Heated vests have been around forever. I've worn one numerous occasions hunting, motorcycle riding & working outdoors. I have never worn a heated vest ice fishing. I will never sit inside a tent/shack fishing through a hole in the ice (like my brothers).
Spent about 2-hours outside. Shoveled the deck and stairs down to the backyard, and the walkway from the front door to the driveway, again. Used the snowblower to clear the driveway and clear a large area for the dogs in the backyard. Did these things after doing my usual Friday weightlifting workout in the morning. I've had all the fun I can stand! Home Run Inn Meat Lover's Pizza in the oven. After dinner I'll settle in to watch the 2nd CFP Semifinal Game between Texas and OSU, should be a good game. I don't like either team, but I'd rather see anyone other than OSU win the whole thing!
Norm, I grew up in Florida hunting and fishing. Knee high fisherman boots are my buddy. I showed some of my Realtree camo and leather boots hunting buddies some Florida hunting pics. Fisherman's rubber boots with tucked in summer weight rip stop tri color 1980s Army surplus camo.
Mike, the light is in the circuit like Norm said. The circuit I just checked has 4 positions. Both up is off, both down is off, 1 up and 1 down is on, 1 down and 1 up is on.
Chris, I think we got 5 more inches here. I'll measure accumulation tomorrow in the sun with a yardstick.
Norm, I have not seen anything but the classic Max trilogy. I don't consider making more movies in a franchise 30 years later to be anything other than reanimating a zombie for more money. I could be wrong on these.
I began watching Mad Max in 1979. Last week I watched Fury Road. Last night I began watching Furiosa. The four sequels are listed below:
Mad Max 2: Road Warrior (1981)
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985)
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
Norm - Enjoyed watching the first 3 Mad Max movies. Re-watched them several times since their initial release, just for what I call mindless entertainment. Never seen Fury Road or Furiosa, let me know if you think they're worth watching.
John/Chris - Fury Road & Furiosa are a different type of whacked out Mad Max - neither of them match the original trilogy; yet, entertaining to watch.
Y'all should wire a set of four-way switches. I considered installing a series of four-way switches in the man-cave but figured there was no need based on placement of the doors. In hindsight, I think it would have been a fun/decent idea. I have two sets of three-way switches at two different locations near two doors. One set controls the front overhead lights, the other set controls the back overhead lights (bldg is 40' L). You can install as many four-way switches as you like in a circuit as long as the first & last switch is a three-way switch.
Probably the best read, best AC electrical wiring book I've ever owned is the Wiring 1-2-3 hard-cover book (Meredith Books, Meredith Publishing Group). Exceptional diagrams, accurate in detail covering everything from wiring a home main service panel, sub-panels, 220V, 110V, switches, fixtures, duplexes, etc. it has it all. If you're going to do wiring, you should own this hard-cover wiring book.
Here is a .pdf of the book, maybe not same edition, but free. There are several others in .pdf format available (free). Of course, nothing beats having a hard-cover edition for the price.

Just one more set of trarvelers... flip/flop...hot/not
We got about 2-3 inches yesterday and last night- nothing like you guys got. I will run snowblower later. I can hear the noise those old goulashes made when walking as I looked at the pics! How cool those were- I loved the mechanical part of how the latches slipped thru the slots and held them closed... Are they still available? I have a pair of Muck boots now and they are great but no cool noises. I thick the rubber technology has progressed now a days...
Greg - There are some used on eBay - many in excellent condition, the likely issue is finding the correct size. Lacrosse (a very fine boot company) manufactures new overshoes/galoshes. Lacrosse Galoshes
The 1st pair I posted (above) are used on eBay. eBay Galoshes
Okay this snow **** was fun but it can go away now. Last night we were just finishing dinner and the power went out. So we got out a couple flash lights and lit some candles and carried on. I was out on the porch while Tiger was in the yard and the power came back on. Just as soon the transformer on a pole across the lake erupted in a green fireball and the power was out again. Stayed out until midnight, about 5 1/2 hours in all. Then I came home, crawled into bed, and Mom called to see if I made it home. She saw me having trouble getting out of the driveway and figured I'd take the ditch at some point. Hung up the phone, looked at the clock, it wasn't on! The power at my house had gone off while I was talking but since I didn't have any lights on I didn't notice. Got a text from the power company about 3 saying the problem was resolved.
So the linkage in my four wheel drive system must be froze from driving through all the slush. I couldn't get the handle to move. The driveway at Mom's house is fairly steep at the end, so I got a running start, all of about 5 feet, and got into the rocks and just floored it and got out of the driveway. Who knew I needed 4 wheel drive just to get out of the house?
Norm I can't imagine what you thought I was talking about. John has it right, all up or down off, one up or down on. I was merely saying I could remove the switch from the wall, wires still attached, and turn it and reinstall it upside down from where it was. By the way, I've seen switches with on and off embossed on the switch itself. That's why I said that.
Chris doesn't the snow blower tear up the grass when you are clearing a space for the dogs? When I install my heated driveway I'll come over and install a heated back yard for you. We don't need to be messing around with this shoveling nonsense.
Okay gotta come up with something to do today. Hope everyone has a good day.

