up into the 70's. Starting to feel like summer's coming.

Yard work is where I've been spending my time lately. Finally got all my mulch down, talk about a big job. Also trying to undo all the damage from superstorm Sandy. I had a 16' Spruce lay over from all the snow and did not break. Never came up so I bought a come-a-long and tied it to the tree and a big oak. I slowly brought it up over a month and now its back to normal. Didn't think I could save it.

On the car front, I made my reservations today for GM Carlisle. Looking forward to that next month. Anyone going?

Hope everyone enjoyed hump day.

Morning All!

Another beautiful hot day here today. Sun and in the 70's now, heading towards 90 later on. Chance of showers later though.

Didn't get home until almost 9:30 last night - went to the hair place right from work, and they were just packed! So I had to sit and wait for Katy to get free. Nicole was late getting there too... imagine that, lol. Feels like I just left work.

Jamesbo... my little green pepper seedlings are still in the seed starter thingys, but I think they are big enough to put in the ground now, so that's on my agenda. My green beans are getting new leaves or something on them.

Bellacino's tonight! I missed Chick Fil A last night. They're close to the hair place, so I saw the cars going by. I hope I can find cheap gas tonight - Teepo is in need, and I don't wanna spend my whole paycheck filling her up.....

Clay is back today - that's nice! Brian is back here all quiet and concentrating. I turned on my fan when I walked in.... 76 degrees is just hot. Steve sounds all congested like he has a cold or something. He coughed a lot yesterday.

Paul... good to hear about the job.

Mike.... great to hear they did a nice job on your roof! We're going to need a new roof in another year or so. That's a job...

Darrell.... It's good you could save the tree!

Well you all have a great day.

Hola, Olds hombres y muchacha

Wet one here in the swamp; big-time flooding yesterday evening in Jefferson Parish (where my aunts live); but they were spared. Thank goodness, their house is pretty much always high & dry.
But they had almost 6" of rain in about 3-4 hours; pumps just can't handle that kind of volume.

Paul, it was pretty nice yesterday; I could get used to it . Come on, October.

Scot, meant to axe you, what kind of rear end ratio and tranny do you have to run 160? Man, dat's fast ... especially for an older GM intermediate . I'd think you'd need 2.56's or so else you'd be turning >7,000 rpm.

Mike, that also sounds like the Gulfstream Blue that came on GSs. It had a tinge of green in it. There was a Stratomist Blue that was my real favorite... makes quite a presentation with the white top and interior... although I personally prefer black inside. What are your thoughts on the car at the moment?

Got a bit o' good news yesterday: my wife's place of employment OK'd her proposal to work part-time from home beginning next month; so she'll be able to work 10-12 hrs/week and maintain a little cash comin' in. Her last day full-time is 6/7. Another step toward the retirement! At least she can do it a while and they both can see how it works out.

Mike, I've always heard you weren't spose to give dogs 100% beef ... or even table scraps, for that matter.... but methinks those boys you got are more human than canine, so you're prolly OK....

Y'all have a great resto'Thurs, Oldsmopeeps.

John I run a 3.73:1 rear gear with a 31.5" tall tire and was at 6500 RPM on I-75 clocked by Houston County's finest Actually it was my Dad's friend on the force and it was agreed to go down three bridges, turn around and see what that baby could do flatout. But it was also 2 am when the interstate was desolate and if the GSP came along the deputy said we were S.O.L.

Too bad you aren't closer, or I'd make short work outa dat starter.

No doubt on the big IF and da GSP No thanks to the Reidsville resort Dey didn't close the intrastate it was just no one much on it at the time. They closed portions of it during the filming of Need For Speed last month.

It's must be sum kinda southern tradition and part of our heritage.

Monday

Good evening everyone. First night back for me.

Such a nice and sunny day. Slept until 130 this afternoon. Ran a couple errands, basically didn't get squat done.

John we'd call that OWP. Off Without Pay. I hear you about the bad attitude. Sometimes those pesky eye troubles are hard to fend off. Can't see going in.

Dan it's been so long since I've done anything Oldsmobile I've forgotten a lot. I hope it comes back to me. Olds engines are wide anyway, so without another 350 next to it I thought it looked big enough to be a 455. One thing it did have was a rubber hose for the water pump bypass, where the 455 usually has a metal pipe.

I would have jumped in that car and driven home yesterday, but the credit union threw a monkey wrench into the works. I'll work on them next week.

I always figured some good meat was good for the dogs once in a while. Most of what I eat they get a taste, I don't give them a lot of anything. Hm, we haven't had ice cream in awhile.

