The car got here this morning. It was a little more stressful than I was thinking. The driver told his dispatcher he couldn't deliver to the house so he wanted to meet me at a truckstop in the city. The dispatcher called me and said that was the only way. I said I paid for door to door not door to truckstop. So the dispatcher says okay I'll just have him drop it at the closest tow yard. I told him if he did that I'd report it stolen. Long story short the guy pulled up in front of the airport and dropped it in the street, and I walked over and drove a half mile to my house.
That is really $hitty service, I'd be giving them a horrible review and asking for at least a partial refund! That's a real bummer the car isn't as nice as you thought it was. 😔
MIAMI-DADE APPROVED CERTAINTEED SELF ADHERED WINTERGUARD SAND X ICE and WATERSHIELD UNDERLAYMENT has been installed to the entire roof using 1" stainless steel roofing bottom caps. I spent ~1 hr helping the crew remove debris. They were delighted when they saw a trailer hitched to the back of my JD ZTR. They were here @ 8am this morning, left @ 6pm & they're returning @ 7:30 am tomorrow. I suspect 1st order of business will be to install new drip-edge, lay the starter strips & start laying shingles. They're doing a good job.

I have to agree on the Superbowl, a bit of a snoozer. As I haven't gotten completely rid of the covid, I went to bed just before the end of the third quarter, too tired. Two good things about it. First I bought four $25 squares in the pool at work. $500 payout per qtr., and $125 for reverse numbers. I gave two squares to my brother, who won $625! Lucky bastard! Number two. Anthony Bradford of the Seahawks, went to my highschool. In 2017 they won the State High School Championship in football. He then went to LSU, where in 2020, they won the National college football championship, and now he has a superbowl ring. Pretty cool.
Dan - You didn't miss anything, IMO. I thought the commercials were exceedingly bland, as well. I watched the entire game. Very cool about Bradford. Your next lunch/dinner together will be sponsored by your brother.

That all is cool Dan! Glad you had some backstory drama because you're right, it was a snoozer!
The most exciting moments of Superbowl LX was watching Maye getting clobbered. Guy has some serious work to do, IMO.
I agree Maye needs work, but not as much work as the left side of his Offensive Line. They were getting beat on almost every drop back. Maye will probably need treatment for PTSD!

Things are getting going quick this morning. That's a good thing. Although I don't have a wall guy so I'll just get the other's fill ins. I don't care.
Norm that's great that the roof is going so well. When I had my roof put on there were probably a dozen guys working, although they were working on three buildings at once. Came early, left around 3. Did a great job. I had drinks available to them but don't remember them having any. I had my boy and girl at the time and I knew they'd go bonkers with all the noise, so I took them to the kennel for the day.
Thanks Chris. Although it wasn't a stellar experience, I don't need to ask for any money back because they fulfilled their commitment, which was to deliver the car to me in the same shape as when they picked it up. It's disappointing they couldn't bring it to my house when they said they would, but it was close, and a couple of my neighbors helped me out and we made a good time out of it. I'm pleased that it was delivered on my day off and I didn't have to take time off work.
Been beautiful all week but the rain doth cometh. I hope it clears out for the weekend. I need to fire up my second new chipper.
Okay got wheels to sign. Hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning everyone.

Roofing crew (x4 Macaques) was here @ 7:30am. Installing drip-edge right now. Shingle pkgs. are on the roof, they're pulling alignment lines currently. I've been drudging my way around w/ clean-up duty. Gorgeous weather.

Norm - Glad the crew is moving along and happy for ya that you're weather is nicer. Weatherman is saying it's 73°F here right now and it sure feelss like it. Forecast for Holland, Michigan this coming Fri. - Mon., highs in the upper 30's thru mid 40's, with no precip on any of the days. I must be living right!
Good chance of rain for several hours tomorrow beginning ~9am or so supposed to pass w/in 2hrs - 3 hrs. Crew will arrive @ 7:30am regardless. Ran into one SNAFU so far. They screwed up replacing the gutter leaf guards & I called it on them - they sorta looked dumb founded then said something which appeared to resemble they'd fix it & make it right. I'm not convinced they will so I already have a call into the PM and he will be here in the morning (sometime), as well. He (the PM) was sorta/kinda providing a bit of a song & dance, as well. No biggie, because they aren't getting paid until it's done correctly. My wild card is to explain to him (them) I'll call the company who installed the gutters & leaf guards for an estimate & this is what it will cost you to install them correctly. Again, no biggie I know how to manage this $hit. I'm not sure the Macagues realize how much effort I'm putting in cleaning up the yard debris & they think everything is going to be done in a heartbeat. Well, the thing is these guys haven't been able to work for ~15 days (hourly day laborers) & they're chomping at the bit to get moving because other roofs have already been booked. This snow storm is setting them back. That's fine, but you're not leaving my place until it's done to my satisfaction. End of story morning glory.

