I didn't have any hoagie style buns so I settled for Texas Toast.

Hey guys,

Finally got a call from my Sister this afternoon. They were without power for about 56-hours. They stayed in the house even though the temp got down to 45° inside. At least there were no frozen/burst pipes.

God morning everyone here we have a very nice spring weather now and motorcycles and cars
coming out of the winter sleep Replacing master brakecylinder / brakelines on my 98 and a little
work are left to do. 5 people died in Norway when the Cadillac -59 crashed in a mountain side when
they was going home downhill after visiting a very steep place.

Was picking up my squarebody truck yesterday after storage at the motorclub this winter
I hope we can drive our US cars this summer without issues like Tesla owners have .

Chris - Glad to hear power restored for your sister - 2.5 days w/ no power @ 45°F is no fun.

Glenn - Sad to hear these kind of stories. Wow...what a Cadillac though.

Heard from my brothers who both lost power in the U.P. and upper Wisconsin dontchaknow, eh. Tons of ice & snow but power restored after ~6 hours.
I've been staving off having to repair a termite infested area of the back porch far too long so I've been surgically removing boarding. I'm still in the process of determining exactly how deep/far I need to go - e.g. evaluating if there are any significant load bearing boards they've infiltrated. Those Phuquer's can destroy a building if the issue(s) are not addressed (properly).

Norm - Thanks. Although they were certainly uncomfortable, I was glad to finally hear they were OK with no home damage.

Norm - Glad your brother's are ok!

I had some termites just starting (caught them very early) and had the whole foundation (including bore holes in slabs) professionally treated. They're bad around here too and you have to stay vigilant. I have seen no evidence since the treatment,

Another round of severe thunderstorms starting now thru 6pm my time. Tornado/wind/hail/heavy rain threats. I'm hoping it gets past us before I want to leave for Gabe's game.

Keith - Yes the worst is past us, but Monty is in in very bad way. He's struggling to get enough air because he's so upset. I offered to run him up to the closest Animal Hospital to see if they can give him a sedative and oxygen, but Dawn didn't want me too. She's calling a Vet right now.

I've had this home professionally treated three times in 22 yrs. Termites are immortal.

Let us know how he is doing

Pepper went into scarardie cat for a second when we went for potty the other morning Lightning too with repeat of thunder.

I was tough on her and crisped..."Knock it off" sharp.

Broke her loop, she rebounded nicely ...

Found out re- enforcement of the scared'y cat behavior does not help my animal, it may make me feel better... by saying"It ok baby" instead " It's not ok" Helps my animal. Hope it has a positive on yours and others.

Norm/Keith - With there really being nothing we could do other than taking him to a Pet ER, Dawn told me to go on to Gabe's hockey game. By the time I got there I had gotten a text from Dawn letting me know he was doing better, and by the time I got home a few minutes ago I saw he is worn out, but breathing and resting comfortably. Thanks for your well wishes and concern!

Keith - We have tried every possible psychological tactic to distract him from going into a meltdown during storms, but nothing works. I'm really glad for both you and Pepper that the positive reinforcement works!

Hey guys - So, with my concern for Dawn and Monty, I was a little late getting away to Gabe's hockey game and they were about 4-minutes into the 1st Period and it was tied 1-1 when I got there. Of course Gabe had scored his team's goal and I had missed it. The game went back and forth, with each team trading goals. It was tied 6-6 with about 3-minutes left in the 3rd Period when Gabe scored the game winner, his 3rd goal for his hat-trick. That's now his 3 consecutive games for him with a hat-trick. When do you ever hear of that happening at any level? The boy's head is going to explode!

Now that would be interesting, not only would he be spending time in the penalty box, it would be an automatic ejection. In his age group (11-12), checking is not even allowed. They begin being allowed to check when they enter the 13-14 yr. old bracket.

Good morning everyone.

Chris does Monty flip out at any storm or does it have to be a certain intensity before he goes off? This might be a little extreme but could you soundproof one of your rooms and put him in there when it storms? I wonder what that would take. Get some of that acoustic foam the recording studios use maybe. That wouldn't be unattractive. Years ago my girl would go bananas, well my boy would too, but my girl was unconsolable. I would end up putting her leash on and just sitting on the couch with her. If I didn't she'd wreck the house. She would really just go berserk. I feel bad for dogs that get that scared.

Work in general has been slow but my personal team has been kicking butt. The staggered lunch deal is still a disaster, but like the lead says, the company spent all that money to get these ridiculous ideas, we should at least try it. Really it just gives everyone an hour lunch so it ain't all bad.

Mom sprung the doctor on me yesterday so today after work I have to rush home so we can make a 230 appointment. I said that isn't really fair. If I resist at all she gets an attitude like hey that's part of the deal. I don't know what deal she's talking about, putting her up and driving her around that's some deal. I don't mind any of that but a little consideration would be nice.

Glenn I didn't know you had a square body truck. Boy you have quite the fleet. I think you need a Corvair. That's too bad about those people.