Jamesbo since you're the literary professor of the group, why do the locals not pronounce the L in DeKalb? I looked it up and found that DeKalb County is named after some German soldier, but didn't say anything about why you don't say the L. We up in the hoity toity north have a town DeKalb, IL and also DeKalb County. Also DeKalb Corn Products. All with the L.

Well I can't put it off any longer. Work awaits. One more till the weekend for you normal folks. Hope everyone is well.

Mornin all.

Well, the missus had to drive the semi for big bales yesterday. Shes off doing it again. That means lets get up at 2:45 a.m.
Here's what it looked like up there yesterday morning. Good thing it wasn't June yet.

She didn't have to chain up, which is a good thing, not sure how that cast would have worked doing that.

Mike sorry to hear about the cranky banker. Maybe he just needs a weekend to unwind a little. D'you have a preview of this car?

Scot, I never went that fast, the fastest I went was probably 145 in my Mustang. Man things are moving at that speed. The car had plenty more, but I wasn't sure I could get it slowed down in time if needed. It still had the stock brakes (including the 7" rear drums.) I was running a 28" tire with 2.73's in it and a T5 overdrive tranny.

Sandy, have a good day off, and tell Nicole Congrats. Her Oldsmobile family are proud of her.

Well, may take Brittney to work today. May even install the charcoal canister I have sitting around for it. Gonna meet a buddy from elementary school after work for a beer. Looks like a bunch of peeps from my past may be showing up. Haven't seen most of them for 20 years. Facebook does have its positive points.

Have a great Friday all.

Cloudy but nice. Think I'll plant sum mo maters [dat make 50 plants] and sum okrie

Scot, To be honest it isn't doing nutt'in. I heard what the super model said and what her brother said, but haven't really looked at it. If de had parked it in de garage with de cemet floor it woulda been a whole lot simplier but de parked it on a slanted pea gravel car port. I had anutter 442 starter problem a few years ago an jacked it up. Put a floor jack under it [for safety] but still wasn't crazy 'bout crawl'in under it wit de jack stand sitt'in at an angle.

When I get thru plant'in I may take a look at it. I hope it didn't jump timing.

Mike, I recon it's kinda like Ponce de leon. We jes got grits in our mouths. I will tell ya in my 45.+ years of driv'in 99% of de time when sum one does sum'em really stupid. they'll have a Dekab license plate Try and watch and see if it isn't true fer you also.

Morning All!

Hot and humid here again. Supposed to have those bad storms coming in late afternoon and evening. Hail and high winds possible.. That will put a damper on the graduation ceremony.

Not looking forward to tonight - Larry is gonna be in one of his 'holiday or celebration' moods and spoil it for everyone else. Always happens. Nicole said she doesn't want to go out to eat or anything, so I guess we won't. I got her a "Cake Boss" red velvet cake, which I'll pick up when I leave work at noon, and I guess we can take it to Linda's after the ceremony and eat it there. Jean is coming to Lin's, so I have to pick them up and tote them to Kent to the hall.

Larry was already spewing off last night about 'how much money he spent and sacrificed' for Nicole to do this, and she doesn't even have a job yet.. Lord. It hurts her feelings every time he says that crap cause he makes it sound like he begrudged paying the money. I look at it like at least it wasn't a $60,000 education that she might decide not to use!!! I'd really be mad if it was, lol. Like his kids are sooooooo perfect. She's not pregnant, She hasn't had to be bailed out of jail or had to file bankruptcy yet...... nuff said.

Anyhow, I'm gonna enjoy my day and not let it be spoiled. I am very proud of Nicole - She is graduating with honors!!!! Straight A's the whole way through the class. So she will get an honors diploma! She kept her head on her shoulders through out, even with all that Charlie drama and moving, etc.... I am proud.

It's boring and quiet and hot in here as usual. Glad I'm leaving early.

Clint! That is an ugly pic, lol. I'm soooo glad to be done with that.

You all have a great day!

Damp, warm one down here in da' swamp. Hit a brief shower near work, but they say only 30% for da' cow. I guess that's if you're not drivin' in it.

Mike, I guess each WP (workplace) has its own ways of sayin' things. LWOP is a BIG phrase down here... they like to say it loud & long --> "ELLL - WWOPPP !!!!" It has a certain dastardly ring to it.

Glad you survived that blast on the Interstate, Scot. It's tough breakin' up dem rocks once day gets pea-sized . And I hear the ink on da' licenses is toxic... it'll kill ya' after 60 seasons stampin' dem plates.