My A$$ is dragging today.
Norm - Sounds familiar! Glad you're calling them on it and hope that they make it right. It's hard to find good help these days, especially if the PM is not on-site a majority of the time!
Our eye appointments went fine, although I was told I have the start of a cataract in each eye. Eye Doctor said they are very minor at this point, but said every case is different. He said in some people they get worse very, very slowly and never get to the point where the person needs surgery, but in others they get worse very quickly! Guess we'll see (no pun intended) which camp I'm in???
I have my re-visit with the Orthopedic Surgeon for my hips tomorrow. I don't think it's for any further re-evaluation at this time, other than me letting them know the chronic pain is worse than ever. Will get another Cortisone shot in each hip which will help for maybe a month at most. At least it will help on my drive to/from Michigan which I'm thankful for!
Roofing crew (four Macaques) arrived @ 7:30am. Project Manager + Program Manager + Site Lead arrived @ 7:15am to evaluate gutter leaf covers. Accepted full responsibility & will install new covers all the way around. They each evaluated the entire roof installation, thus far. I'm quite happy. It's lightly misting rain at the moment, a little heavier (maybe) for a couple hours it appears.
Chris - The joys of aging, eh? Good luck @ the Ortho.
Hello from other side of the pond , yes we are getting older . have the waterexercise every
friday and try to wisit the "swimming house" ? one more day in the week. Should check my eyes
also Chris , to have a check how they are. Cortisone shot in the knees maybe a good thing to think about.
Waiting for the Dynamic engine to be finished so i can take this home.
I,m in the woods now for cutting aspen trees to sell , they making panel for sauna of this . The
Huskvarna chainsaw works great . The trees are located in a steep hill so i must drag them up
with the wirevinch before i can load them with the Ford. But there are no stress , i must take it
a little easy and think about the knees a little. But there are a lot of walking in the snow.
Nice you get a new roof Norm , i guess you can have a lot worse storms than we have here.

Norm - Glad the roofing company if accepting responsibility for the leafguards and are going to make it right.
Yep, the joys of aging for sure! Got another shot in each hip around 9:30 CST and they already feel better. It should help me immensely sitting/driving during the 8-hour drive to/from Michigan.
Glenn - Yes, we have many hurricanes & strong storms here. Also, it is very hot during summer months. Nice work on the Aspen trees.
Chris - The cortisone shots will help immensely.
The wrecking crew (Macaques) is/are finished. They did a nice job cleaning up. Doubt any one of them appreciated the amount of labor I put into the clean-up - I busted my A$$. That's fine - it's my place, I'm picky. I gave them each $20 just before they began their clean-up routine.
The lead has to return tomorrow to finish chimney flashing pick-up unused materials & drag away the trailer. Overall a very good job as far as I can tell. I was on the roof this morning @ 7am to evaluate their work. New leaf guards will be installed in next several days or thereabouts.
Glenn, great to hear from you, looks like you're keeping busy. Love the pic of you handling the Aspen trees! Those look like big trees.
Hope they do a good job for you on the Dynamic engine. I'd bet Cortisone injections in your knees would give you some relief for some period of time. How long the relief lasts is dependent on alot of variables, but here I can get them every 3-months.

Norm - That all sounds great! 👍 Very nice of you to tip all the laborers!
Not nearly as warm today here but still nice with mid-50's and sunshine!
Dawn and I are doing an early Valentines Day date today since I will be in Michigan on the 14th. She was still sleeping when I left for my Orthopedic appointment this morning so I left her card on the kitchen counter, it had a gift card for her favorite place for buying women's apparel. When I got home she met me at the door with a hug, kiss, and a tear in her eye. That's all I needed to make it a great day!
I'm taking her out for a nice Steak Dinner this afternoon at Texas Roadhouse (her choice). Dessert, TBD???
I've been procrastinating packing for Michigan, I need to get my *** in gear.

