Good morning everyone.
Chris sorry to hear that Dawn is under the weather. You both need lots of zinc.
Thanks for the well wishes guys!
After being on the phone with insurance and Walmart for >2-hours, I finally got everything straightened out, went back to Walmart, and got Dawn's Paxlovid. Without insurance cash price $1,867, with insurance $0, wow! For my efforts I got a box of Apple Fritters fresh from the Walmart bakery, which are excellent. It wasn't a fair trade!
Picked up 240 lbs deer corn. Grocery store next for my food.
Despite living in a subdivision, if I put out corn in my yard I'd be overrun with deer. I stopped and counted 15 just last night in the grassy area at the front of our subdivision. They're everywhere!
Glad the Paxlovid issue is resolved. Matar Paneer + rice + flatbread + Tzatziki for lunch (at home) - likely my most favorite Asian Indian meal.
Thanks Norm! After all that I'm just hoping it lessens her symptoms and the duration of her illness. I'm not experiencing any symptoms or feeling out of sorts yet, I really hope I don't catch it!
I've never really cared for Indian cuisine, but maybe I've never had it from the right place? To each their own! 😃
Some of you guys are quite the cooks. Do any of you use a Blackstone? I received one for an early Christmas gift and I'm trying to get the hang of it. I see a lot of videos but nobody goes into any detail regarding cook temps or times, just throwing ingredients on the grill, flipping food around and voila! Do you guys have any favorite recipes?

GN1220 - Nice Christmas gift! I don't own a Blackstone, but a couple of my friends do. They use theirs primarily to fry large breakfasts or burgers/brats/hotdogs for family gatherings or parties. Rarely do we have any groups over large enough for me to get my money out of one, and if I'm grilling for just the wife and myself, or a handful of family I'd rather use my large Weber because of the smokey flavor it imparts to whatever you're grilling.

I have my Grandfather's Weber I restored with new wheels and wood handles several years ago and I really enjoy it. And I use my Trager too. But I am learning that the 2 burner Blackstone my fiance bought me is actually pretty useful for just the two of us. Turn on the heat, prep the food and enjoy an adult beverage while cooking. Cleanup isn't bad either. I've done Philly steak sandwiches a few times and they came out pretty good. I'm still working on the burgers, trying to get the temp and times right, but I think I need to do more of the smash burger type.
I've owned (I think) 5-6 Web kettles in my lifetime - currently owned two. Love cooking on them. Key is to treat them as a Dutch oven regulating heat (air flow) via bottom & top vents.
Casper just called me - why, I'm not 100%. I have the feeling he's lonely and beginning to feel his physical age. We've talked about everything. He isn't limping, but he's developing some struggle w/ walking. He sits on his fat *** fishing all day everyday. Said he misses Wisconsin...hmmm, he must be on meds.

Everytime you mention him I can't help but think how cool it must be to be friends with an NFL Hall of Famer! I can't begin to imagine the aches and pains those guys have in their later years after many years in the NFL???
I said to him I can still rotate through my hips and turn my torso through a full swing. I followed that up with I have a daily PT routine for occasional sciatica telling him I doubt he has any hips remaining after taking his beatings. I sent him this picture (below) captioned "Seems like just last week!" & he responds "Still trying to figure out how I did it".

Amazing! I know I already mentioned how much I idolized that era of Raiders teams! 👍
Pretty sure John (Madden) & Dave had a father-son friendship throughout both of their lives.
I loved John Madden as both a Coach and Announcer! I can picture him being a good friend to all his players. My most revered Coach however is Lombardi, I just loved his approach to the game and his reverence for discipline and toughness! My idol as a player was Walter Payton, who I tried to emulate (far removed) with my running style. He was the toughest running back for his size I ever saw! Have you ever been to the Hall of Fame in Canton? They have a lifesize statue of Walter there. For a Pro Running Back he was not a big man, but he was ferocious in the way he ran! The most amazing Running Back I ever saw, hands down it was Barry Sanders. There was never another Running Back that could do the things Barry did! God I love football!

Lombardi is sheer greatness. Walter was taken from us far too early. I religiously followed Walter as I watched nearly all Bears games. Never been to the Hall of Fame, although I've driven through Canton several times - each time too damn frigid cold to entice me to stop in. Having attended OU in grad school (1984-1988) I saw Barry run his nuts off on the field only to succumb to the greatness of the Switzerville OU Boomer Sooners - the 1987 game was the one I attended (at OU).