Jamesbo, the first thing I'd check (and I'm sure it'll be the first thing you do) would be the neutral safety switch. I've always had encounters on them with those early column-locking GM cars -- although I've replaced starters on about every one I've ever owned, too....

Too bad about all the crap with the OCA. It's interesting (but sad) reading all that stuff. Not quite "Come Away with Me, Lucille...." Funny, a couple weeks ago I was reading (maybe on Wiki?) someone actually proposed that the whole demise of the Olds brand could be linked to the slogan, "It's not your father's Oldsmobile." I was always a bit offended by that one. You figure if Cadillac could survive (and even thrive) through the last decade or so, surely a stodgy image wasn't what brought Ransom's E.'s namesake down.

Here's something I saw on Yahoo that was a bit touching (Darrell, pay attention ) :

http://news.yahoo.com/video/decades-...220416706.html

Y'all have a great Friday, Oldsmopeeps.

Evening All!!

Well the graduation went off without a hitch. Everything was good, including moods, lol, for which I was thankful. It was a short ceremony which was good, cause the church where it was held was not air conditioned and it was hotter than heck in there! Very muggy.

I got teary eyed, of course. Nicole brought her friend Matt. He's a real nice boy. Larry talked and talked to him. I was surprised. We went back to Lin's apartment and had the cake and ice cream. The cake was delicious!! We stayed a couple hours and left.

We're having storms right now. Had some hard rain come down before we left, and it just got more humid. It's very yucky out.

Did ya get the car fixed, Jamesbo?

Have a good evening all.

Nope, I wanted to ax the guilty party a few more questions 'bout wha happened before I start tear'in every thing apart.

I'm really a little gun shy 'bout de location and gett'in under it alone on a slope. It's also in de same spot where de coupe almost caught fire because the yahoo PO had de starter wire up againist the exhaust manifold.

Donny, told me he's got an extra starters so I may wait fer him to quit pok'in holes in de ground and ax him fer sum help. I'm gonna bring back de bigger floor jack from de lake dis weekend. That makes fer a little more comfort level.

But I did get more maters planted and mo pole bean and 2 long rows of Okrie.

And I did clean out de Frigidaire. Does any of dat count?

Enjoy your weekend Olds buds

Morning all. Beautiful out right now. 50* right now and spose to get to 70 today.

It was really windy yesterday, So I didn't go to work with the Olds. But ran out of things to fix about lunch time, so I came home and got her. The garage door wouldn't go up so I had to figure out which key on my ring worked the front door. Found a broken door spring. Got those coming for Monday.

Well, I helped the door opener lift the door and hurried Brittney out so she didn't get crushed. I got the Trans cooler installed, and installed a ball valve on the 1/2" vent hose on the gas tank. It was just plugged before. That seemed to help filling the tank. I was never able to fill it properly before I would have to just trickle it in and could almost get it 3/4's full.

I still want to install a charcoal canister on it to see if I can put less fumes in the garage. I sure the dogs would appreciate it.

I also worked on the A/C compressor. Last fall I heard a noise and noticed the clutch was always dragging. I thought the Pulley bearing moved or was going bad. But the interference fit of the clutch plate on the compressor shaft isn't any good. The plate actually moved into the pulley. So for now I staked the hole and reset the clutch gap. I have a front seal leak on the compressor I have to fix, so when I do that I'll fill weld and file the clutch so it has the proper interference.

Glad Larry minded his P's and Q's Sandy.

Mike There is a driver 69 vert here for sale. LMK if you want a link.

Jamesbo. No fair burning up another. You've already overfilled your limit of that.

Maybe I'll take the missus out to the supercruise today.

Happy Saturday everyone. First day of June. Amazing.

Beautiful here today, not quite 90 and not humid. The dogs were content to let me sleep most of the day. Number three for me tonight.

Oh the rumor mill has started churning. This ridiculous schedule we have evidently isn't working out as well as some had hoped, so the word is we're going back to 12s. Although it won't be the same as before, so who knows. The Line does three on and three off. I don't think I'd care for that.

Jamesbo if you want I can run up there and help you with the convertible one day this week. Give me a shout. I'm just sorry I'll miss the beer drinking and quizzical looks tomorrow.

Thanks Clint. I'm going to see how this 70 pans out in SC and if it doesn't work out I might have a look. I wouldn't mind a nice drive home from Colorado.

I feel bad for the people out west. They just can't catch a break. I've been thinking about one of those tornado rooms. It could double as the dog's room and then I'd get my one bedroom back.

Sandy I'm glad everything went well with the graduation. Nicole can be proud that she did so well. Straight A's will look good on a resume.