Mike - You have two 3-way switches one at each end of a circuit (run). One 3-way switch is UP (what you'll call in the ON position), the other 3-way switch is DOWN (what you'll call in the OFF position). The fixture (light) is currently OFF. You go to the switch which is currently in the UP (what you'll call ON position), you want this switch to be in the OFF/DOWN position so you turn that switch upside down. Now, both switches are in the DOWN/OFF position. Now, turn EITHER switch into the UP/ON position to turn the light ON. What will be the position of the other (remaining) switch when you turn that switch to the UP/ON position and turn the fixture (light) ON? The other switch will remain in the DOWN/OFF position - of course, until Mike completely removes and turns the switch upside down again and every single time he wants both switches in the same identical position. I'm still chuckling.
Mike - If you purchase a std. 2-way fixture (light) switch, there's an excellent chance you'll see the actual (arm) of the switch labeled ON & OFF. That is a std. 2-way fixture (light) switch. You (evidently) have two 3-way fixture (light) switches. A 3-way fixture (light) switch is not labeled ON/OFF because a 3-way light switch can be controlled ON/OFF by either 3-way fixture (light) switch. Albeit, you won't find a 3-way fixture (light) switch labeled ON/OFF. A 3-way fixture (light) switch must always contain an additional connection (lug) for the traveler wire.
Okay Norm, I think you are trying to be difficult. I'm chuckling, too. Now, I am not such a freak as to have to have the switches doing the same thing AT EVERY MINUTE. Right now, as I sit here, the two switches in the bedroom are one up and one down and the light is off. If the light were on I'd be fine with the switches being different, because I'd know that when the light is off the switches will be the same. That's all I want. My only observation is that it seems every light with two switches must be put in by the same guy because they all seem to be contrary to what I'd like.
I think I'll brave the Awful house. I wasn't going to go out until I went to Mom's later, but my miniscule bacon/egg/cheese biscuit this morning just didn't cut it. It's above freezing and there isn't any precipitation so I should be okay.
Okay I just came up with this. I doubt it's been invented. How about a simple single button that when pushed, it changes what the light is doing. That way the button looks exactly the same as the other one, all the time. I bet if I invented this I'd be a gazillionaire, selling to every OCD person around.
Okay Norm, I think you are trying to be difficult.
Mike - I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm trying to help you understand why you CANNOT have two (both) 3-way fixture (light) switches be in the exact same position controlling a device/fixture/light. I don't think you understand the fundamental difference between a 2-way switch & a 3-way switch. To that end, go ahead and try your approach by turning one of the light switches upside down & see what that buys you.

Mike - I addressed that type of push button switch in a previous post.

Good evening everyone , we got about 15 inches of snow last monday so this take some time to get rid off.
Luckaly we have the tractors to do that , we tried a snowblower but it takes to much time so we sold that.
The water exercise have started after the holidays and this was really good thing for my knees Waiting
to drive the Olds again but now i,m in the woods sawing birch to sell to the sawmill. The Huskvarna 445
runs great .
The woodfires in Californa was so awful , it,s hard to se all houses gone in the flames. Very sad.
Took off my Harley front wheel today , should put a new tire on and then the bikes are ready to go .
I'm not saying take the wires off, turn it upside down and then put the wires back on(which would make them on different sides then) I'm saying take the switch out of the wall, turn it upside down with the wires still attached, and put it back in. Everything is the same, except it's upside down. Go stand on your head. You can still breath. If I do this and then enter some 5th dimension, I'm man enough to tell you that I was wrong.
I don't remember you saying that about the push button switch. No wonder it sounded like such a good idea.
Okay. I'm going to get the tractor and dig a big hole for this dead horse. But first, Awful house.

I understood exactly what you said - give that a try. Please do report back & let us know how that worked for you.