Stay well buddy! 😃
Thanks both of you , yes should check up this cortisone thing. My wife had cortisone injections several times in her hip
before they replace it.
Have seen videos of hurricanes and storms in USA destroying peoples homes , very sad to se.
Nice that Dawn and you Chris having a dinner at Texas Roadhouse , my wife works at Valentines day
but i should get her some flowers when she came home after work
Been a busy morning. We stopped early for an extended lunch. Wings and whatever. I did not partake. They can't get plain wings and then have sauce on the side, they have to get wings with sauce on them and I don't like the sauce. Besides that I like peanut butter and jelly way more than wings. It was nice having a two hour lunch.
Chris why isn't Dawn going to Michigan? Are you going to stop in to see your sister? Wouldn't have been easier to fly? Although it's a little late for that now.
Norm glad the roof is almost done. I forget what kind of fancy roof you got but even if it was just the 25 year tabs you won't have to worry about it until you're 90. You'll have sold out and moved to the beach by then. Hm, didn't I tell Greg that a couple years ago?
Glenn the tractor looks like fun. Your engine for the car should be almost ready by now. Or is it in, I've lost track.
I had a cortisone shot in my hip before I had surgery. It lasted exactly one day. Don't get me wrong that was a great day. But I woke up and was about 50% back to normal and the next day totally back to normal. Normal being pain and the inability to walk without a limp.
It will be slow ramping up from lunch, that's okay I'm tired of sitting. Think I'll go for a walk. Have a good afternoon everyone.
Chris - I like your Valentines Day celebration. Good job. It should take you all of 10' to pack. LOL
Thanks Norm! We're not big on Valentines Day, but usually just use it as a good excuse to go out for a nice meal. However, with me being gone I wanted to do a little more for her for sure.
It's been so long since I've been on a trip (2019) I'm not sure I remember how to pack? I'll overthink it and take too much like I always do, but I'd rather have too much than too little, especially since space isn't an issue. I've gotten a large and smaller suitcase out, and I'll will see what I need. Just got done checking all the fluids in the car and the tire pressures and I'm good to go there. I plan on having everything packed by tonight except for last minute toiletries.
Dawn and I had a great meal at Texas Roadhouse. Everything was done to perfection and we devoured every last morsel!
Dawn had a Caesar Salad, steamed broccoli and carrots , their 20oz. Bone-In Ribeye, and about 3 of their bottomless dinner rolls with honey butter.
I had their House Salad with extra Bleu Cheese dressing, Baked Potato with butter and Sour Cream, their 24oz. Porterhouse, and 6 of the rolls with honey butter. Plus I had a 16oz. Busch draft.

Hi everyone.
Glenn the tractor looks like fun. Your engine for the car should be almost ready by now. Or is it in, I've lost track.
.
Hi Mike , yes the tractor has been useful for lifting other things than wood also , i lifted out the 425 engine with it and that worked fine.
I don't think the engine will be back in the car for several month yet , must wait for spring / summer.
But the engine is located in a warm space so i can
work on that when i get it back.
Things started out busy this morning then we ran out of work. There will be more coming. I'm already at 20 so I can use a break.
Chris I forgot when you're leaving for MI. Tomorrow? Hope you have a safe trip and a great time.
Who do we know in Memphis? There's a Valiant with my name on it that needs looking into. Memphis is about a 6 hour drive from me. Hm but only an hour by plane. Might have to think on this one.
Norm are the guys finished cleaning up? Anything left to do? Did they do the garage as well?
Okay a guy just brought in Chick Fila. Have a good day everyone.

Mike - I don't know anyone w/ vehicle knowledge in Memphis area. Good luck. Hope it pans out.
The guys finished cleaning up, yesterday - all gone. Picked up the trailer & removed various supplies, etc. The person who had to finalize the chimney flashing arrived ~15 minutes ago. It won't take him long to finish. The garage roofing is absolutely fine requiring no R&R.
My Maytag side-by-side refrigerator/freezer has developed a very slow leak onto the flooring. Sorta/Kinda developed very slowly over the past two months - nothing extraordinary, just an annoying minor leak. I believe it isn't making ice any longer, as well. Normally, I'd diagnose/troubleshoot myself, but I'd spend much longer determining if I did it correctly, ordered the right part, cleaned the correct water line, etc. I don't care to get involved w/ it & I have a good appliance repair man who knows what he's doing & can work this issue very rapidly. I'm happy to give him the job. I left a VM on his phone this morning.