Well some chicken parmesan is calling me. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

I have the number if you have an interest. Has some rocker panel rot on the right, but sits well and was told it has a fresh drivetrain.

The missus and I went to Hops for dinner and a beer and there was a beautiful Galaxie 500 427 4 Spd car. Sorry bad lighting.
Attachment 170124
Had a car seat in the back.

Good Afternoon Everyone.

I've had a busy weekend so far. There was a car show in NY State I wanted to go to yesterday. The forecast for home was bad with rain and thunderstorms but oddly, where the show was an hour away they were calling for a nice sunny day. Me and a couple of friends decided to risk it and took our cars down to the show. We made it there dry and the show was great. Hot and sunny, but with a nice breeze. Unfortunately, the Delta was running hotter than normal, so I kept my eye on the temp gauge all day.

It was a small show, but nice setting, nice cars, good food and GREAT music by an army band. They played stuff from the 70's to now. The lead singer was amazing.

Unfortunately we did not make it home dry. Hit the rain just after crossing back into Canada (great welcome home ). It kept getting worse as we went. We ended up stopping under an overpass at one point and someone in the group mentioned seeing a warning for hail on their phone in our area Got going again and hit more bad rain, but made it home ok and replaced the thermostat on the Delta. Hopefully that was the problem.

Jamesbo, you know you can't ignore a text message!

Clint, any pics of the 1960 Impala in the background of the Galaxie picture?

Sandy, congratulations for Nicole's graduation.

Have a great week everyone.

A bud and I went to a car show 35 miles away yesterday, now we were reluctant because of the forecast of rain, apparently so were the show organizers, as there was no show. Their website was D.O.A. The good was the great weather, a stop at a small town diner and we spotted a Kaiser in the weeds along side a brick garage about 15 miles east of here, in a rural small town. I'll have to go back and get some pics.

Hey everyone.

Nice day today, but then clouded up and had a pretty good thunderstorm around 4. Now the sun is out again and it's cleared up.

Jamesbo I can see you riding around in that beast. I'll go with you to pick it up.

I've been looking at the cars that do stupider than usual things in traffic, and oddly enough, the majority of them say Clayton County. Like the guy that pulled out in front of me and I had to lock up the brakes to keep from hitting his purty new Mercedes, and then he went 10 under the limit all the way down Hwy 23 because there was no way for me to get around him. If the bumper on my van wasn't so straight and shiny I would have helped him along.

Paul it's just rain Here's your excuse to give the Delta a good washing and spend some quality time with it. I completely understand your concern about the hail.

Last night of work. Got plenty planned this week while I'm off, not to mention the gutters come tomorrow if the rain stays away. Work last night sucked so I hope it's better tonight. Eh, after tonight I have 110 hours that they can't do a thing to me.

Have a good evening and hope everyone's week starts out good.

Evening All!

Nice here today. Mostly cloudy but the sun broke through at times. The humidity is gone too, thank God. Temps were in the 70's. I turned off the AC and opened the windows!

Larry and I went to the shooting range this morning. We're doing pretty good, lol. Gotta keep practicing. No shows around this weekend.

We stopped at Home Depot on the way home and Larry bought some nice decorative fence for around the garden. Spent $150 on 10 pieces of it, but we need more.

I bought some metal hanging thingys that clamp on the deck and you can hang flower baskets on them. I'm gonna put hummer feeders on them, I think.

Got my little green peppers planted and the pumpkin seeds. Forgot to sprinkle snail stuff around though, so I hope they don't get in there and eat the plants. I spent about 3 hours out at the water garden pulling weeds and digging up crab grass, dandelions and friggin thistles. Looks alot better out there.

Jr. and Elyse came over this afternoon for a visit. Larry went and got chicken for supper. I schleped more yard and deck decorations down from upstairs in the garage. Came inside around 9:00 and took a shower and sat down. I'm tired.

Well I guess I better get stuff ready for work tomorrow. I have my yearly appt. with the heart doc tomorrow at 2:10, so I'll leave work around 1:45 then come back afterwards.

Have a good evening all.

Here are a couple pics from graduation.

With her proud mama, lol.

With her Aunt Linda on the left, and Aunt Jean on the right.

And one with Larry.

I went back and got some pics, but as it was 7:30pm on a Sunday, I decided against going up to the residence and knocking on the door, as I was pulling away, I saw another Kaiser on a car trailer, either they just acquired it, or they were getting ready to take it away.

A few more from the quick road trip, the Sinclair pole sign is a reproduction, but the one on the building is the real thing, though now a used car lot, the size and architecture of the building indicates that it was a gas station at one time in it's past.