Agree! The Switzer era at OU was dominating! If you're ever passing thru Canton again, make a real effort to stop, it's an amazing tribute to our childhood heroes, and in your lucky case, an actual friend!
I just ate two dozen blue mussels. These are Pier 33 Gourmet Mussels in White Wine Sauce. These bivalves are rope cultured off the Southern coast of Chile in frigid Pacific Ocean waters. I'm stuffed. I'd likely spike the TSA metal detector w/ the amount of Zinc in these guys, plus other good stuff in their innards.
NFL head coach opening. John Harbaugh fired ($hit-canned, let go) from Ravens.
I hadn't seen that yet. Surprising, yet not. They haven't won an AFC Championship since 2013, with key player personnel that are getting long in the tooth. Time for a rebuild, starting at the top. Kinda reminds me of the Chiefs.
Dawn is having a rough go of it even with the medicine. She's very achy and at times her fever is spiking to 100.5° when the Tylenol starts wearing off. The good news is the fever is still coming down for a period at the start of a dose of Tylenol.
I woke up at 0600 feeling out of sorts myself. I have a slight sore throat, minor chest congestion, itchiness in my eyes, and some achiness. I took a Covid test and it was negative. Mine just may be a sinus thing, which I'm prone to, with all the extreme up/down temps going on. Good news is I'm not seeing much (just a tinge) of color in my mucas. I need to take my temp at some point but I don't feel like I`m running one above normal. We'll see how the day goes?
Hope everyone has a great day and stays away from all the crud going around!
Got up around 1230 last night for the dog and it was clear when we went out, and I noticed it starting to get foggy while we were out. That sort of amused me. Was still foggy at 3 when we got up, and a little foggy when I got to work at 430. The TV screen on the wall shows it still foggy. At least my brain isn't foggy.
Chris I hope you lick what's got you. And Dawn, I hate that she feels bad. Get some chicken soup.
So I think I mentioned another episode at Walmart. There were no scooters when I walked in, and I told the girl standing there, you're about to get bitched at. I started a thread elsewhere for advice on buying personal scooters, I hope I can get some good info and I'll really start studying in earnest what all is available. They are actually fairly affordable, several hundred dollars, not thousands, and if I can talk my sister into contributing so much the better. The Suburban will be the vehicle to move it around in, which Mom can get in with a step ladder. I can lift it into the back. I'm hoping this works out. I don't think I've ever seen anyone with a personal scooter in WM.
Day Two with the new bathroom and Mom still loves it. It looks like something you'd see in a hotel. It's the most modern room in the house. Money well spent.
Got a couple wheels. Things are a little slow today, the robot was broke earlier and so was the retriever. I don't care, I've got my little container of macadamia nuts and a Coke Zero, so I'm good.
Hope everyone has a good day. Oh, it's Wednesday already. Boy I'm gonna miss these 4 day weeks.

Mike - Thanks for the well wishes for Dawn and I! The longer I'm up the better I'm feeling. In addition to my Sinus issues, I think I may be pushing myself too hard during my workouts. I think I need to dial it back until I get feeling better.
You might want to check into what your Mom's Medicare will/won't cover in regard to a personal scooter. You might have to get an order from her Doctor saying she needs one, but it would be worth it if they'll cover a substantial portion. Really glad you're Mom is loving the new bathroom! 👍
My sister has looked into Medicare and goes back and forth, they will pay for it, they won't pay for it. I would just as soon pay for it and be done and not get into a bunch of red tape. Besides that, would I eventually have to give it back to Medicare? Who knows. I can see Walmart "not allowing" a personal machine due to liability. Tough.
I started experiencing some minor chills. Finally took my temp and it is 100.6°. A 1000mg of Tylenol down the gullet. I hope the Tylenol knocks it down for several hours! 🤞
I haven't been on for a couple of days, Chris I hope that both you nad Dawn are doing better. Off to the Doc. tomorrow for my annual, and a list of other things that I want to go over with him, including the sciatica which has been killing me as of late.

Thanks for the well wishes Dan! I really don't want to be a whiner, but truthfully we're both feeling really crappy right now, Dawn is worse that I am. She's as tough as nails, but I can tell she's feeling horrible. I am tactfully watching her closely in case I feel like she needs to get to the Doctor in person.
I hope your Physical goes well and you can get some relief from the Sciatica. 🤞
Many people begin to feel better between 1-2 days after they start the Paxlovid course. Most feel better on average w/in 2-4 days. This is likely dependent on the viral "load". A larger viral load takes longer to feel relief compared to a smaller viral load.

I sure hope she starts feeling better soon! I wish I knew what the hell I have, maybe just a bad cold. It's only my 1st day! 😔
There are only two methods to determine viral load: (1) rtPCR & (2) cell culture. The at-home test is merely an antigen test which is an indication the person has been infected w/ the spike protein - nothing more, nothing less. "If" Dawn heads to a primary physician, the only thing he/she can do is refer to the ER for further evaluation of viral load (by taking a sample) &/or admission for evaluation.
Make yourselves a couple of nice hot toddies & zonk out for several hours. Hot whiskey, lemon, honey & either star anise or similar.
I have a small jar of Vicks Vapo Rub and a small jar of camphor phenique in my medicine cabinet. I soak a ringed out towel of water, place on a plate and stick it in the microwave for 1 - 2 minutes while I boil/simmer 1 tablespoon of Vicks or camphor in a cup of water in a pan on the stove. As the Vicks/camphor begins to vaporize I hang the towel over my head and start sniffing in the Vicks/camphor vapors.
About time to R&R roofing shingles. I installed new shingles 20 yrs ago. I have no leaks, but the asphalt shingles are beginning to look pretty worn. I no longer care to be involved in performing this type work. Put in a call for an estimate this morning.
I woke up 2 times last night completely soaked like someone had thrown me in a lake. Checked my temp right after getting up, 101.3°, I definitely have not turned the corner on whatever the hell I have.
Dawn's had 2 days/4 doses of the Paxlovid. She said she thinks she's past the high fever spikes, but the rest of her symptoms are still there. We're a real pair!