Slow start to work so I think I'll take a walk. Hope everyone has a good day. One more to go then it's the weekend!

Mike - Obviously you know exactly what I'm dealing with. Monty can stand a hard rain, but he he melts down with high winds, and especially lightning/thunder. The acoustic foam might work, good idea? We have only one room that is totally interior to our home, all the rest have at least one wall along the exterior perimeter. The one room that is totally interior is the hall bath and that is where he goes when it starts storming. We are also looking into the possibility of a special surgery that will open up his airway so he can breathe better when he is overly stimulated.

Until watching one of the favorites on my you-tube subscription list this did not enter the buying consideration for the system to install. Very cool

Chris - Several hundred posts previously you said you were going to enter one, two or several Old Geezer class running events - which events are you entering?

Dan - Are you happy w/ the SafeLite glass replacement?

Mike - What's your decision on straightening the truck frame?

Jim - How's the pain in your AV fistula port coming along?

It's only been 23 years since its release (where have I been?), but I began watching Runaway Jury last night on Netflix. Great movie - never even knew about it.

Big storms here yesterday, lots of trees down. I got holes in a fence and half a Japanese maple smashed to due some idiot planting stupid pine trees 30 years ago. None of the downed trees are mine, yet they landed on my property, so I get to clean them up.

Good morning everyone.

I was prepared for the work slowdown this morning and things turned out to be not so bad. Still not where they need to be but better than yesterday.

It's supposed to be 89 today but it's cloudy and looks like rain. Tusk tusk. I got plenty of things to do inside if it does rain, and plenty to do outside if it doesn't.

Norm I haven't heard squat from my attorney and I'm tired of waiting. I've been looking for a frame shop to go talk to but there aren't a lot around here. My plan is to have the truck looked at, and provided he isn't too far gone, make plans for the rebuild and work up to that. Then anything I might get from the wreck I can put towards the job. In the meantime, I've been looking for a newer model truck I can trade a car in on but haven't had a lot of luck finding just what I want.

John get you a Bobcat and just push all the debris back into the yards from where the trees came. I think trees belong in the forest, not around houses. It never ends well.

Who do we know in Nashville, I need someone to check out a box truck for me.

Well have a great weekend everyone. This week has gone s l o w .

Hi Mike , i have owned this GMC Sierra c1500 for about 13 years now and have used it a lot.
Lowered with flip kit rear and shorter springs front , but no notch in the frame. Took the gravel
bike for a spin in the warm weather yesterday Hope everybody have a good weekend.

Chris - Several hundred posts previously you said you were going to enter one, two or several Old Geezer class running events - which events are you entering?

Norm - With almost all my bandwidth being chewed up by documentation and coordination related to Storm Damage Repairs, I never got out to a track with my daughter to get any preliminary times to see if I would even be competitive. I thought the deadline for online registration ended 3/31/25, and it would have, but I just checked and it has been extended to 4/10/25. So I may still sign up, but I'm gonna have to make a decision soon. The competition date is near the end of May, I can't remember the exact date.

John - Sorry that happened to you! You'd think the owner of the downed trees would reach out and offer to help with the clean-up, but that's probably too much to ask for in today's world!

As you know, along our (you/me) weather pattern, we're currently engulfed by an atmospheric river. It rained steady all day yesterday here, and even harder all day today, and is supposed to continue through tomorrow. They're talking about all time record localized flooding here with many rivers/creeks reaching 20ft over flood stage. I went out the back way to the store awhile ago where there's a low water culvert in one place you have to cross and the water was running pretty hard about 6-inches deep over the road. I got across easily in my truck, but a few more hours of what we're getting right now and I won't be able to get out that way. It could get very, very, ugly here!

So, I noticed this morning, since I got home in the dark last night, that the guy behind me came over and cut it all up into haulable stuff for me. He is an old guy, so he does not need to haul, but he has some nice gear, so I'll happily take the cutting and do the lifting myself. The guy to the north hasn't done anything as he is a fru fru. Time to look at the saw.

John, way back in '98 we had straight line winds come through here making a mess of everything. I was living in another house at the time, and one of my trees snapped off about 15' from the ground, hanging up in my neighbors tree, I asked her for permission to let the tree cutters go on to her property and take care of it, she said yes. My tree, my responsibility. Norm, yes, except they didn't clean the inside of the glass after the install, and left a dust mask on the floor. No out of pocket for me, so I'm happy. Chris, sounds like I can't complain about the 2.187" that I got through yesterday. Ya might need to buy a raft and life jackets.
Mike - When you retire you'll be able to supplement your income by opening a pick-and-pull!
There's an idea. I would like to get my Olds out of storage, the weather isn't being too co operative. My neighbor and co worker has his Nova parked behind my car, and he wants to wait until good Friday. I told him to move it so I can get mine out. He can have my spot.

Nice of the old guy to lend a hand, it figures he'd be older. 👍