Glenn - Good Morning. My Huskie 445 runs great, also. The California fires are devastating. I do my own tires, also. I put on new Metzeler tires both front/rear of my Indian last year. Keep 'em shiny side up!
Okay this snow **** was fun but it can go away now.
. . .
Chris doesn't the snow blower tear up the grass when you are clearing a space for the dogs?
Mike - I agree 100%, I've already had all the fun I can stand with the snow and ice!
In regard to the snowblower. There are adjustable running height guides on each side of the bottom of the auger housing. I just set them higher before taking it into the grass, and it works great. Every once in awhile if I'm on a slope it might catch a little, but not bad.
Well we finally got some sunshine and it's a little warmer, 32° at noon. Was finally able to get out and clear an inch of ice from the front porch, the walkway from the porch to the driveway, and a 3ft wide path along the driveway to the street. Before I could only get the snow off of these areas because the ice was just too tough. Might have been able to break it up with a sledge, but would have been risking busting up the concrete.
Norm - Awhile back you had mentioned that roof leak I had prior to getting my new roof. Well it's going to get a real test now with about 7 or 8-total inches up there in that "dead zone", and we're going to enter a period of several freeze and thaw cycles as it melts some during the day and then refreezes overnight. Sure hope it holds up!
NFL Wild Card games start today. Two games today, 3 tomorrow, and 1 Monday. Guess you know what I'll be doing with the rest of my weekend!

To maybe close this chapter (dig a big hole & bury this horse) you cannot configure the switches to be in the position(s) you want to achieve with your current wires & switches. You can create the configuration you want to achieve by running one set of additional travelers (wires) between the two switches then re-wiring the switches employing the additional travelers. You'll (obviously) need to snake/pull the additional travelers (wires) between the two switches then re-wire each switch. If you're serious about it, that's what it will take.
Chris - Lamar Jackson a QB or RB! LOL
Haven't seen much out of Steelers.
Wow, the Ravens are putting a real *** Whoopin on a Steelers team who prides themselves on their defense. Not sure if Lamar is a QB or RB, guess we should just label him a Phenomenon! Incredible athlete!

Talking about Indian , a friend called me a couple of month ago and told me to come and se in his garage ,
and there was a nice restored 1947 Indian and also some nos parts come with the bike. Looks like you
have a longer bar on your 445 than my 13 " Norm. ( Nice to have a own youtube channel )

Glad the water exercise is still working well for your knee pain. 👍
Well i,m only in the woods for 3-5 hours at the time , and could choose when i want to . My wife visits the gym but
i,m not so intrested in that. Nice to se at your pics that the snow are melting and the Olds coming out again , hope you
and your family are ok also.
Frost on the pumpkin this morning, but it's gonna get to a whopping 45* today and be sunny, so most of this slop should disappear. I told Mom we weren't going to do Walmart today because I was afraid the parking lot would be treacherous, but I think it will be okay. The roads are -largely- clear, and I'm sure there's been a run on Walmart so the lot should be okay.

Haven't heard how the winter storm affected the north side. Jamesbo hope you're not socked in.
Today my #1 car is 55 years old. He's not in terrific shape but that's another story. This past November we were together 41 years.
Guess I'll get this day going. Hope everyone has a good day
Mike - What Model Huskie you have? 18" on my 445 is really the maximum & the sweet spot. Can't recall I think 445 came w/ 15" standard length. Sweet spot on a 545 is about same. I wouldn't go longer than 20" on a 545 if anyone even sells one to fit that model. At 20" you'll get some reduction in performance.
It's still chilly here, but it's certainly not frigid. Didn't get any freezing rain and no snow. Life is good.
Snowed Friday and Saturday in the a.m. had 9" indicated on the snow gauge. Fired up the blower and cleared the driveway. Threw salt on the areas where the mailman will walk. Getting the fine snow now, which will slick up the highways in a heartbeat. Made waffles this morning, urp! Time to get to the football game.
My drafting square stuck into the snow on the picnic table reads 9 inches total since last Sunday. It's above freezing for a day, then more of that later in the week to make it go away.
Keith - I've known two fellas who each own a Indian Mini Mini (they used to bring them to various events). Each of theirs were different styles - manufactured by two different vendors/manufacturers. After Indian went bankrupt (1953) the Indian name was up for grabs. A chap in England bought the Indian name sometime in the 1950s & began importing Royal Enfield motorcycles badged as Indian motorcycles. Then the brand name was sold again. At one point Floyd Clymer (Indianapolis, IN) began selling the little Mini Minis. They weren't really produced by Indian Motorcycle, but instead badged as an Indian. Floyd used a couple different engines & frames from other manufacturers, as I recall. I have no clue what they are worth. I think the one guy who owned one actually lived in Wisconsin. The CL add sorta resembles his logic - a $20K - $30K Indian Mini Mini for $6K. Seriously? Cool little bike with honestly not much authenticity - sorta like a kids toy/novelty. It is hard to believe it's never been started sitting on a shelf if it's true. Thanks for sharing.
